Chapter 263 - It's Your Turn
Colt had mistaken Klautz\'s actual speed as something that was provided by a momentary boost due to a skill.
\'Such skills always have a cool down so he won\'t be using it again.\'
The cool down associated with such skills was almost always inversely proportional to the skill\'s rank. The higher the rank, the smaller the cool down.
\'Even the infamous Berserk skill had a cool down of a day. How could his skill be any better?\'
Berserk was a class and also skill that was sought after in the world of hell. One of the leading guilds monopolized such a power and only gave it those in the guilds who were able to have certain achievements.
It was a skill to be feared. And why won\'t it be? Just by activating the skill all of the stats of the wielder were boosted by a 1.5x for a minute.
No other class could compare to this one making the guild that possessed it to soar up in the ranks. A difference of one or two was already considered hard to meet and here the skill was multiplying skills instead of adding up!
Had Colt known about the effects of having the word \'Dark\' attached to the same, he would have probably fall unconscious in shock.
Colt smirked. He was having more fun than he had originally thought. The battle was drawing longer than he had expected which was certainly a good sign for both him and his pocket.
\'Should I start attacking? But that would probably mean the end of everything. I would have to dish out another 1000 gold to pick up another punching bag.\'
Colt was sure that Klautz would no longer be a threat to him. He was more worried about the budget he was investing in all of this than his opponent in front of him. But he couldn\'t be more wrong.
Colt smirked as he concluded that the match was as much in his hands as it ever was. Even without his special armor it didn\'t make any difference for him.
"What happened, aren\'t you going to attack?"
A deliberate move from his side to draw the battle further. Klautz had been attacking him frantically till now and as long as he keeps doing so, Colt can win the bet that he had placed on himself.
At first Colt thought of Klautz as an ant to be ignored and crushed. But now he thought of him effectively as a toy for him to play with.
But contrary to his expectations, Klautz shook his head causing him to crease his forehead. Why would he give up on the chance of attack? Colt had no idea.
"No, I am done. It\'s your turn."
Klautz objectives had already been met. Klautz had made a proper assessment of Colt\'s defense habits and also the defensive gear that he uses for now. Klautz also had somewhat of an idea of what Colt\'s defense and agility stat were.
Was there anything more for Klautz to make an assessment on? There were none. All aspects of defences were already known by Klautz with just a few glances and stabs.
Of course Klautz knew nothing about Colt\'s attacks. How could he? Colt didn\'t land a single attack nor did he wield any weapons.
\'But that is something for another time. For now this much is enough.\'
In the world of hell, stats indeed made the man. But in Klautz\'s opinion that was just a pessimistic belief borne by those who refused to fight an opponent with higher stats.
After all, stats only increased one physical prowess. Does that have anything to do with an opponent\'s mind? Their attack and defense patterns and their strategies would remain the same no matter how strong they grew..
Indeed, only a shinobi can reason in such a manner.
\'No more today.\' Klautz thought.
Klautz was just doing this for money anyway and he just thought to make the best of the situation. There was no \'urgent\' need for Klautz to be aware of such data.
But trying to find out his attacks would require Klautz to actually engage in combat. It would require Klautz to expose his true strength. Even his Detection Jutsu can only help him to a certain degree in hiding it.
Nothing could really help him without giving away his stats. Why should he go through such lengths? When there was not much of an incentive.
Of course Klautz would have been losing out on the 2500 gold of prize money but he had already bagged 9000 gold for practically nothing. It was the best exchange that he ever had in both of his lives. The value of 2500 gold didn\'t entice him to participate before in the first place.
*Cheers*
But contrary to Klautz\'s expectations everyone broke into cheers.
Colt raised his brows in awe. Was his challenger asking him to come and attack him? Hadn\'t his challenger seen the earlier matches and seen their states.
\'He should be at least feeling some reluctance and fear. What\'s going on here? Does he not care at all?\'
"Well, if that\'s the case. Brace yourself."
Colt didn\'t use any weapons in these matches in the first place. He was just punching his opponents to oblivion. A punch here and a punch there. With his superior strength that was all he needed.
Colt charged towards Klautz. Both of them were unknown of each other\'s identity but both of them acted according to their current knowledge and standing.
But as one would expect Colt had nerfed his punch enough to draw out the battle a bit longer. It was hard for him to accept but he couldn\'t really afford to hire too many newbies and create a hole in his already hole ridden pockets.
It was a rare battle that had enough humor to be able to go down in history.
