Chapter 523 - The Bachelor and the Dog Food
Bai Muchuan’s hand on Xiang Wan’s waist tightened a little. “Did you learn to blow your own horn from Laowu?” He had a half-smile on his face.
“Don’t say that!” Xiang Wan blinked. “If Captain Quan hears this, he’s going to be very proud!”
“Looks like I need to lessen your contact with him in the future.”
“Why?”
“I’m worried that you might get so full of yourself that you will get lost, or rather, you might lose all of your feathers!”
Pffft! Xiang Wan giggled and rested her head on his shoulder, taking a glance at the bright sunlight up ahead along the corridor. “Bai Muchuan, let’s not quarrel and be at odds with each other. We should stay like this forever, does it sound good?”
“...”
Bai Muchuan remained silent.
“We will.” He lowered his head slowly for a peck at her cheek. “I’ll change my bad habit!”
Xiang Wan looked up at him. Her soft voice had a tinge of playfulness. “You need not change! I like you just the way you are... Even though you may be hesitating, you’ll still put me first and stand by me...” She spoke in his ear gently. “Sir Little Bai, we always have the same stance toward things. I’m really glad.”
Bai Muchuan looked at her, feeling a lump in his throat. “Mm, we really do.”
As he said so, he cupped her face and drew closer to want to kiss her.
Xiang Wan was surprised for a moment. “Don’t!”
Bai Muchuan asked, “Why?”
Xiang Wan looked towards the distance. “There’s a bachelor in sight.”
Tang Yuanchu was walking towards them along the corridor where Bai Muchuan happened to be back facing him. When Tang Yuanchu heard that, he was troubled. “Both of you... are really so unfriendly toward bachelors. Be glad that Captain Quan’s not the one here.”
Bai Muchuan turned to look at him with a calm look. It felt as if the earlier affectionate idol-like male leading character was non-existent as he asked him coolly.
“Everything’s arranged?”
Tang Yuanchu snapped his fingers. “Boss, be rest assured.”
Bai Muchuan patted Xiang Wan’s knee. “We’ll go back now and gave our bachelor Captain Quan a mission.”
Xiang Wan: “...”
...
Quan Shaoteng didn’t know that he was being talked about by them again.
He waited for about 30 minutes in Bai Muchuan’s office before the two of them showed up.
“Seeing you two always sticking together and behaving so intimately really irks me! Have I known it will turn out like this, I won’t be helping Little Xiang Wan out that night so you both will continue to avoid each other...”
Heaving a sigh, he stretched out his long legs while sitting on the chair lazily. “I should have taken advantage of it when both of you did that, that would have been a wonderful plot...”
Bai Muchuan gave a slap... on his shoulder. “The moment you learn not to talk so recklessly, that will be the time you get a girlfriend.”
“Tch!” Quan Shaoteng didn’t seem to care at all. “Why would I want a girlfriend? It’s troublesome!” he smiled arrogantly. “This young master is so carefree being alone. Why would I want to seek trouble for myself?”
Bai Muchuan shrugged his shoulders whereas Xiang Wan just smiled.
They knew that Quan Shaoteng meant what he said. The reason why he didn’t have a girlfriend was that he had never wanted a girlfriend to begin with... Nonetheless, they still rolled their eyes at him.
Quan Shaoteng almost shot them an annoyed glare but Bai Muchuan cleared his throat.
“Let’s talk about work!”
Quan Shaoteng: “...”
“We just came back from the hospital,” said Bai Muchuan, “Tang Yuanchu has made arrangements with the hospital. Now we need you... to act according to the script.”
“Script?” Quan Shaoteng could not understand. “What do you need me to do?”
“Be a doctor for a few days.”
“Oh? Orh.”
The moment Quan Shaoteng heard this, he knew what the plan was about.
“You wanted us to stay guard at the hospital so as to wait for the Dark Clan to walk right into our trap!?”
