Chapter 241 Consideration

I was preparing for a potential enemy, one with an army larger and stronger than my own. After completing the design, I emerged from my planning and saw that my builder and miner minions were ready and eager to begin their tasks. I assigned both groups to their designated roles. The first priority was the construction of the wall and gate, ensuring the city\'s safety. The design was integrated into their AI systems and the builders who had been resting were also put to work. Miners began the task of digging a moat outside the wall, providing yet another layer of defense. As I observed the progress of my city, I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction as it grew exponentially. Only a few days prior, there were only a handful of people inhabiting the city, myself and Chloe included. But now, as I walked through the streets, I was able to communicate and interact with a thriving community.

During this day, my army had doubled in size and I had more minions than ever before. Now, I felt confident in my ability to defend against even the most formidable of enemies and protect the city and its inhabitants.

As I made my way to the residential area, I found Chloe there, observing children as they played games. I couldn\'t help but feel a sense of warmth and joy as I watched her, a smile creeping across my face. The mere sight of her brought a sense of calmness to my body and an unexplainable joy to my heart.

Chloe stood up upon noticing my approach and offered a small, shy smile. The previous hesitance she had felt seemed to have dissipated. I approached her and shared the news that the construction of the second wall had begun and showed her the design for the outside space. She expressed her admiration for the design and I couldn\'t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. It was a moment of contentment, as I knew the decisions I had made would ensure the safety and prosperity of my city and its people.

She and I were in deep contemplation, considering the idea of relocating all of the inhabitants of the city outside of the inner wall and keeping only those who could perform vital tasks within. I shared my thoughts with Chloe and to my surprise, she was in agreement. Although, she had something on her mind, she seemed hesitant to voice it out.

I understood her uncertainty and prompted her to express her thoughts. She appeared a little confused at first, but then she began, "I was thinking if you could construct a palace for yourself. Every king has his own palace and if you have one, it will have a strong impact on the enemy."

I couldn\'t help but smile, as I too had harbored the desire for a palace, but I didn\'t want it at this moment. So, I replied to Chloe, "I also want to live in a palace, but right now we need the loyalty of these people. How can we gain it by providing them with a sense that we are one of them? I will not ask for a palace; they will ask me to build a palace for myself, and then I will do it."

"Why does their loyalty matter to you? You have minions that will do whatever you want. I am also wondering why you need people in your city. You have minions, you can take resources from any king you want. These people are just making you weak, nothing else."

"One cannot rule robots. I need people so I can rule them. Robots bend to my will, and there is no opposition in them. However, when you bend people to your will, there is opposition. They resist and push back, and when you finally attain what you want, the level of satisfaction is indescribable."

"Now I understand why you want humans to live in our city. You are a very sadistic man, Williams."

"Yes, I am a little sadistic. Every human is a sadist. If given the opportunity, we all desire to have people bend to our will. We all strive to attain power and command others, to reach the top of the hierarchy. This is what makes us humans superior to any other species."

She was about to say something else when I heard the sound of bells ringing from the high tower. A bell was installed in the lower area of the high tower, so in case of any emergency, the watcher on top would ring the bell and my army could become active. I quickly ran towards the barracks, where I was informed that a group of zombies was headed towards our city. I immediately called all of the miners and builders inside the door and sent archers up the wall. I also sent a few magic minions to the wall.

Flame-throwing magic minions and archers were marching on the wall, anxiously awaiting the approaching enemy. I also made my way to the wall and surveyed the approaching zombies. These zombies looked nothing like the ones I had seen during the construction phase of the city. The mining work had begun when they attacked us, which means the work of the miners might have been the cause of provocation.

I was able to count 30 zombies. They looked more buff and stronger than the group that had come during the construction phase. Their lumbering bodies were adorned with thick, matted fur, and their eyes glowed with a fierce hunger. I knew that this would be a tough battle, but I was determined to protect my city and its inhabitants.
