Chapter 39
“Now that I take a good look around, it just looks like Kyoto. All modern buildings a lot of glass in each building. Not like the city at the border with the medieval?vibes.”
“As we said, they didn’t do things half-heartedly. They also upped the living environment for the capital.” Zagan explained.
“The outer circle as well?” I ask, intrigued.
“They are busy with that,” Zagan said, Turning a corner.
“Un.” Nodding, I followed them around the corner. When I was around the corner, I could tell from the number of people walking around we were on the main road now. Adjusting my scarf up just in case there are some adventures around smelling like shit. Thinking about the adventures, I thought about signing up.
“Hey, where do adventures sign up?” I said, looking at Amari that was walking next to me.
“You want to sign up?” Amari said, looking a bit confused.
.....
“Yes.” I nodded.
“I will ask Zagan later. We can do that after we have done with shopping. I also haven’t signed up yet.?” Amari said, nodding.
“Okay.” Looking at Zagan and Rachel, I saw they were talking and weren’t paying attention to us. “You wanted to talk with me. I am all ears,” I said, looking back at Amari. She also looked at them and started to talk.
“What do you think about Rachel.”
“Cute. That is about it. I don’t really know her personally. After all, I only know her for a day.” I said, shrugging.
“That’s true. You do know she likes you, right.”
“She was quite obvious about it. I don’t know why, though.”
“You’re handsome...beautiful, even with your eyes making you look scary. In this world, many people like that sort of thing, and Rachel is one of them. Your only downside is most likely your curse and how ripped you are. Yes, you are lean, but if someone takes a close look, they will see all of that.” Amari explains, pointing at my stomach.
Looking at my stomach, I sighed and looked back at her and said. “Your mean. I like my six-pack, and my build is nice. It shows that I am not a pushover.”
“that is true. But I did not mean that you should change yourself. Not that you could anyways. How you look fits you. Mean, ruthless, and don’t mess with me. That is the vibes you give the people around you.” Amari said, looking at the people around. I did the same and saw that a lot of people avoided our group by walking around us. “You see. People just don’t want to mess or get close to us just because you are with us. You being more than ahead longer than all of us makes it worse.”
“If what you say is true, why does trouble always find me,” I ask, confused.
“I don’t know...Let us get back to the topic,” she said, awkwardly.
“Fine, I’m listening,” I said, annoyed.
“Un, the worst part about this is that this isn’t her first time fall in love with someone. It has happened a few times where she meets someone and falls in love at first sight. She is someone that falls in love way too easily. The last one was a guy that just joined the black ops. she helped him with some things, and thas when she fell in love. They got along great, but it didn’t last long. He had to quit because he couldn’t handle the training. He never said anything to her about him struggling. When he left, he never told her. Her biggest mistake was going out and look for him because apparently this guy was already married.” Amari said. She sighs and continued. “She took it pretty bad. It took her a year to get back to her usual self. I just want to make certain it doesn’t happen again.”
“What? She is only 13 years old. How has she fallen in love with more than one guy? Does she think she lives in a fairy tale or something?” I said, looking at Amari.
“I don’t know. She is just that type of person that falls in love easily.” Amari said, shaking her head. “But I want to know what are you going to do about this?”
“To be honest, nothing. It will most likely take a long time for me to answer her feelings back. It’s not that I think I will never love her or anything is just my past doesn’t really give me a lot of experience with love.” I said honestly. Sighing, I continued. “The first person I really love would be Stacy. As a mother, of course. Knowing that my only love one is mom is depressing, but it can’t be helped. I don’t really know how to love everyone yet. That’s why I want to start with family first, then I will look for a partner, and that is way into the future.”
“I understand. All I ask don’t hurt her too much if you reject her.” Amari said, nodding.
“I will try my best.” I sighed and nodded.
“Good,” Amari said, looking in front of us again.
‘Love? How many types of love are there? I know I love Stacy, but that’s family love. What is the sort of love Rachel has for me? admiration or true love?’ Sighing to myself, I felt someone tap on my shoulder. Looking down at the person, I saw Zagan smile at me.
“Don’t overthink things too much. Take things slow it won’t help you rush things. Especially something like this.” Zagan said. Looking at where Amari was, I saw she was with Rachel distracting her this time around.
“Haha, you guys work well together. Did she tell you to talk to me this time?” I said, looking back at Zagan.
“Yes, I don’t really know if I would be helpful in this. Amari and I had it easy with our love life, but yours won’t be that easy. All I can really tell you is we are still young. Way too young to think about these things, actually.”
‘Huh! That’s true. I never really thought about it, but I didn’t have a childhood in my previous life.’ I thought to myself.
“Haha, I will do that. Enjoy my youth. Sounds fun.” I said, smiling.
“That’s the spirit,” Zagan said, hitting my shoulder.
“Guys, we have arrived,” Amari said from the front.
Looking to the front, I saw we were standing in front of a white building with a sign saying ‘scroll’ on it. Raising an eyebrow at the facility. Following Amari inside, I looked around and saw that there was no change in color. White marble floors, walls, tables, everything was just white. Sighing, I ask.
“Why just white?”
“Because white screams fancy.” Someone said from the side. Looking at him, I saw he had a white suit on with the same name as the sign on.
“I guess you work here,” I said, frowning.
“Yes, Ma’am, I do. How can I help you today.”
“Don’t call me Ma’am,” I said, annoyed. Looking at Amari, I waited for her to talk.
“Hello, we are here to buy her a new scroll,” Amari said, pointing at me.
“I see this way, miss.” The employee said, walking to a counter.
“Also, is it possible to get house Draigs symbols on it?” Amari asks, following behind him.
“Yes, we can do that.” He said.
(2 Hours Later)
“It took 2 hours just to get a fucken phone. What the hell,” I said, annoyed. Looking at the scroll, it operated as any standard smartphone on earth. The only difference was that it was thinner and only glass with our house symbol at the back.
“It was because they needed to make the symbol from scratch,” Amari said.
Looking at the symbol. It looked like a compass with 4 great swords pointed in the north, south, east, and west direction. Then there were 4 short swords 45 degrees from the great sword. Also, pointing in 4 different directions. The smaller gaps were filled with 8 daggers completing it.
“They did a good job but did it really had to take 2 hours to do it, Haah,” I said, sighing in annoyance. Putting the scroll in my inventory, I looked at Amari.
“Well, you have our contacts now. Let’s go get you some new clothes.”
“Yes, please, and no dresses,” I said, adjusting my scarf.
“We aren’t picking things out for you. Luna will do that.”
“Luna?” I said, tilting my head.
“She is quite nice.”
“Yeah, for girls,” Zagan said with a depressed expiration.
“What happened?” I ask Zagan softly. All I received was a grunt.
