Chapter 661 - The Schemes Of A Certain God
Chapter 661 - The Schemes Of A Certain God
Theo alternated his gaze between his Master and the child as he too was just as curious as she was.
During the time that his Master had decided to write the script, he had stayed secluded and did not allow anyone to approach him lest he was disturbed.
Therefore, Theo too had no clue about what Asmodeus had thought before making the King resemble the other man.
With two curious figures staring at him the blue bird hovering in the air sighed before explaining exactly what had taken place back then.
He even emphasized that he had not done that with any ulterior motives in mind.
When the first simulation of the script had taken place, he had noticed the King\'s resemblance but paid no attention to it as it worked out well in his favor.
However, his delusions came crashing when the CEO of Platina rejected his script and deemed it unprofitable to her company.
What happened next was history and the events that took place after that all led them to the present.
Asmodeus kept it in mind not to utter a word about the simulation that had taken place before he had brought this child over to this world.
To her, this was the first iteration of the script and he would like to keep it that way.
Therefore, he only revealed the part which explained why the child\'s father in the past and the King looked similar and nothing else.
What he did not know was that the simulation that he was so determined to keep a secret from her was slowly unraveling to her in her dreams for quite a while now.
The credit to this effort needed to be given to the schemes of a certain God who believed that he was doing it for the good of the Bird God.
Another aspect that Asmodeus had no clue about was that the same person who had made it so that the first simulation of the script was revealed to this child had done the same to another.
Thanks to Yether\'s spell that he had cast on Yvonne, she was gaining fragments of the memories this body possessed from that first simulation of the script.
Nevertheless, they were sporadic and had no set schedule of their arrival.
However, what Neo had achieved today was on a different scale compared to the spell Yether had cast on Yvonne in the past.
Hilda, the child who had gobbled up the bread she received, was at this very moment, lost in the land of dreams.
These dreams were a depiction of every single detail of her life that had taken place during that first simulation of the script.
Asmodeus had erased all of their memories and reversed time to make the characters young once again before he brought Yvonne into this world.
However, Neo was acting from the shadows as per his own desires, disregarding what his old friend was trying to achieve.
First he had tried to send an entity to remind Yvonne of what truly took place in this world that Asmodeus had concealed from her.
When that failed, he decided to act covertly and sent Yether to cast a spell of remembrance on Yvonne\'s body to help her recover the missing memories of the trial run, the simulation, that Asmodeus had erased from everyone\'s mind.
Today, he had done the same to Hilda but on a higher level of potency.
Once Hilda awoke from her slumber, she would possess every memory of her past self which had been erased before the second simulation with Yvonne had begun.
From the moment Hilda had consciousness in that simulation to the moment Asmodeus had hit the reset button on this world after his script was rejected.
Hilda would recall every memory she possessed during that period.
However, unlike Yvonne who knew why this world had been created and who its creator was, Hilda would remain clueless just as she was in the past.
To her, this was the world she lived in and nothing more.
Neither Asmodeus nor Yvonne were aware of the other person who would soon possess memories that she most certainly should not have.
Thus they were focusing on the problem at hand.
"So it was a subconscious error on your part?" Yvonne inquired while tilting her head.
Though it looked like she was unhappy with this answer, she was relieved as this meant that King Ophire was not her father.
They just had the same face and that was it.
As much as Asmodeus did not wish to admit his error before her, he gave her a quick nod in answer.
The incident that he had mentioned was one when she was still alive in her previous world.
She had not yet checked the Bird God\'s script then and had returned home for a peaceful dinner with her family.
However, their Grandpa Leo had said something to infuriate Vince who was never one to back down from a fight.
When the two men were making snide remarks about the other, Yvonne raised her head from her plate and just as she was about to say something to her brother, her eyes fell on the portrait behind him.
When her parents were still alive, they had spoken to her about it.
A month after she was born, her parents wished to commemorate the special occassion and her father had called for a renowned artist to paint a family portrait of them.
The husband stood beside his wife and in her arms was the child she had given birth just a month ago.
This was a family tradition as all heads of the St. Claire family would get a portrait done upon the birth of their children.
Grandpa Leo only had one son so he and his wife only had one portrait.
However, his son had two children yet only one portrait was made.
When Yvonne was born, they had celebrated it with much pomp and gotten the best artist at their disposal to fulfil their family\'s tradition.
Sadly, the same had not been done for Vince\'s birth as their mother had fallen ill after giving birth to her second child.
Vince too was a weak baby so all they could do was make do with a digital photograph as both the mother and child were in no condition to sit still for a portrait.
After the two recovered, they had been putting off this matter until later as there were other things that needed their attention.
In the end, Vince never got to get a family portrait with him in it as their parents succumbed in the accident before they could have one done.
Every time she looked at that portrait hanging on the wall, she pursed her lips as it could not be called a family portrait when one member was missing.
However, Vince always convinced her not to take it down whenever she proposed that idea.
She did not wish for him to be sad every time he looked at it but Vince reminded her that even if he wasn\'t in it, there was still his parents and elder sister in it.
Thus in the end, that portrait remained in the same place as it had been from the time their parents were still alive.
Asmodeus could perceive a deep sense of longing emanating from her and had understood that he had brought up some memories from the past.
This only made him feel worse about what he had done to her.
\'I promise to make it up to you.\' His eyes blazed with determination as he watched the child whose head had lowered by now.
His gaze then fell on the beast at a short distance away from them.
Demon lowered his head when the God looked his way, bowing before him once again.
\'Have you been protecting her well?\' Asmodeus questioned as his eyes narrowed at the etcher whom he had left in charge of keeping the child safe.
Demon nodded fervently as he had done his best until now and even reported to the Great God that nothing bad had taken place with her.
However, in the next second, he recalled a certain memory and wondered if it was something he should inform his God.
Noticing the hesitation written on his face, Asmodeus commanded him to spill everything and that was exactly what Demon did.
\'O God, there are times where my Master falls into a daze and doesn\'t respond when I call out to her.\' He revealed as his mind went back to the first time they had gone to the Valente estate.
She led them to the lake and was lost in a daze then returned that same night and once again behaved the same way.
There were other instances too which had him worried so he hoped that the God could help him out now.
