Chapter 321: Chapter 321 – Epic Comeback?
"Not so fast. Who knows if there is an epic comeback from the last team? We won\'t be sure until the competition truly ends."
— Can the remaining teams make a comeback?
— I mean… We probably should ban Breeze, Atlas, and Ferin from playing together. They are like cheat codes
— Hope is lost. But those players inside don\'t know this information, so they are still striving.
— Maann, I should\'ve placed my bet on OrangeSquash instead of MiceMice.
"Hehehe."
Someone in the spectator seat chuckled lowly. His body was trembling, and his fingers moved strangely.
"I am rich. RICH!"
That someone was BloodSucker. He looked at the small screen he opened. On the screen was a betting site for this competition. And he put all his money into it, totaling more than 20 grand, into team OrangeSquash.
The return was more than 5 times. Meaning he got a lot of money.
"This noble me truly brings luck. The team that I choose will definitely win. Hahaha, Breeze should be thankful to me."
Even when the game was still ongoing, BloodSucker was sure the team wouldn\'t lose. His luck was heavenly! Or so he believed.
"Oh, look at them. Three teams destroyed each other and managed to destroy that bigSACK and Jokegon\'s base. What a child\'s play. They need to prepare to get featured and become a drama with this kind of play. No one will be satisfied with this kind of final."
The 9 teams became something like a joke. Even the favorite team was utterly destroyed, unlike what happened in the Scrim.
Two teams were left. MWRifle and OrangeSquash. The former only had one person left, and he desperately tried to hold the fifth wave alone. Somehow, for some reason, that player screamed loudly to boost his own morale. It seemed like he still wanted to win.
Team OrangeSquash, who gathered in their base, didn\'t want to disrespect the last team. Max went out of the base with Ferin to finish their job after helping Flexy and Atlas deal with the fifth wave.
They headed to where the massacre scene happened just a while ago. When Max arrived, he saw a man walking toward him with a rifle in hand.
"He\'s showing up," Ferin said as she readied her sniper. "Shoot him?"
"Wait." Max stopped her by raising his hand.
He looked at the approaching man with narrowed eyes. The atmosphere was serious, as if he wanted to have a fair fight at the end of this final match.
The man from MWRifle walked like a warrior marching into a deathmatch. His expression behind the visor was serious.
Looking at him, Max also stepped forward, a sniper rifle in hand. His expression was rigid, like a cowboy marching into a fair duel.
Both of them stopped within the 15-meter range without any prior agreement. Sand moved slowly. The atmosphere couldn\'t be described in words. This was the final match! The final stand!
A silent agreement was made. Max nodded, and the enemy nodded back. They held their weapons tighter, finger in front of the trigger. One last shot that determined the outcome of this match.
Who would come out at the top–?
Bam!
An explosion resounded as Max gathered his will and preparation to shoot the enemy. The man in front of him had his head explode and his body turned to dust. He gazed at the spectacle in disbelief.
[Team OrangeSquash has annihilated Team MWRifle.]
[500 Annihilation Points have been rewarded.]
[Match Over!]
The notification woke him up. Max turned around and saw Ferin pointing her muzzle toward where the enemy last stood.
"Too slow!" The platinum-haired girl cried out as she threw her sniper rifle away. "What\'s with that silent stare? Are you cowboys? This is a serious competition. Why are you playing?"
"..."
Max was speechless. The end was supposed to be good, but it was ruined!
\'Return my seriousness!\' He complained in his mind.
Sighing deeply, he muttered to no one.
"Damn Ferin…"
His body was covered in blue light, and he was transported back to the base. The match was over, and he couldn\'t complain about the end anymore. Win was still a win.
Reappearing on the wall, he noticed there was a podium for them to stand at. Flexy was already standing on the podium and laughed loudly. Ferin followed suit and posed beside the orange-haired streamer.
Meanwhile, Atlas approached Max and patted him on the shoulder.
"Did Fer do something?" He asked, noticing Max\'s disappointed expression. "Sorry if she did."
"No, it\'s okay. I just had my moment ruined, but it became a good comedy in the end. I am satisfied with this win."
"Somehow… Sorry. I will scold her later." The blond-haired man said with an apologetic expression. "Let\'s join the others. We are in this together, so let\'s enjoy this victory."
"I guess so."
Max and Atlas stepped up to the podium and waved at the screens that appeared in the sky. Those screens showed the situation on the stage.
Colorful confetti rained down from the air. Fireworks filled the starry sky of the moon, celebrating the victory of the last standing team.
Spectators cheered. Most of them left due to disappointment because their teams didn\'t win. It was sad and disappointing. Max made a face, but Flexy quickly elbowed him.
"Hold on. We have no fans in this community, so they are leaving." The orange-haired streamer whispered quietly. "And our strategy is not exactly… kind. So, this is normal."
"I know." Max hissed, "But this is frustrating. Can\'t they just stay for a while to watch us lift the trophy?"
What allowed him to stay calm after that was BloodSucker. The vampire\'s strange figure stood out among the remaining crowd. He was laughing like a madman while being shot by a camera.
\'Well, good job sucker. Seeing him being here is enough, I guess.\' Max thought as he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"This is life, buddy. Welcome to the professional scene." Flexy grinned and laughed.
After a bit of celebration after the game, all players exited the capsules. Some were glaring at them, but MiceMice\'s team leader actually approached and gave their congratulations.
"Hahaha, we\'re really taken off guard. I hope to see you guys again next year." The slightly large man laughed in a friendly manner as he shook Flexy\'s hand.
"Me too, Asmo. Let\'s meet again next year if we have a chance."
"Great. We won\'t lose next time."
That became an icebreaker, and other teams approached them to say congratulations. Following that, Jack and Paul came over to interview the team. Lily was also called up to get interviewed, as she played in the preliminary stage.
The questions were about their feelings and how they reached this stage, which were easy to answer. After the interview, the team gathered together and lifted the trophy. As a leader, Flexy was given the chance to lift it first, followed by the others, with Lily being last.
Max felt happy when he lifted it as if he had accomplished something big. He had made his mark in this world. His name would be remembered and mentioned in the future.
\'This is a strange feeling.\' He thought.
Spectators clapped their hands. The chat was moving so fast with messages.
— Congratulations!
— Happy for you guys!
— Your tactic is strange, but you deserve this win
— FERIN!! You dirty little girl. I like your way!
— Last shot by Ferin is so epic. lol. I clipped it
— Breeze and RifleLife getting serious. Then Bam! Ferin killed RifleLife. That was so epic lololol
— Congratulations, OrangeSquash!
— Breezee!!
Reading the chat, Max\'s lips curled into a genuine smile. While a lot of spectators left their seats without watching them lifting the trophy, he was glad there were still more than 100K people in their home or VR world watching it.
"See?" Flexy smirked as he appeared on his side. "This is life. You lost something small but gained something big."
"Heh, you talk big for someone who only does this for fun." Max scoffed and put his hands inside his pocket, "But I guess you\'re right. This is life."
