Chapter 141 - PLEASE, WAKE UP!
After the operation went smoothly, Lucas was immediately transferred to a special room. Considering he is not yet conscious, so he has to do intensive care after undergoing surgery.
Now, Ellena seems to be sitting next to Lucas, after being allowed by the doctor to meet Lucas in the room. She gripped Lucas's hand so tightly as she stared sadly at the man's face.
"Lucas, wake up! You promised me you would always be there for me, always take care of me, but why are you like this now. Do you not care about me anymore?" Ellena asked as she looked at Lucas who was lying unconscious on the patient bed.
There were several medical device hoses connected to the monitor screen, attached to his body, hands, feet, and on his broad chest. Meanwhile, the sound of the monitor seemed to be ringing loudly in the room, making the atmosphere of the room a little tense.
Every now and then Ellena glanced at the monitor screen, observing every parameter that appeared there. She didn't really understand what each parameter meant, but at least she knew when Lucas' condition was getting worse. Luckily at this time the condition of the husband is still as before, there are no signs of a declining body condition.
"I know you're a strong man, you can't just give up, but seeing you like this makes me worried, Lucas. I don't want anything to happen to you. Please wake up. For me, for Mommy and Daddy."
Ellena buried her face in Lucas's hand which was still in hers. She sobbed, unable to contain the clear liquid that had been filling the corners of her eyes.
It's too painful for her. Seeing Lucas lying helpless like that, made Ellena feel a deep wound. Ah, if she could switch positions with Lucas, she might as well do it by now.
"I can't see you like this, Lucas. It hurts too much. Get up! I promise I'll do whatever you ask, once you wake up. I promise!" Ellena stammered. She then kissed Lucas' hand deeply and long enough.
There were no more feelings she was hiding. She expressed her feelings through the kiss. Full of love and affection. Things she had never done to any man, including Keenan.
Unfortunately, what she did did not succeed in stimulating Lucas to wake up from the coma. She tightened her grip on her hand, while continuing to kiss Lucas's hand which felt like it had no life. Weak.
"Lucas, we here really hope that you can be healthy again like before. I'm lonely without you. I can't if I have to go through the days without you. I don't mind, if you will scold me every day, as long as you wake up, Lucas. Don't make me worry like this. You know? I wouldn't forgive myself if anything happened to you and I wouldn't forgive you either, if you dared to break my wait. Did you hear me, Lucas?" said Ellena at length.
She was in the room long enough, until she realized that her visiting time was up.
"Lucas, believe me I didn't really want to leave you here alone, but because you needed to rest, I had to go out. But I promise you, I'll keep you out there, won't ever leave you. I hope you'll be fine. , until you open your eyes and say my name."
Ellena got up from her seat, then walked over to Lucas' face.
"I say goodbye. I love you, Lucas," she whispered as she kissed Lucas' face at several points, on the cheek, forehead and lastly on the man's lips. She then walked out of the room still crying.
"Elle, how are things, Lucas? Has there been any progress?" Veronica asked enthusiastically, as soon as Ellena left the room.
Incidentally, Veronica is currently waiting in front of the room where Lucas is being treated.
"Lucas is the same as before, Mommy. He's still unconscious," Ellena replied without trying to contain the tears that rolled down her cheeks. Every now and then he would wipe the tears violently.
"Believe that Lucas will be fine, Elle. We must pray for his recovery," Veronica replied, forcing a smile, even though she herself felt very hurt seeing her son lying helpless.
"Yes, of course, Mom." Ellena replied, wiping her tears back, then forcing a smile. Trying to show a strong attitude in front of the mother-in-law, even though in reality she is not good at acting like that. What's more, you have to lie to yourself.
A few minutes later. Feeling worried about her mother's condition, Ellena left the place and met her mother who was still lying weakly in another room.
Now she was standing beside her mother, right to the left of the patient bed where the mother lay.
"Elle, how is your husband's condition right now?" Briana asked who had been worried about her daughter-in-law's condition. She held Ellena's arm while giving her a worried look. Even because she was so worried, he couldn't even close her eyes, even though it was already very late.
