Chapter 108 Counter
Gigi noticed the vibration from his walkie-talkie. He had to stop his attack and take a cover behind a stone. Gigi picked up the walkie-talkie. "Yes." He started.
Gigi\'s men had reduced in number due to the stupid killing in the Ghost Mansion but Gigi had not lost more than ten men in the Ghost Mansion.
After they passed through the Ghost Mansion, they were now dealing with undead wrapped in linen clothing. Thank god their guns worked or they did not know what else they would have to use against their Mummies!
Gigi touched his forehead, his mouth opened slowly. "Do you think it is necessary?" Gigi asked, he hesitated.
"We need him to face the girl. But if he fights right now, he will definitely die and it will be hard for us to fight the main three together at once." Gigi found it logical.
His eyebrows contrasted and his grip on the walkie-talkie tightened. "I wanted to fight either the Glasses or the Smart-ass Fighter, anyway."
He hung up the call. Gigi lifted his arm, it jerked, and a ball formed by the air pressure burst open a Mummy\'s head.
Gigi then opened his screen. [Exit the Pontianak Lair?]
And Gigi left the lair after his body turned into pixels. He did not even report to his mates that he was leaving. According to Kuzu\'s orders, he was told to keep it a secret, or else what is the use of changing positions?
Uragi stared at the slim wand\'s tip that was pointed at his head. "Do it," he said, "do it!" he repeated.
But Hitori took his time before lifting his hand above his head. Uragi closed his eyes and turned his head down.
Uragi clenched his fists and pinched his eyes closed when he felt the earpiece in his ear vibrate. The piece was clogged in his eardrum, preventing the piece from coming out.
"Run, find a way out as soon as possible." It was Kuzu, "Exit the dungeon and run back to the next Lair."
Uragi did not know what Kuzu\'s plan was and whether he would be able to leave the dungeon safely. But instead of sitting there, waiting for his death, Uragi decided to find out whether he would be able to leave the dungeon.
Hitori\'s wand came down, Uragi rolled to the side, got up, and ran to his sword. Hitori bit his lip, he jumped down the nest.
"Hydro pump!" Hitori had been trying to avoid water and Ice spells around Fierce because they make her feel weak.
Uragi lifted his sword to block the water thrown at him under high pressure. The water\'s beam crashed against Uragi\'s sword, pushed him back, and made him unable to withstand the force anymore. Uragi placed his both knees on the ground, and Hitori took a step forward.
As the distance between them decreased, the water pressure increased. It all depends on whether Uragi diverts the Hydropump\'s flow or Hitori manages to break through Uragi\'s sword.
Uragi opened his mouth with a slow groan coming out, Uragi pushed his sword and took a swift roll on the ground.
Hitori pulled his wand down with a straight face. He did not waste time and turned around. Hitori stepped on the nest\'s corner, grabbed a rock, and jerked himself to the other side.
Hitori could not see on the other side of the partition wall but he was sure Uragi would try to exit the dungeon.
Since the boss was asleep, Uragi was able to jump in and out of the fifth and fourth floors as much as he would like. But once he leaves the fourth floor, Fierce\'s health will be restored and he will have to restart the boss battle. Well, Fierce was healing herself anyway.
Uragi did not care about the boss anymore, all he cared for right now was his life and his need for backup.
A moment before Hitori was about to jump through the secret portal, a thought occurred to him that Uragi might try to deceive him as people do in the game of tab around a circular path or a table.
Hitori grabbed the rocks on the side tightly and restored his force. He almost fell on his back but somehow regaining his balance, Hitori jumped over the rocks once again.
He landed hard on Fierce\'s nest, she startle and lifted her head in confusion. As expected, Uragi had reached out for Fierce but on seeing Hitori he quickly changed the course.
His foot slipped at the sharp turning next to the partition wall. Hitori pulled his wand into the loophole and equipped his gun as he bolted towards Uragi.
Uragi dashed through the portal and exited the fifth floor, the entered the fourth floor and Hitori followed him but when Hitori reached the fourth floor, nothing but disappointment greeted him.
"Kamiya, Uragi\'s location, quick please," Hitori said. Kamiya was already keeping the track of Uragi\'s location since the beginning.
"He is out of the Hogosha dungeon," Kamiya said.
Hitori stared blanking at the walls around him. "Look out for the Pontianak lair, they are plotting something."
"Sure."
"I think they will attack two of you together with a force much greater, just be careful." Hitori came back to the fifth floor.
"I will, I will," Kamiya said.
Hitori nodded as he sat down beside Fierce and took a stamina potion.
"But what about you?"
Hitori took a big gulp and did not stop till the flask was empty. He let out a sigh as he pulled the flask away from his mouth. Hitori looked at Fierce, then replied, "I am staying here."
Kamiya disconnected the call. Hitori offered Fierce a few fire gems but she was already full-- for the first time, she was full.
Kuzu decided to scout the area around them. After Uragi\'s cowardly escape, the audience lost interest and the threat that Kuzu\'s guild possessed previously.
Kamiya was not the only one who changed the view but everyone else did. Most of them had not even watched the Hogosha\'s fight.
When Kamiya took a look outside, Kuzu\'s men were not waiting outside anymore. The audience had turned visible to the trio but only Kamiya and Reon bothered to take a glance at the hundreds of men staring at their multiple screens.