“Yes!” Bai Muchuan paused for a second. “This mission will be given to the Operations Team. When you arrive at the hospital, there will be someone who would brief you of the hospital routine. The only problem is, you don’t have female officers in your team...”
Bai Muchuan furrowed his eyebrows slightly as he mulled over the problem.
From the current condition of the fake Xuan Yue, female nurses were the most convenient ones to take care of her.
Of course, there was no lack of nurses in the hospital. But this was a mission that required absolute secrecy, it would be best to use their own people.
Also, it would be best for the female officer to know some basic nursing knowledge so no one would see through their plan.
Quan Shaoteng looked at Bai Muchuan. “You already have someone in mind?”
He knew that Bai Muchuan had always been a meticulous person. Since he had already come up with this plan, he must have thought of whom he had in mind.
Bai Muchuan nodded his head. “I have two persons in mind—Mei Xin and Miao Zichen! Both of them are girls and definitely knew basic medical and nursing knowledge. No one could see through their disguise as a nurse. Moreover, they are a safe choice as one worked mostly in the office while the other just came back from overseas. The only problem is...”
“You’re worried about their safety?”
Quan Shaoteng could already tell what Bai Muchuan was concerned about.
After that, the corners of his sexy lips quirked upwards, both eyes beaming in confidence. “What’s there to worry when you have me around?”
Bai Muchuan showed a frown. “They’re our female comrades after all and it’s their first time participating in a mission.”
They were considered the police but there was a huge difference between them. Mei Xin and Miao Zichen were no different from ordinary women who were not trained in combat unlike someone like Quan Shaoteng.
A flash of doubt appeared in Quan Shaoteng’s eyes for a moment. “So, since you already decided to let them partake in the mission, what’s the point of telling me all this?”
Bai Muchuan had a half-smile on his face. “Both of them are in Cheng Zheng’s team, you need to obtain his approval!”
Quan Shaoteng: “...”
Now he finally understood.
Whatever he had said upfront was simply because he wanted him to do some legwork.
Bai Muchuan and Cheng Zheng were at loggerheads, everyone knew about it. If he directly issued an order to take away both of his team members to participate in such a dangerous mission, Cheng Zheng might refuse to cooperate.
“You’re really my ‘good’ brother!” Quan Shaoteng sneered. “You just passed a hot potato to me.”
“Aye!” Bai Muchuan looked at him seriously. “Good brothers share weal and woe.”
“Hurhur!”
Quan Shaoteng gave him a disdainful look but did not object to it.
In his mind, it was the task that chose the person and not the other way round.
He had come from the Military after all, where all given tasks and commands had to be abided no matter how unsatisfied one might feel.
“But I have a question.” Quan Shaoteng raised a doubt after hearing out his plan. “How are we going to pass the fake information to the Dark Clan that the woman had come to?”
Bai Muchuan looked at him with a joyful expression. “You’re being more careful now! Not bad, you’re improving.”
Quan Shaoteng snorted. “Tch, I’m asking you a question.”
Bai Muchuan didn’t answer him directly but suddenly turned around to Xiang Wan who had been keeping quiet.
“Teacher Xiang, do you have any thoughts about this?”
Eh?
Was he asking for her opinion or was he just trying to test her?
Xiang Wan gave a quick thought about it. “We’ll directly let them know that we knew the identity of the fake Xuan Yue to make them worry about it.”
Quan Shaoteng chimed in, “Her real identity?”
All identification documents on fake Xuan Yue belonged to the real Xuan Yue—Wen Mengyue. Currently, they were still unclear about her real identity and personal information.
Quan Shaoteng’s eyebrows were closely knitted together as he looked at the crafty couple before him. “That’s the crux of the matter. Do you two know her real identity?”
Bai Muchuan shook his head. “Not at the moment.”
Quan Shaoteng frowned. “Then why are we talking about it?”
Xiang Wan was contemplating over the matter and she glanced at Bai Muchuan. “There’s one way to find out her identity.”
