Chapter 371 - Illusion

"Are you sure you want to do that? If you die, it\'s over, you know?"

Shane\'s eyes were ice-cold as he stared at his opponent, who seemed to be thinking about doing something that would needlessly cost him his life!

Holding the severed parts of the young Witura\'s body in one hand, and the Invincible Scimitar in the other, Shane began to approach the Witura slowly.

With the bloodlust-killing-intent released, he didn\'t even think about giving the Witura a second chance.

If he were to attack him, death was the only possible outcome!

However, just a moment later, the young prodigy from the Witura race couldn\'t endure the pain anymore. His vision blurred and it seemed to him like everything began to move on its own. Losing his balance, he collapsed on the ground.

[Victory, Shane(Human)]

Once his victory was announced, Shane sheathed his Scimitar once again before he threw the severed parts of the young Witura\'s body towards him.

Only a moment later a medic team consisting of robots appeared next to the combat grounds, and put the young Witura\'s body on a stretcher, before taking him away from the colosseum.

As long as one wasn\'t killed in the battle, the Primordial tournament would employ various resources to reassure that one wouldn\'t die due to the battle\'s injuries.

They wouldn\'t sew on, let alone regrow severed limbs, but only prevent the Witura\'s death if possible.

There were times this was not possible, but Shane assumed that his opponent would survive.

In the end, the Witura\'s life was still on the line which was mainly because he had forced himself to stand up and worsen the wounds he\'d already received.

The responsibility of that decision was on him and no one else thus he would have to live with the consequences of the paths he had chosen.

Participating in the Primordial tournament with his mindset, strength and weak will was his own choice and the same could be said for standing up despite knowing that he had already lost!

Shane simply left the arena without paying attention to the medic robots or Witura with only one thought in his mind.

\'Now that the Witura prodigy is unable to fight against the Fiendish Cheetah and Penta Illusion Monkey, did I indirectly give them a free win? How annoying…\'

They didn\'t even have to fight to gain the same number of victories he had.

However, instead of lamenting, Shane simply smiled as he stared at the two beasts that stared at each other with hostility.

Something seemed to have happened between the two while he had been fighting.

In his opinion, it was great that two beasts would fight against each other because none of them would give up during the fight.

One would have to die, or be crippled, which would render them unable to continue fighting for the fight to come to an end.

This would also mean that they would fight desperately, giving their utmost effort.

From what he had perceived, both beasts had roughly the same combat prowess.

Shane might be wrong with this, but even if it was the other way around, one beast was bound to be heavily injured, crippled, or even killed during the fight.

There might not be the need for him to fight two more times.

With that thought in mind, Shane began to wonder why the tournament had changed the rules of the first round.

By being forced to fight three opponents in short succession, it was likely that only one of the four might be able to continue fighting in the following rounds.

That was despite the rules stating that two participants could advance to the second round!

In the worst case, everyone could be crippled, which meant that nobody from a particular group might advance.

Somehow, Shane thought that this was quite ridiculous, and not something the Primordial tournament should be made for.

However, after giving it a second thought he realised that there was not really a big difference between fighting three opponents in the first round of fighting against one every round.

Injuring, crippling, or even killing each other was something that occurred often in the Primordial tournament.

It was rather uncommon to come out of a battle unscathed while losing!

As such, his own mindset might have been too rigid to sweep through the Primordial tournament without showing any mercy.

He had ridiculed his first opponent for not giving up, but was that really something one should do?

Furthermore, he had ignored the young prodigy from the Witura race before the system had even announced his victory.

With that Shane had not only made fun of his opponent\'s efforts to become strong, but it could have gone south too.

What if his opponent would have had a certain skill that stopped his bleeding at once or a regeneration ability?

There were countless ways on how his opponent could have changed the tides of the battle, taking him by surprise.

While thinking about the battle, he began to notice his mistake and started to mull over it through a critical lens.

In the end, he realised he had been taking the Primordial tournament too lightly.

Even though he had refined his body perfectly, others might have achieved a similar feat with two perfect refined states and one body refinement state with a peak [Diamond] technique.

This meant that his physical state might not be the strongest as his mana purity was way lower than that of others with the previously stated physique.

It was a disturbing thought but definitely possible.

Biting his lip while imagining all kinds of scenarios he hadn\'t thought of before, Shane\'s confidence that had soared through the heavens plummeted to the ground.

Being down to earth was the most important thing Shane had to pay attention to, otherwise, he might end up like the Witura he had defeated earlier.

Because of that, he intently observed the bloody fight between the extraordinarily fast Fiendish Cheetah, and the Penta Illusion Monkey. The monkey seemed to be playing around with illusions of itself which it had manifested all around the combat arena.

Their fight was both interesting to look at and boring at the same time.

While the Cheetah had yet to use any affinity, it was extremely fast and could tear apart the Penta Illusion Monkey\'s illusions at a rapid pace.

The Illusions the Monkey created didn\'t seem special at the first glance.

However, Shane could clearly tell that something was going on within the Fiendish Cheetah\'s mind.

From the looks of it, the Penta Illusion Monkey was utilizing several types of illusions to wear out the Cheetah.

This would take time, but that was not something the Penta Illusion Monkey would lack.

As long as it wouldn\'t be attacked directly, it could tire and confuse its opponent to its heart\'s content!

Shane perceived a few things he could employ later, and only 10 minutes later the fight seemed to be nearing its end.

Yet, contrary to his expectations, the Penta Illusion Monkey seemed to be more worn out than the Fiendish Cheetah.

It was panting heavily, and Shane couldn\'t help but stare at it in confusion.

Just at that moment, he noticed a distinct gleam in the Fiendish Cheetah\'s eyes.

"Is it using the monkey\'s illusion against it?? ...A copy? No, the Fiendish Cheetah doesn\'t seem to be affected...Maybe it mirrored the monkey\'s illusion??"

Shane was utterly confused and was unable to comprehend what exactly the Fiendish Cheetah was doing.

However, one thing was sure; both opponents couldn\'t be taken lightly!!
