Chapter 4 - 2 Milestone Rewards
Chapter 4: Chapter 2 Milestone Rewards
Well, there's only one person in the 18th branch, so there really wasn't much to choose from.
In an instant, a beam of light from nowhere struck Lu Yuan's right eye!
An indescribable burning sensation surged to his heart, and intense pain like countless steel needles upturning the sea in his mind, with nothing but rustling whispers beside his ears.
His brain seemed to stop functioning, with all thoughts and ideas turning into chaos, except for a point of clear, bright light hanging high, maintaining Lu Yuan's personal consciousness.
After a short while, Lu Yuan woke up sweating profusely in the grass and checked his body, finding no injuries.
He also discovered that he had acquired an ability named "Pioneer's Eye."
The sensation was quite extraordinary.
His heartbeat quickened, his clothes soaked through with sweat, as he instinctively glanced at the ground.
"A mundane weed, non-toxic, has seeded; with your level of digestion, it's indigestible. If you wish to experience the trouble of constipation, feel free to eat some."
"A mundane weed, its roots rich in polysaccharides, maybe you could steep them in water to drink, providing a small amount of energy."
"A mundane weed, containing glycyrrhizin, has minor effects of detoxifying, anti-inflammation, cough suppression, anti-tumor, anti-ulcer, and antibacterial properties."
The vast amount of information fed back from his right eye left him dazed.
He used the "Pioneer's Eye" to look at his right hand.
"A mundane human right hand, seems to have developed a bit of tendonitis from years of traditional handiwork."
"..."
Lu Yuan felt somewhat embarrassed and then observed his left hand: "The mundane person observed his left hand again; this time without tendonitis."
He had to admit that this ability was incredibly powerful and truly a reward worthy of the "Unique Milestone."
"God" had struck him down to hell in one swoop, yet it seemed like he was slightly lifted by a hand, leaving Lu Yuan unsure whether to cry or laugh.
"With this ability, can I manage to survive?!"
"At least, finding food won't be a problem!"
"The mundane person's pulse raced, seemingly excited."
But what's with this inexplicable tone of mockery?
Lu Yuan took a few deep breaths to calm himself down a little.
As for the so-called "Milestone of Civilization," it might be an accident, a bug.
Perhaps even "God" hadn't anticipated that someone would bypass the Safe Zone mechanism and arrive directly on the Pangu Continent...
A normal civilization would definitely be surveying its surroundings, hiding within a Safe Zone!
Without the Safe Zone being lifted, no one can come out!
It could also be said that God... didn't care!
God simply scattered some crumbs in his garden, indifferent to which ant carried away the food.
If you have the ability to enter the garden early, that's your skill!
But regardless, this little reward indeed gave Lu Yuan hope for survival.
Lu Yuan's expression hardened, and a determined light shone in his eyes.
"If I can find enough 'Milestones,' I can forcefully build myself up to be a Superman! A Superman who can somersault tens of thousands of miles."
"Then trekking millions of miles, it's not impossible that I could find the Safe Zone where the Earth People are and return to be an Emperor!"
But the next second, his expression contorted, and he leapt up from the ground, startled.
Because a python as thick as a water bucket, brown all over, had surged out of the nearby River!
Its length of over a dozen meters and the foul wind coming face to face made Lu Yuan's scalp tingle.
Seeing the tender and delicious food, the python opened its massive jaws, like a dump truck lunging forward fiercely to attack!
"A somewhat powerful snake that seems to want to turn you into its excrement, the current you is definitely no match for it."
Death was but a brief instant away.
Lu Yuan's pupils dilated upon seeing those two massive fangs; he broke into a cold sweat in his panic.
In the nick of time, he used his ability: "Different Space!"
Whoosh!
A large amount of underbrush was crushed.
The python struck out at nothing but air.
Its poor intelligence couldn't fathom why that succulent meal had suddenly vanished.
The bifurcated red tongue flickered in and out of the air for over an hour before it finally swaggered away from the place.
Lu Yuan's entire body was soaked with sweat, "Thank goodness it didn't wait around like guarding a stump for rabbits...otherwise I would have been a goner."
Only after he confirmed that the python had left did he deactivate Different Space.
He picked up a brown snake scale from the ground, as big as the palm of his hand, and as hard as steel.
[A scale that has fallen off the body of a snake, the edges are still somewhat sharp.]
"Seems like a decent weapon..."
Lu Yuan pondered over the scale for a few seconds, picked up a thick branch from the ground, grabbed a stone, and hammered the scale into the branch with a "thud thud thud."
He then wrapped it a few times with the vines that were everywhere.
He crafted a simple axe.
[A tool that looks suspiciously like an axe, signifying that its user has entered the Stone Age.]
Lu Yuan felt the security that the axe provided and took a few deep breaths to calm his tense nerves.
He still hadn't quite recovered from the shock.
Earth had inexplicably vanished, leaving only 17 cities scattered across the vast Pangu Continent.
Finding these human cities was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
What should I, alone, do?
Will a Different Space ability, along with a bullshit-talking eye, be enough to turn the tide?
Even the most elite special forces soldiers, faced with such a bizarre situation, would surely find their minds muddled before falling into deep despair.
After all, humans are social creatures, and without the larger community, even before worrying about food or disease, loneliness alone can torment someone to death.
Of course, Lu Yuan hadn't yet felt the loneliness; his mind was just a bit stiff, like rusted gears, not yet having the chance to feel it.
He walked cautiously to the riverbank and observed for a while.
[Very common spring water, with a smaller chance of causing illness if drunk directly, but it's better to boil it before drinking.]
The water was clear to the bottom.
He scooped up a handful and took a sip, cold and refreshing, with a natural sweetness to it.
Lu Yuan stayed on guard for the appearance of wild animals, chanting in his mind, "Milestone! God, please give me a Milestone reward!"
"I'm the first person to drink water from the River of the Pangu Continent!"
Unfortunately, after waiting for quite some time, the voice of God did not appear.
The so-called "Milestone" is not achieved simply by drinking a sip of water or eating a piece of meat on the Pangu Continent.
It has to be some kind of significant commemorative moment, a historical form of progress.
Lu Yuan's plan was a bust, which annoyed him.
By the riverside, he saw his own reflection: [A person in decay, emanating a dazed aura.]
Then he saw his right eye: [This is the Pioneer's Eye, an extremely great creation, a pity though, installed in a person in decay.]
Lu Yuan couldn't help but laugh at this bizarre commentary; it judged everything else as "uninteresting," "ordinary," "decaying," but it claimed he was extremely great.
How can you be so narcissistic!
"If I turn into some creature's excrement, wouldn't you just be an extremely great pile of excrement?"
[This person is not so decayed after all.]
