Chapter 175 - Argh, I’ll never be friends with cheap people again!
However, Xu Jiaojiao still managed to run off halfway.
Dai Huimin could not get a call through to Xu Jiaojiao, and instincts told her that Xu Jiaojiao would first get to Cheng Ziming in Lin Mao. She then decided to head toward Lin Mao by herself.
It was after she had arrived that she found out Xu Jiaojiao had never gone there, and she had no idea where she was hiding.
Dai Huimin did not know that Xu Jiaojiao had gone to meet with Lin Chu first. She wanted Lin Chu to persuade Xu Dongguo and Dai Huimin to accept what had happened between her and Cheng Ziming.
“You have to clear things up with them, that everything you said wasn’t true. Tell them that you said those things out of jealousy for my relationship with Cheng Ziming, and purely out of spite for Cheng Ziming breaking up with you. You couldn’t bear seeing Cheng Ziming doing well in life so you decided to ruin him. Go! Go explain to my parents so that they won’t be against Cheng Ziming and I being together. You know clearly about how it’s like between Cheng Ziming and Lin Yuwen, they’re a loveless couple and divorce is all but inevitable. I’m not ruining their happiness if all there is between them is a piece of certificate. It’s just like when a normal couple finds someone better and breaks up to be with them! ” Xu Jiaojiao clinched on to Lin Chu’s arm tightly.
Lin Chu halted in her steps and turned with a stone-cold expression. She forcefully shrugged off Xu Jiaojiao’s hand.
Lin Chu felt nothing but disgust for Xu Jiaojiao’s words. She had intended to lecture her patiently, but all that was left in her heart was utter disgust.
Lin Chu held her breath and glared at Xu Jiaojiao coldly, suppressing her brooding anger.
Xu Jiaojiao had never seen Lin Chu this mad, only now realizing that Lin Chu’s coldness toward her previously was already her being nice.
Xu Jiaojiao took a small step backward subconsciously. She could not help but shudder in this situation.
“It is no wonder that you and Cheng Ziming got together, you guys are birds of a feather!” Lin Chu sighed coldly and stepped closer toward Xu Jiaojiao and spoke in a low voice, “Do you know what Cheng Ziming told me all those years ago? He wanted me to tell the Lin Family that I couldn’t let him go, and that I was jealous of him and Lin Yuwen, even though it was him who had eyes for the Lin Family wealth. What he said was exactly what you spoke just now, word for word, even the tone of it was identical. You were so shameless, willing to ignore what’s right or wrong. I know your parents made an honest living to give you a better life and raise your living standard. I would never lie to them for shameless people like you.”
“How could you say that! That could’ve been you who had that thinking back then! Cheng Ziming could’ve been right about you,” Xu Jiaojiao retorted stubbornly, her face green with agitation.
“Yeah, if I was what you said I was, it would help the case for me not clearing things up for you more.” Lin Chu laughed sarcastically. She looked at Xu Jiaojiao up and down and noticed that she was not dressed as luxurious as she used to. She asked, “Looking at how you’re dressed, you must have sneaked out, didn’t you?”
Xu Jiaojiao clenched her teeth as she did dress in the clothes that she got from the night bazaar during her university days. All the nice clothes gifted by Cheng Ziming were kept by Dai Huimin, and she wanted Xu Jiaojiao to return it to him when the opportunity arose.
Xu Jiaojiao found Dai Huimin’s actions laughable. The clothes gifted to her were women’s sizes and they fitted her nicely. What use would it be for Cheng Ziming if they were returned to him?
Returning them would show her being petty and small-minded.
Regardless, Xu Jiaojiao still ended up with nothing nice to wear. Dai Huimin even had eyes on her, making sure she didn’t leave with anything fancy.
She was supposed to come and tender her resignation, not go on a date.
Did she still intend to meet Cheng Ziming?
Xu Jiaojiao’s face immediately flushed red after being looked up and down by Lin Chu. She felt small and shamed compared to Lin Chu, who was dressed in a modern and chic style.