Since the raiding party had cleared the outside of the raided party\'s territory, the system allowed the audience to take a look at a bigger screen that appeared above their heads, their tiny screens vanished.
Kamiya navigated through the Yuki Lair, Kuzu was not there; the Hogosha dungeon, Gigi was standing on the fourth floor; the Pontianak lair\'s first checkpoint, again no one; the second checkpoint---
"Fuck!" Kamiya went back to the Hogosha dungeon. His heart raced furiously. "No way!"
His hands moved through the control panel, which he called Hitori.
"Hitori here," Hitori said.
"M-Move!" Hitori frowned due to the urgency in Kamiya\'s voice, "Gigi-- Gigi is on the floor!"
Hitori looked down at his screen. Indeed, he saw a red dot approaching him from the partition walls.
"Oye! Look at this," said someone from the audience.
"What?"
"The vice-captain has reached the Phoenix dungeon," he said.
The Audience quickly changed their view back to the Hogosha dungeon.
Hitori curled his lower lip and raised his hands to create a strong ice wall in front of him.
Fierce panicked as Gigi entered her five-meter radius because of the cold emitted by the ice wall.
Gigi ran past the walls, lifted his air cannon, and fired.
Ice crumbled on the other side. Fierce moved away and stood on her legs in the corner of her nest. The wall was tall enough to cover her.
\'I should have paid more attention to my screen rather than Fierce\'s head.\' Hitori searched for an opportunity to attack Gigi.
Hitori noticed a crack that formed in the wall, it might break anytime and Hitori did not want to waste his mana on a stupid wall.
"We need to take off," Hitori said. He turned to Fierce who bent her head.
\'If I gained the higher altitude, I will be able to attack him easily,\' Hitori thought on his way to Fierce\'s back.
Fierce flapped open her wings and squeaked. Gigi stopped his attacks and took a few steps back.
He watched in shock as a big bird took flight above his head. It did not take him long to snap out of his admiration for the bird\'s beauty.
Gigi aimed his hand cannon at Fierce. Hitori looked down and formed an ice shield that barely covered the big bird.
"Stand still!" Hitori ordered after reaching twenty feet in the air. Fierce turned around and stood right above Gigi\'s head.
"Mages... such stupid beings."
"What is he doing?" Kamiya frowned, "W-why?"
Magus watched with concentration. "Is he planning to sacrifice the fire Phoenix?"
Yaban watched in silence and so did Kuchiki. \'Does he has something for pulling such a stunt?\' Kuchiki thought.
Hitori\'s plan to gain higher altitude would have been true if he was standing on the walls, when Fierce went up, she became a perfectly open target for Gigi.
When Hitori threw a ball of fire at Gigi, the air force from Gigi\'s cannon cut through the fire and Hitori realized his mistake.
"Fierce! Dodge it," Hitori ordered, and Fierce acted on it in an instant.
Hitori was relieved when she dodged one attack. "Go back to the nest."
Fierce squeaked and accelerated towards her nest.
Gigi pulled his air cannon. He can not let go of such a beautiful chance.
"Hurry, hurry," Hitori muttered.
"He will make it," Magus\' friend said.
"She is fast, they probably will," Magus replied.
"Kuchiki?" Yaban looked, but Kuchiki did not reply.
Gigi aimed for his perfect shot. When Fierce was only a few meters away from her nest, Gigi\'s arm jerked.
Fierce\'s squeal deafened everyone, and a bunch of her feathers fell down along with her red blood. The turbulence almost threw Hitori off her if he had not grabbed around her neck tightly.
Fierce crashed landed in her nest, Hitori flew up and smashed against the ice wall he had created-- which then fell along with him to the other side.
Hitori quickly pushed the blocks of ice away, he saw a deep hole created right under Fierce\'s wing.
"Oh... no..." Magus was not surprised-- just sad.
The rest of the audience was disappointed, upset, and sad for the orange fire Phoenix.
\'Crap!\' Hitori turned around. \'Fuck!\' His eyes caught Gigi\'s glimpse.
His arm had transformed into a hollow cylinder. Hitori, in anger, raised both of his hands-- just like Gigi had.
Hitori stood on his feet, Gigi\'s arm jerked.
"Flamethrower!" From one hand, flames of fire swallowed the air cannon. "Scald!" Gigi could not reload quick enough.
On the other hand, hot boiling water was splashed over Gigi. Hitori did not show any mercy even when Gigi broke out in shrill screams-- yes, he experienced the pain.
"Scald!" Another splash of water burned Gigi\'s face.
Before Hitori could take another step, Kamiya stopped him. "No, retreat! Go back to Fierce."
That gave Gigi enough time to hide on the other side of the floor. Hitori clicked his tongue and strode back to his pet.
"So much anger... just for injuring a pet in a VR game?" Magus\' hand was shaking even inside his pants pocket.
Even Kuchiki thought, \'He is angry when scary--- fuck...\' He grabbed his shaking hands together.
"I need a defense wall," Hitori said.
"A wall that will protect Fierce against ten such cannon blasts, not more." Kamiya quickly prepared for one.
"Inform me if his men dare to enter my dungeon." Hitori turned around and placed his butt beside Fierce in her nest. "And if they dare to harm my Fierce."
Yaban gave Hitori a competitive glare when Hitori placed his hand on Fierce\'s head with affection.
"Such anger..." he muttered.
