Chapter 46 Wandering Trader System
Chloe\'s arrow flew through the air.
It landed on the zombie\'s neck.
"Crap, I missed."
[Regurgitation]
The zombie went through another acid reflux, gathering toxic vomit in its rotten mouth before spewing it toward us. With each strike, the zombie was closing the distance on us. We were forced to dash behind cover again in order to avoid the strike. A huge splash of toxic liquid frantically dissolved the feeble wooden hut we were hiding behind.
Our possible covers were slowly getting worn down. Several of the huts were already destroyed and the remaining ones are quite spread out so it wouldn\'t be easy to move between them. Chloe pulled out another arrow and placed it on her [Platinum Bow]. She peeked around the corner of the melting wooden hut and fired another arrow straight toward the zombie. This time, the arrow stabbed directly into the centre of its chest.
The arrow sunk into its heart chamber and it fell to the ground in agony. I got Knight to take aim at it and Chloe loaded another arrow just in case. The zombie squealed on the ground as we prepared our next attacks. Suddenly, even though the zombie appeared to be in pain, it raised its head at us.
Noticing what was happening, we quickly ran away as it gathered vomit in its throat. We just barely managed to make it behind another hut before it regurgitated again, shooting a rain of acidic liquid. It quickly dissolved the hut we hid behind, turning the wood into a viscous black sticky mush.
With her arrow already loaded, Chloe aimed her bow at the zombie and fired again. However, the arrow hit the zombie on the arm, only causing it a slight inconvenience. Knight also fired at the zombie but the arrows were too weak to deal any significant damage. The zombie tossed and turned a little bit before pulling out the arrows which were lodged in it.
As fast as she could, Chloe placed another arrow on her bow.
"Its weak spot is its head," I informed her.
"Alright, let\'s hope this one hits."
The arrow zipped through the air, travelling like an aeroplane, it flew straight toward the zombie as it did nothing but look.
It managed to lodge itself into its head.
The zombie fell to the ground as its entire body began disintegrating. Its already-rotten flesh began evaporating, like water from a kettle, rising into the sky. The zombie squealed and scream but it was slowly vanishing into nothingness.
As the zombie died, I took a moment to catch my breath.
"Thank goodness, we should be safe for tonight."
"Yeah, let\'s hope."
All of my Elite Minions were quite injured but Bishop was especially low on health.

I looked around the camp to try to find a suitable place to stay the night. After the special zombie, there was only a very small dribble of zombies left around the border of the forest. We would finally have a break from the fighting and get to sleep for the night.
There were still a few huts that weren\'t yet destroyed so I set my Elites on standby and decided to get some sleep for the next day.
*
I was awoken by the sound of someone knocking on my door.
"—it\'s midday."
It was Chloe\'s voice.
I slowly pulled myself out of bed as I stretched my sore body.
"I\'m coming."
I slowly made my way toward the unfamiliar door and pulled it open. I was greeted by a happy, smiling Chloe.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked.
"No reason~"
Whatever.
"We should start making our way home," I said.
"Aren\'t we going to try to find their main settlement?"
"I need some time to recover and gather my forces, judging by today, I\'m going to need almost all of my Minions if we are going to fight their main army."
"Ah, I guess so~"
Suddenly, we heard a sound coming from the forest.
At this hour? Was it more Cloaks?
A man walked out from the forest, he was dressed quite formally, like a merchant or something. We made our way over cautiously and greeted him.
"Hello there, before you attack me, let me explain why I\'m here."
He looked around and seemed surprised by the lack of people.
"Wait, where is everyone?" He asked.
"Everyone?" I assumed that he was referring to the Cloaks that we had slaughtered.
"Yeah... usually there are a lot more people in this settlement."
I drew [Mayuri-Luc-Ei]. He suddenly jolted in fear.
"What do you want?" I asked
"W-w-wait... I\'m a merchant, I have a Merchant System that lets me trade with other people," he said frantically in a weak tone.
"A merchant?"
Suddenly, a notification came up.
[Would you like to initiate a trade?]
Okay...?
-
<Trading>
[x1] Light Sphere - 4 Tokens
[x1] Fishing Rod - 2 Tokens
[x1] Enchantment Stone - 20 Tokens
-
"Is this all you have to offer?" I asked.
"Yes... my shop only refreshed once per day and once I\'m sold out that\'s it for the day..."
I looked at the items.
"Alright, I\'ll buy all of them."
"All of them? Are you sure?"
"I\'m sure."
Suddenly, I received another notification.
-
<Trade>
[+1] Light Sphere
[+1] Fishing Rod
[+1] Enchantment Stone
...
[-26] Tokens
-
The items were automatically transferred into my inventory. I had quite a large number of Tokens to spare from all the gatherings that my Minions had been doing, especially from my various Miner Minions. These were all relatively novel items so I wanted to see what they did, considering I haven\'t seen them in the crafting menu I assumed that they\'d be quite hard to get normally.
"Alright, you said your shop refreshed once a day?"
"Yes."
"What type of items do you usually sell?"
"Well, it depends, as my system levels up the types of items I can sell and the quantity increase. Every time I sell to a new customer, I gain some products related to their system."
"I see, come over to our settlement once a day so I can see what you have to offer."
"U-um... but sometim-"
I drew [Mayuri-Luc-Ei].
"I have a system that could track you down whenever I want, I assume you don\'t want any trouble, so come over to our settlement once a day."
"O-okay... is this not your settlement?"
"No, we recently just killed everyone here."