Lin Chu didn’t know what was going on in Xu Jiaojiao’s mind, and she never had the intention to berate her for dressing poorly. She only said, “You might as well meet Cheng Ziming yourself. If he really likes you, he should have figured things out and meet your parents with you to assure them that he could take good care of you. All other efforts would be useless otherwise. Instead of pestering me here, you should go see him and discuss with him what to do. If Cheng Ziming couldn’t even do that, then I would advise you to give up and stop your daydreaming.”
Lin Chu just could not stand by idly and watched and could not help but to give Xu Jiaojiao another word of advice. As for whether or not if Xu Jiaojiao took heed of it, that was something that Lin Chu could not control
At least she had tried her best.
Listening to her words, Xu Jiaojiao could not wait any longer, turned and rushed off to look for Cheng Ziming.
Xu Jiaojiao could not hold herself anymore and left to see Cheng Ziming in a rush.
Looking at Xu Jiaojiao’s silhouette rushing off, Lin Chu felt resentful toward her for failing to meet her expectations. She sighed and turned to go back up when she heard her name being called.
Lin Chu turned around to see Yan Zhiqing walking toward her.
Lin Chu was surprised. She had not seen her in a while.
“You must’ve started classes in college, right? How do you have time to come over?” Lin Chu asked, raising her brows. She was concerned if Yan Zhiqing came here to see Wei Zilin. She had to stop her if that was the case.
She had no issues getting off days and sometimes had it easy in her job thanks to Wei Zilin.
Lin Chu felt that Wei Zilin had helped her a great deal, and she would be remiss if she let Yan Zhiqing continued to pester Wei Zilin.
Yan Zhiqing raised her brow as she hated people mentioning that she was still in college, making her sound like a small kid and that would widen the gap between her and Wei Zilin.
Yet Lin Chu still had to bring it up every time they met.
Lin Chu was not stupid; she must have done it on purpose!
“My class timetable is quite flexible. I have nothing to do so why can’t I be here?” Yan Zhiqing shrugged and replied with a long face. She then sneered and raised an eyebrow and continued, “I wouldn’t have known the drama with your mother if I didn’t come. Your sister is a cheap one as well, seducing a married man and Cheng Ziming of all people. Both sisters romancing the same man in order, how tight-knit is the relationship for both of you.”
Surprisingly, Lin Chu was not angry at all. She replied with a smile,
“So, you do know that it’s wrong to be somebody’s mistress? Well, then you really shouldn’t help Lu Weining! She is way worse than Xu Jiaojiao. Cheng Ziming was the one that seduced Xu Jiaojiao first, and they had mutual feelings to be together. Lu Weining’s was a one-sided affair, pleasuring herself despite Yan Beicheng not heeding her at all. I feel that her actions are cheaper. Zhiqing, you have a bright future ahead of you. You really shouldn’t mix with cheap women since you have such a distaste for them. They could mess up your reputation and people might think you are...”
Lin Chu halted her words. She smiled and did not continue.
Yan Zhiqing understood what she meant, Lin Chu just did not mention the last word, cheap!
Yan Zhiqing shook in rage. She clenched her teeth and said, “Cheng Ziming is a married man and Xu Jiaojiao is the cheap one to seduce him! But you are not married to my brother yet and Lu Weining was only fighting for her own love and happiness. That is courage, it isn’t ... isn’t ...”
Lin Chu interrupted, “Yan Zhiqing, you are still young and naive, why don’t you use that brain of yours? I am married to Yan Beicheng and I can show you our marriage certificate. Would you like that?”
As she said, Lin Chu took out the marriage certification from her bag.
Coincidentally, she had the documents with her to process the ownership transfer.
Lin Chu didn’t know what documents to prepare for a transfer as she had never purchased a house before, hence she brought along her marriage certificate as well.
Yan Zhiqing was stunned at the sight of the certificate.
Her brother carried the marriage certificate around with like it’s his identity card and now Lin Chu too?
“Oh yes, you might not be used to me and Beicheng being newlyweds. Now that you know, don’t go mixing around with cheap people anymore, alright?” Lin Chu beamed.
Yan Zhiqing was speechless.
She felt like puking blood now!
“All you have to say is cheap, cheap, cheap! That’s terrible!” Yan Zhiqing could not rebuke Lin Chu and could only reply as such.
But she immediately regretted it as she herself had repeated those same words.
