Chapter 34: Story 34: Glamorous Vendetta
"Crystal clear, Alyssa. I’m at the rendezvous point," Logan’s deep voice responded.
Alyssa smirked, knowing Logan was always punctual. As she rounded a corner, she spotted him leaning against a crumbling wall, his eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses. Despite the dire situation, he managed to maintain an air of nonchalance.
"Nice of you to join the party," Logan teased, pushing off the wall to approach her.
"Couldn’t miss it," Alyssa replied, a hint of warmth in her tone. "What’s the plan?"
Logan’s expression turned serious. "Captain Drake needs us to secure the old military base. It’s our best shot at a safe haven. But it’s crawling with zombies."
"Sounds like a walk in the park," Alyssa said dryly, loading her rifle.
As they made their way through the streets, they encountered Zara, her perfectly styled hair and immaculate makeup an odd contrast to the chaos around them. She was known for her resourcefulness and cunning, always finding a way to survive in style.
"Heading to the base, are we?" Zara asked, her tone sweet but her eyes calculating.
"That’s the plan," Logan replied. "You in?"
"Wouldn’t miss it for the world," Zara said, flashing a dazzling smile.
Together, they reached the base, finding Captain Drake organizing the resistance fighters. His presence was commanding, and his strategic mind was the key to their survival.
"Alyssa, Logan, Zara—good to see you. We need to clear out the main building," Drake ordered.
"On it," Alyssa said, her voice filled with determination.
As they moved through the base, the sound of gunfire and the groans of the undead filled the air. Alyssa’s sharpshooting skills were unmatched, taking down zombies with precision. Logan fought fiercely, his military training evident in every move. Zara, despite her glamorous appearance, proved to be deadly with her knives.
In a moment of respite, Alyssa and Logan found themselves alone in a dimly lit room.
"Logan, why do you always act so tough?" Alyssa asked, her voice softer than usual.
"It’s easier than showing how scared I really am," Logan admitted, removing his sunglasses to reveal the vulnerability in his eyes.
Alyssa stepped closer, placing a hand on his arm. "We’re all scared. But together, we can survive this."
Their eyes locked, and for a brief moment, the chaos outside was forgotten. But the sound of approaching zombies snapped them back to reality.
"Let’s finish this," Logan said, his voice resolute.
Together, they rejoined Zara and Drake, their combined skills and determination pushing them to clear the base. As the last zombie fell, a sense of triumph washed over them.
"We did it," Zara said, her voice filled with satisfaction.
