Chapter 217 Goddaughter
Chapter 217 Goddaughter
Keira said calmly, "I have something to discuss with Grandma; could you please step aside?"
Upon hearing this, Selena's expression flickered.
Then she smiled and said, "Mr. Lee is conducting a physical examination on Great-grandma and recording data; it's not very convenient right now!"
"Is that so?"
Keira's gaze turned colder as she looked at Mr. Lee.
Mr. Lee, holding a notebook, arrogantly nodded at her. "Yes, please excuse me." n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Keira sneered softly.
Selena then glanced around the room until her eyes briefly settled on a potted plant on the balcony. She smiled and asked Mr. Lee, "Can we have Clivia in Great Grandma's room?"
Upon hearing that, Fiona immediately said anxiously, "That Clivia is old Mrs. Horton's favorite flower, and that plant has been cultivated to the highest quality! If sold, it could be worth millions!"
Selena's eyes flickered.
Of course, she knew that; she remembered that Mrs. Cobb was particularly fond of Clivia, and gifting that plant to her would be perfect...
With that in mind, Selena gave Mr. Lee a meaningful glance.
Mr. Lee then coughed. "Indeed, having Clivia in the room isn't ideal; it disrupts old Mrs. Horton's rest, and it could affect our data collection."
Selena quickly said, "Then let's move it to my room first."
With a wave of her hand, the nanny who stayed behind to take Selena's orders immediately went to move the plant.
Fiona's face showed a troubled expression as she looked to Keira for help.
Keira lowered her eyes, finding Selena to be truly shameless.
One potted Clivia, which had no effect whatsoever on Grandma's condition, yet she made such a righteous fuss about it—was it not just to appropriate Grandma's belongings?
But...she touched her chin thoughtfully, then stepped aside after a moment.
What did it matter if it was moved to her room first? It couldn't escape the Horton family in the end!
Once she ascertained whether Corey Mills and Mr. Lee were colluding, she would then deal with this matter.
Seeing that Keira remained silent, Fiona could only suppress her distress and watch as they moved the plant. "Be gentle, that flower is delicate..."
Selena greedily eyed the potted Clivia.
No wonder her father always told her to stay on good terms with old Mrs. Horton, the founder of Horton Group, who still held shares in Horton Group and received substantial dividends each year.
Her private wealth was beyond count, and even a little bit slipping through her fingers would be ample for Selena to show off!
Upon this thought, Selena looked around.
She had just wandered through this room not long ago, and although it was merely a bedroom, it contained many items from the past!
An invaluable jade bracelet had been carelessly left on the bathroom counter by old Mrs. Horton, an utter waste!
Selena spoke with a smile, "Let me tidy up Great-grandma's room to prevent Mr. Lee from accidentally damaging her things..."
She called another nanny inside, pointing out the valuable items in the room, "This, and this, as well as this, and this... Take these to my room for the time being. I'll keep them safe for Great-grandma."
Keira just watched as Selena cleared out all the valuable things from Old Mrs. Horton's room, thinking this person really had no foresight!
Fiona felt sorry for old Mrs. Horton, "Gosh, that's really... I can watch over it for old Mrs. Horton. There's no need for you to do that!"
Selena looked at her gently, " Fiona, I know you take care of Great-grandmother's valuables, but after all, you are an outsider, whereas I am a member of the Horton family..."
After these words, Selena suddenly glanced at old Mrs. Horton's safe. She turned to Mr. Lee, "Does this safe emit radiation? Isn't it also not good to have it in this room?"
Mr. Lee smiled. "Senile dementia is mainly a brain issue. I see we have an electroencephalogram recorder here, which we can use. It's best not to keep metal items like a safe in the bedroom."
Selena immediately called someone over "Then move this into my room as well."
Fiona blocked the safe, "Miss Selena, don't go too far!"
Selena said, "I'm doing all this for Great-grandmother's health. Fiona, as a housekeeper, don't you wish for her to regain consciousness soon? Or have you stolen from Great-grandmother, which is why she's scared to wake up?"
Fiona was left speechless in shock! She had been with old Mrs. Horton for so many years, and this was the first time she had been accused of stealing!
She looked at Selena in disbelief and turned to Keira with grievance. "Mrs. Olsen, I didn't..."
Keira walked over and took her hand. "I know, don't worry."
With tears welling up in her eyes, Fiona spoke in a low voice. "The documents in this safe are too important; we can't let them take it away."
Keira's eyes flickered and she nodded.
Then, she turned back to Selena and said indifferently, "The safe is too heavy, you probably can't move it..."
Selena scoffed, "I'll call the security guards to move it."
Keira raised her eyebrows.
It didn't take long for Selena to call two security guards in.
After the guards heard the order, they turned to see Keira standing cheerfully beside the safe, and their legs went weak. They then turned to Selena stammering, "Miss Horton, the safe is too heavy; we can't lift it."
Selena was dumbfounded.
Keira kept looking at her. "If you want this safe, you and Mr. Lee can come and lift it."
"..."
The smile on Selena's face didn't change as she spoke cheerfully, "The safe probably doesn't have much radiation anyway. Let's forget about it."
Keira let out a scoff.
Meanwhile, at the parking area.
Nathan and Oliver had already rushed over.
Nathan immediately smiled at Uncle Olsen, "Uncle Olsen, to what do we owe this honor."
Uncle Olsen smiled back at him and then said lightly, "I heard Keira, Mrs. Olsen's daughter, married Lewis. Thus, it is only right and proper for me to visit old Mrs. Horton, and also to see how Keira is doing here."
As soon as he said this, Nathan and Oliver's faces stiffened.
They exchanged a glance.
Uncle Olsen caught the wary look in their eyes and asked coldly, "What? Is there a problem?"
Recalling his recent confrontation with Keira and the fact that he had insulted her mother, Oliver couldn't help wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, "Of course not... You're most welcome..."
Uncle Olsen narrowed his eyes as he walked toward old Mrs. Horton's courtyard, casually mentioning to Lewis, "Mrs. Olsen and I are old classmates, and her daughter—I came here today wanting to acknowledge her as my goddaughter..."