As expected, Lin Chu looked at her with a sarcastic smile.
“Now that you know that, let’s not call them that in the future,” Lin Chu said in a steady voice. “I’m fine with it, we’re family and what we said stays only within us. But your words would hurt the Yan Family if outsiders were to hear it. Zhiqing, don’t you care about family dignity the most?”
Yan Zhiqing had always looked down at her and was always saying about how embarrassing it was for the Yan Family due to Lin Chu being together with Yan Beicheng. Those were her very own words.
Yan Zhiqing, “...”
She did not want to speak to Lin Chu anymore!
A commotion suddenly came from the door.
Both of them turned towards the door instinctively and noticed a group of people huddling at the door, shouting indistinctly toward the road.
A young security guard rushed in and reported to a senior guard. “It’s a young girl. She rushed out without looking and knocked into somebody and fell. Now she’s bleeding profusely on the ground. The blood is all over and it’s harrowing!”
“Well, what are you waiting for? Call 120!” The senior guard retrieved his phone from his pocket as he spoke.
Seeing that, the young guard immediately held the senior guard’s arm.
“Brother Chen, don’t be rash. It is wise to be a good Samaritan nowadays. You make the call to 120 and you’ll have to be responsible for answering questions and would also have to accompany her to the hospital! She is still bleeding profusely and would need to be hospitalized. Who’s going to settle her hospital bill? People may not appreciate it and her family may screw you and extort you for money. Our salary as a guard is just meager and we surely cannot afford it!” The young guard explained, “You don’t go on the Internet often so you wouldn’t know, such things are common now! Those old folks are even willing to scam primary school kids, and you think you won’t fall victim?”
Brother Chen hesitated. But he clenched his teeth and decided anyway to call for an ambulance, “We can’t bother too much now, saving a life is more important!”
Listening to the conversation, Lin Chu had a bad feeling and rushed ahead, leaving Yan Zhiqing behind.
Yan Zhiqing was coming up with a reply when Lin Chu left suddenly. She was frustrated with Lin Chu being so random.
She clenched her teeth and chased after Lin Chu.
Lin Chu reached the doorstep and noticed the crowd at her left. She rushed over and squeezed through the tight crowd to see Xu Jiaojiao lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
Xu Jiaojiao was bleeding heavily from below, the pool of red blood a contrasting and distressing sight with her white cotton tee and jeans.
The only fortunate thing was that the ground was hot like the current weather.
As Lin Chu rushed over, she shouted angrily at the crowd who was busy gossiping and pointing fingers, taking photos and recording videos. “Since you guys are so free pointing fingers, can’t anyone call for an ambulance!”
“Who would dare to call!”
“What if it is a scam!”
“We are recording evidence before we make the call.”
“It’s a shame she passed out. If she’s awake, we would have to record and get her verbal assurance that she’s not a scammer before we call.”
“I’ve uploaded the video onto the Internet and tagged emergency services. They’ll come when they see it.”
Lin Chu gave up reasoning with them. A few bad scammers were all it took to diminish humanity.
She kneeled and patted Xu Jiaojiao’s face trying to wake her up, “Xu Jiaojiao, wake up!”
Xu Jiaojiao had completely passed out and she was not responding to anything.
Lin Chu was out of ideas, her lips tightened as she raised her head to look around. The crowd was still gathered about, watching but not helping. As the crowd gathered tightly, the air circulation was bad, the sunlight was blocked, and the surrounding atmosphere was dark and heavy.
She then saw Yan Zhiqing coming and pulled her over.
“What ...what are you doing?” Yan Zhiqing was taken aback and instinctively retreated.
Under such a situation, Lin Chu was uncharacteristically strong. Yan Zhiqing could not get away but instead got pulled over closer by Lin Chu.
“You drove here, right?” Lin Chu asked.
Yan Beicheng drove her to do the ownership transfer together, and after that dropped her off at the office. She had never driven since Yan Beicheng returned from his business trip.
Yan Zhiqing was stunned at the bloody sight and instinctively nodded without processing her question.
Lin Chu heaved a sigh of relief and said, “Come help me get her in your car and take her to the nearest hospital.”