Since hearing the bad news about Lucas from the nurse, Briana's feelings have become uneasy. She really wanted to catch up with Ellena to see Lucas' condition firsthand. However, herbody which seemed to be powerless, made her undo that. In the end, shelllhe could only surrender to the uneasy feeling that had been plaguing her mind for a long time.
Hearing the question from her mother, Ellena's tears fell down her cheeks again. Of course he couldn't forget the image of Lucas who was still lying limp in the room, without anyone to accompany him.
"Lucas has had surgery, Mom, but he's still unconscious. According to the doctor, he might be in a coma for a few days." Ellena explained, sobbing.
"What?" Briana was taken aback by Ellena's explanation. Didn't expect that the son-in-law who had always looked energetic and strong, could turn out to be weak like now.
"Be patient, Elle. You have to be strong for Lucas. I'm sure Lucas won't give up. He will definitely pass all these tests well," Briana replied, looking at Ellena's sad face.
The bond between mother and child is very strong. Briana seemed to be able to dive into Ellena's heart and feelings. He knew very well that Ellena was very hurt because of Lucas' current condition.
For the sake of not wanting to see Ellena getting sadder, she must be stronger than her daughter, in order to still be able to take care of Ellena at this time, because he knows Ellena must really need her, when Lucas is sick like now.
"But I can't see Lucas like that, Mom. It hurts so bad." Ellena replied, crying even more in front of her mother.
He then hugged his mother and poured all his sadness in Briana's arms. Actually, he didn't have the heart to add to his mother's burden, who was still lying weak, but at this time she was the only woman he could rely on.
"Elle, I know how you feel right now, but don't be too sad too. I know Lucas loves you very much. He must not like seeing you like this. Stop crying, for Lucas' sake. You have to be strong, so you can take good care of your husband. You will be healthy, if you can't take good care of yourself. Doesn't Lucas always remind you of that? Even Lucas will be very angry if he sees you not eating, "Briana advised while gently stroking Ellena's back.
Elena didn't answer. It seemed that he was still not satisfied with spilling all his sorrows. Somehow she can become strong, when the person who always supports her is sick and helpless.
The sound of the cellphone suddenly made Ellena gasped and stopped her crying activities. For a moment her focus shifted to the nightstand next to the gurney where she had been lying before.
Ellena wiped her cheek roughly, before deciding to pick up the very familiar cell phone. I don't know who kept her cell phone there. Maybe someone had found it while she was unconscious, and then kept it there.
Ellena was stunned for a moment when she found Martin's name on the screen of her cellphone, making a whatsapp call.
"Mom, Martin is on the phone." Ellena glanced at her mother, wanting to tell her.
"What?" Brianna was a little dazed.
Not displeased to get a phone call from her son, but what they would tell Martin about their current condition. Martin would be very worried if he knew of the accident that happened to them.
"Mom, how is it? What should I say to Martin?" asked Ellena confused while still staring at her phone screen.
"Elle, don't tell Martin about what happened to us," Briana begged, starting to worry about her son who was already far away.
"Okay ma'am."
In no time, Ellena had shifted the green icon, indicating that she received a phone call from her sister.
"Hello, Martin!" cried Ellena with great enthusiasm.
"Hello, Sis. Sis I've arrived in Cambridge," replied Martin from the other side.
"I'm glad to hear that, Martin. Where are you now? Are you at the apartment?" asked Ellena starting to worry about Martin's condition who was already in another country.
"Yes, Sis. Sorry I just got to contact you. Actually, I have arrived from a few hours ago, but because I was tired I fell asleep and just woke up," Martin explained.
"Thank God you've arrived at the apartment," said Ellena quietly.
She should have been delighted to hear the good news from Martin. However, even smiling really seemed reluctant for her to do. Remembering the deep wound she was feeling right now.
"Ah, it's not been a day and a night here, I think I've missed you," said Martin, which suddenly managed to make Ellena burst into tears again. However, he swiftly wiped it back.
"I missed you too, Martin," Martin replied.
"Oh yeah, where's Mom? I'd love to hear your voice.." Martin asked later.
