Chapter 203 - First Question

As long as he asked the right questions, Shane could gain much more from them than he invested by giving his best in the two sparring matches against the Greater Elementals.

It had strained his whole body but Shane smiled brightly after he heard Old Emperor Kalur giving him the chance to ask three questions.

He was also sure that Kalur wanted to trick him into asking questions that nobody can answer to receive the opportunity to ask more questions in return.

However, Shane didn\'t plan to use this chance by being tactful because he could only think of one profound question which the Old Emperor might not be able to answer.

"What is the system\'s purpose? I doubt that it\'s sole use to be a samaritan, helping all races in the universe!"

This question was exactly what was on his mind since he had transmigrated to Igra and he was always wondering why the system helped all races unconditionally.

It didn\'t look like the system received anything in return which was confusing in Shane\'s opinion.

Hearing Shane\'s first question, the Crimson-colored Kalur stayed quiet for some time, not showing any fluctuations to describe his emotions before he answered.

"You got me young man...I didn\'t expect you to be curious about that...normally only the old generation wonders about the system\'s purpose….and it is extremely difficult to answer. I won\'t be able to satisfy you with my knowledge... I\'m sorry!"

Hearing that the Old Emperor couldn\'t answer him was not surprising, but it would already be enough for him if he were to get to know little information.

Maybe he could conclude something out of it...or not, who knows?

"The system\'s exact purpose is unknown but there are many possibilities which the wisest of many races have comprehended so far. In the end, three purposes for the system were seen as highly likely!

As for the first purpose, it is to govern any race below the system, controlling everyone. Those who follow the rules will be rewarded as long as they work hard, while those who break the rules will be punished.

You should have heard about the system\'s punishment, which prohibits certain individuals from entering the Primordial Dimensions ever again. At the same time, one will be banned from accessing the system, turning this individual into an outcast.

Almost every race uses the system for every single thing and once one can\'t use it anymore, the possibility to live even a half-decent life will diminish at a rapid pace. They get used to the system\'s help and guidance and cannot survive on their own anymore.

As such, the system might want to oppress everyone, which could suddenly change once something was to happen.

Imagine if the system gave you a certain mission to annihilate a certain race in exchange for resources you could never dream about.

[Legendary] and [Forbidden] quality equipment would be nothing against that and you might want to annihilate a whole race, only because the system would reward you!

The same would apply if the system were to order [Kill (???) or you will be punished]. This had never occurred before but the system could suddenly change if the administrator or whoever governs the system were to have a change of mind."

Shane nodded his head because he had imagined this scenario already.

The system could be waiting for something to happen before it would enter a chaotic state, demanding immoral things in exchange for rewards.

It was unknown what exactly the system might be waiting for, but this scenario was not unlikely.

"The second purpose for the system\'s help could also be to create a powerful army or perfect vessel for something. Every race gives their utmost efforts to become stronger and one can tell that many races became stronger over several millennia.

Overall, the average strength of most races that survive in the Primordial Dimensions, is increasing! In that case, could the system prepare the surviving races for a war against something else outside it\'s control? As for a perfect vessel, this was a doubt lingering in the minds of a few races that thought their prodigies would be taken away once they would attain a perfect foundation. This seems very unlikely but nobody knows what the system plans. As such, the latter could also be the system\'s purpose."

\'Prodigies taken away if they were to attain a perfect foundation?\' Shane was confused because as far as he knew, everyone wanted to attain a perfect foundation, but now the Old Emperor was talking about something like that?

\'It\'s only a possibility but it doesn\'t seem unrealistic if nobody would attain a perfect foundation…\' After pondering for a moment, Shane was ready with his second question when he noticed that Kalur was about to tell him the third possible purpose of the system.

"The third and last purpose many races consider to be the most likely is that the system was created by something extremely strong in order to protect a part of the universe. Its aim was to strengthen the weaker races to a certain degree within the Basic-dimensions before increasing the difficulty to ascend further within the Intermediate and Advanced Dimensions!

We noticed that almost every race with Dimension Portals is in a certain range of the universe.

Furthermore, there are many more Basic races within the Primordial Dimensions than Intermediate or Advanced races. Meanwhile, the allocation of most basic races is close to each other with only a few stellar systems separating them.

However, the most recent information we found is that the advanced races eligible to enter the Primordial Dimensions are located next to other foreign races!

In the end, it looks like the basic races are at the outskirts of the universe and the closer one gets to the center, the stronger such races will become.

Nobody knows what the center of the universe might be, but the Origin planets of more advanced races already had mana since the beginning of their existence which is entirely different to most Basic-races!

I hope my answer didn\'t confuse you further and because I couldn\'t answer your question completely, you will get to ask me two questions in return as I already said before!"

Kalur looked at Shane expectantly, eager to find out what other questions he would ask as it had been a long time since he hadn\'t been able to answer a question.

Shane\'s first question was already something that several hundred thousand races had asked themselves for dozens of millennia and nobody had found the system\'s real purpose yet!

However, after seeing how pale Shane\'s face was, Kalur couldn\'t help but be reminded that Shane was only a small youth.

He required a few minutes to process the information overload. Shane couldn\'t help but feel as if his head was exploding after he heard the three possible purposes that the system might have.

The right one could also be an entirely different purpose that nobody had thought of But, it was shocking enough for Shane who had heard quite a lot of new information in the past few hours and he mumbled,

"Safe haven?.... Strengthening? Vessel?... What does the system want to protect us from and why? Or does it want to oppress all races?"

There was no concrete answer and Shane took another 20 minutes before he noticed that Kalur was still in front of him as he stated,

"You have four questions left! You can also ask them later if you want to digest the information you acquired first!"

However, Shane just shook his head because there were several questions in his mind and almost all of them had to do with the information he got to know before!

"If the system is only supposed to help us become stronger like in the third purpose, what are the system\'s limitations that would prevent this and are other races without this support, able to become as strong as races that have access to the Primordial Dimensions?"