Yan Zhiqing’s eyes widened as she saw how bloody Xu Jiaojiao was. Having her in her car would be so scary and harrowing!
After sending her to the hospital, she would not even dare to clean her car. What is more, those dirty blood were from Xu Jiaojiao’s womb.
Lin Chu was anxious, and nothing was more important than human life. She had no time for Yan Zhiqing’s concerns.
Noticing Yan Zhiqing frozen in place, she scolded her coldly, “What are you doing? There’s a life on the line!”
Yan Zhiqing burst into tears. She was overwhelmed seeing Xu Jiaojiao covered in blood, even her pants and legs were all bloody, leaving no place for her to carry her up.
“I ...I can’t move her ...” Yan Zhiqing cried.
Lin Chu noticed her fear and said, “You hold her upper body, just grab her arms. It’s clean there. I’ll carry her legs.”
Yan Zhiqing nodded tearfully, and like an ear of wheat trembling in the wind, she fidgeted around to Xu Jiaojiao’s head, switching positions with Lin Chu.
As she sobbed and held back her fear and disgust, her arms wrapped below Xu Jiaojiao’s armpits to lift her.
Despite that, both of them were still not strong enough to carry the deadweight of a fainted person. A conscious person would subconsciously hold in the weight to reduce the load. However, an unconscious person would go limp and hence would be heavier.
They were having trouble lifting and moving Xu Jiaojiao. When they managed to do so for a while, her butt grazed on the ground occasionally. Moving her to the car was out of the question.
“Where’s your car?” Lin Chu raised her head and asked, panting in exhaustion.
Her face was drenched in sweat under the hot weather.
She couldn’t help but thought that she had been spoiled by Yan Beicheng. She did much more lifting when she was with Xu Moyan. They even carried couches and now she couldn’t even lift Xu Jiaojiao.
Yan Zhiqing didn’t dare let go and with her chin, pointed to a red Beetle not far away. She said in a teary and shaky voice, “There ... that red... Beetle...”
She sniffled and kept weeping.
The roadside was parked full of cars. Even if she could drive the car over, there would be no place for her to park. Luckily, her car was parked not far away.
A normal short walk was made insufferable.
Lin Chu rolled her eyes. Yan Zhiqing seemed to be capable but she was useless.
“Stop crying. The more you cry, the more you won’t have any energy left. Show me your resilience!” Lin Chu said, exasperated.
Yan Zhiqing’s face was red, and she almost wanted to let go of Xu Jiaojiao.
But thinking that it’s a human life, she held back and glared at Lin Chu and felt like ignoring her.
Seeing that this was not working, Lin Chu noted that the crowd was still gathered but they had cleared a path for them as they moved,
She raised her head and asked loudly, “Can any of you help us? We need to carry her to the car.”
The crowd stood around watching, but none of them stepped out. Some had conflicted expressions.
Lin Chu tightened her lips, and shouted, “I promise you that you won’t be implicated in any way. I know this girl, and I will be responsible to send her to the hospital and what happens after that. I just need help to move her to the car.”
At this moment, a man clenched his teeth and stood out. As he waved his phone, he said, “Those were your words and I’ve recorded them. I’ll be ready if you scam me.”
The man kept his phone in his pocket as soon as he finished his words.
Lin Chu, “...”
She nodded impatiently and thanked him for helping. At least he was willing to stand out and help, not like the other bystanders who only looked and did nothing.
The man was strong, and with his help, Lin Chu and Yan Zhiqing were relieved from moving Xu Jiaojiao.
Seeing that Yan Zhiqing crying non-stop, Lin Chu held out her hand and said, “Give me your car keys.”
Yan Zhiqing handed them over with a trembling hand without a protest.
Lin Chu shoved her into the side passenger’s seat and opened the car’s backdoor for the man to place Xu Jiaojiao in it. She thanked the man, got into the driver’s seat and sped off to the nearest hospital.
With her condition like this, even without a doctor to diagnose, Lin Chu knew without a doubt that Xu Jiaojiao had miscarried.
Cheng Ziming was a scum. He had seduced Xu Jiaojiao and coaxed her to have an offspring with him. He had never wanted to be responsible for her and planned to ditch her once he got his hands on the baby and bring it back to the Cheng Family.
