Chapter 155 - Take My Papa For An Example
Chapter 155 - Take My Papa For An Example
\'Pffttt….!\' Yvonne guffawed in her heart and covered her mouth the very next instant.
This was because if she were to let out that loud hearty chuckle then her father would not hesitate for a single second before persecuting her at the stake for her unladylike mannerisms.
Even if Yvonne had tried her best, she could not stop her shoulders from trembling even when she controlled her laughter to the best of her abilities.
The little chortle which she had let out but soon curbed had been clear to the two men who had been observing her for quite some time now.
"This is why I did not wish to make my troubles known to you!" Marquess Samed snarled as he pointed his finger in the direction of the young girl.
This action of the man from a higher noble family did not sit well with Rutherford who leered at him with stern eyes.
\'He should stare at his daughter in that manner and not at me!\' Sullivan looked away and gritted his teeth as he could not let his grievances out without being glared at.
Once Rutherford had handled Sullivan with a simple glance, he turned and focused his energy on the little girl who still had her hand over her mouth.
Yvonne had heard everything that her tutor had just spoken in his defense for the abrupt decision of quitting his job.
When he had mentioned why he had chosen to leave his tutor position, the little girl could not help but chortle as this had been out of her expectations.
\'I would never have guessed that he had opted to leave his job for the sake of finding his etcher.\' She snickered but soon stopped when she felt her father\'s eyes on her.
Straightening her back, she ditched the smile which was on her face before she withdrew the hand that had been concealing her toothy grin until now.
\'Oh come on! That was funny! How can you not laugh when he wants to quit for such a silly reason?\' She questioned her father through her eyes.
Surprisingly, Rutherford had understood what she had just thought in her mind and this elicited a warning glance from him coupled with a disappointed shake of his head.
\'Laughing at someone else\'s weakness is not a good thing to do.\' He chided her in his heart and decided that he would speak to her about this at another time.
Right now his focus was on the man who was on the verge of quitting.
\'I do not want to say this but this reason for wishing to quit is absurd!\' He too disagreed with the route that this man had chosen yet he did not speak about it at this moment.
Instead of ridiculing him, Rutherford decided to take another route to talk some sense into his head.
"Marquess, have you thought about the fact that you just cannot find an etcher while strolling through the streets?" He reminded the man about how rare and sought after these unique beasts were.
Marquess Samed was called the smartest man in the Capital so how could he not have thought about this aspect, therefore he raised his chin in confidence after hearing the Earl\'s question.
"Of course, which is why I have decided to venture outside the Capital to find my fated etcher." He declared with a proud smile for having thought of this brilliant plan.
"Pfftt…" The snicker diverted their attention towards the little girl who had sat in silence until this very moment.
\'I could not stop myself from laughing this time around!\' She shook her head at the low self-control that she had and made up her mind to work hard to fix it later on.
Once Yvonne had heard about his plan of action, the thought that had come to her mind made her unable to stop herself, and therefore she had indulged in laughing to her heart\'s content.
"Does Marquess wish to go to every beast he sees and try to touch it in order to make out which one is his fated etcher?" She investigated whether this was what he had planned to do once he left the Capital.
The dark pink flush that had appeared on Marquess Samed\'s face denoted that he had just that plan and was now embarrassed that his strategy had already been uncovered by this child.
Rutherford was just about to reprimand his child however he halted in his efforts when he noticed the red cheeks of the man on the other side.
\'She was right!?\' He shot a disgusted look at the man who had been entrusted with the education of his child.
The fact that her tutor had this plan after he had oh so confidently declared that he would quit made Rutherford to have second guesses about the choice he had made to ask the Marquess to tutor Yvonne in the first place.
Now it was Yvonne\'s turn to observe the changes in his expressions and she was pretty sure that she knew what had caused them.
Looking at the disappointed gazes coming from the father and daughter alike, Sullivan felt like burying his face in the ground to hide his shame.
"What else should I do to find my fated!?" He groaned while grabbing onto his head in frustration.
When Yvonne noticed how much this matter had truly affected the man, she decided that it was time to stop enjoying the fun of watching him making a fool out of himself.
It was true that she had laughed at him when she heard his reasons and his plan of action but once she noticed that he was so bothered about it, she would not try to poke fun at him any longer.
She was taught when to advance and when to treat and this was her moment to retreat as any step further could hurt the Marquess.
Soon a serious and somber look appeared on her face as she looked at the man who had helped her out on many occasions and hence she believed that now it was her turn to return the favor.
"Marquess, the worth of a man does not belong to the fact that he has an etcher or not." She began her speech in an attempt to make him feel better about himself.
Rutherford smiled at his daughter who was sensible and wise despite her young age.
"Vonna is right, Marquess Samed. So many eligible men in society do not have etchers of their own. This does not diminish their worth in any way." He added to support her argument.
Yvonne\'s appreciative nod made him feel special as he smiled at her and asked her to carry on with a nod of his own.
"Just take my Papa for an example. He is the richest man in the Kingdom… After the Royal family yet even he does not have an etcher." She explained while poking her chin out in Rutherford\'s direction.
\'Eh? Why are they looking at me like that?\' She scrunched her brows together and tilted her head when she noticed their strange reactions after she had spoken.
The two men were gawking at her as though she had just uttered the most ridiculous thing that they had ever heard in their entire life.
