Pregnant After Healing the Alpha

Chapter 54 - 52: Call Her Professor Qiao?

Zhan Nanqing walked over with a puzzled look and her eyes widened instantly like copper bells after seeing what was happening in the alley.

With a shoulder throw, Qiao Jing flung a punk with purple hair out, “Bang—” he crashed heavily onto the ground.

“Ow—” The purple-haired punk lay on the ground, gritting his teeth and rolling around in pain.

So impressive?!

Not only that, but other punks were lying all over the ground in disarray as well.

Did Qiao Jing take them all down by herself?

Expressionless, Qiao Jing dusted off her hands and looked towards the girl crouching in the corner.

“Are you okay?”

“N-no, I’m fine.”

Qiao Jing took off her jacket and handed it to the girl, “Put this on.”

“Tha-thank you…”

After speaking, the girl could no longer suppress her emotions and began to cry out loud.

“Wuwuwu—wuwuwuwu—”

Qiao Jing sighed softly, reached out to embrace the girl in her arms, and gently patted her on the back.

“It’s all right now, it’s over. I’ll send all these people to the police station so they can’t come out and harm anyone again…”

The more Qiao Jing spoke, the harder the girl cried.

Zhan Nanqing watched this scene, and looking at Qiao Jing’s righteous demeanor, she felt an indescribable complexity in her heart.

Afterward, Qiao Jing brought the girl and the gang of social misfits to the police station.

Upon seeing that it was Qiao Jing who had arrived, Captain Zhao immediately came out to meet her personally.

“Miss Qiao, you’re here again?”

The word “again” was used quite subtly.

In less than a month, Qiao Jing had brought in three batches of people.

First was the head of the Zhan Family, and after that, the young Miss from the Deng Family, who is still in custody. And now suddenly another seven or eight, all of whom looked like members of a shady society based on their attire.

“These people intended to harm her, so I brought them here,” Qiao Jing said.

“Alright, take a seat; I will start interrogating them one by one,” Zhao stated.

Zhan Nanqing covertly watched from outside, standing too far away to hear what Captain Zhao and Qiao Jing were discussing, but she noticed that Zhao was as respectful to Qiao Jing as before.

Strange?

Why was Captain Zhao so polite to Qiao Jing? Could it simply be because Qiao Jing had helped Zhao solve a case before?

After questioning and sorting out the case, Captain Zhao brought a cup of Pu-erh tea to Qiao Jing.

“Miss Qiao, have you been busy lately?”

Qiao Jing took a sip of tea and raised an eyebrow, “Is there a case you need my help with?”

Having guessed his intent, Captain Zhao’s old face reddened.

“It would have been alright if it were any other case, but over the past month, there have been 5 child trafficking cases in succession. The most recent one was even worse, with criminals attempting a brazen robbery inside a shopping mall.”

Upon hearing this, Qiao Jing’s expression turned cold.

She despised those child traffickers the most, those without humanity, becoming the nightmare of many families.

And then there was her good friend, Lin Xiuxiang, who was also abducted as a child. Though she was eventually rescued, Lin Xiuxiang was too young to articulate where her home was or the names of her parents. Consequently, she was sent to an orphanage.

Qiao Jing had tried to help Lin Xiuxiang find her family, but even now, there had been no news.

“Any clues?”

“These criminals are part of a syndicate, and every action they take is meticulously planned, leaving almost no trace. It’s only during the most recent case at the mall that we found a little clue.”

“Oh? What is it?” Qiao Jing asked.

“When the suspect ran out of the mall, he bumped into a guide dog. His hat fell off, revealing a bald head with a dragon tattoo on it.”

After gaining more understanding for a while, Qiao Jing left the police station.

Zhan Nanqing felt lost. Why did they take so long to come out? What were they talking about?

Afterward, Qiao Jing went to the research institute.

Zhan Nanqing clearly saw the security guard call out to Qiao Jing with great respect.

Because the distance was too far, she couldn’t hear very clearly.

It seemed… like… Professor Qiao?

“How is that possible?” Zhan Nanqing scoffed aloud.

If she were Professor Qiao, she’d bow her head to the ground and let Qiao Jing sit on her head to play Dou Dizhu.

She ended up waiting for five hours.

Zhan Nanqing was afraid of losing track of Qiao Jing, so she didn’t leave at all.

“Gurulu…” The sound of a growling stomach broke the silence.

“I’m so hungry! Did Qiao Jing die in there or something? She’s been inside for ages and still hasn’t come out.”

As she spoke, her stomach growled again.

Zhan Nanqing rubbed her own belly and glanced at the institute’s entrance.

Qiao Jing probably wouldn’t be out anytime soon, so she might as well go eat something.

Just as Zhan Nanqing was about to leave, she saw Qiao Jing coming out of the institute.

“Damn Qiao Jing! Are you doing this on purpose? You know I’m about to go eat and you choose this moment to come out, neither earlier nor later!”

Zhan Nanqing complained inwardly while following her, having followed the whole afternoon and with nightfall approaching. She hadn’t caught Qiao Jing doing anything incriminating; if she continued, wouldn’t she have wasted an entire day on Qiao Jing?

While she was thinking this, she saw Qiao Jing enter the Red Cross Society.

What was she doing in there?

Fearing that Qiao Jing would notice her, Zhan Nanqing didn’t go in but waited until Qiao Jing came out to keep following her.

Eventually, Qiao Jing went to the market and came out with a lot of groceries.

Qiao Jing was on the phone, “I bought beef bones planning to make a stew tonight—it’s good for your injuries. I also got some other groceries. What time will you be home tonight?”

Upon hearing this, Zhan Qipei immediately dropped what he was doing.

“I’m all done here, I’ll head back right now.”

Tang Yan, sitting nearby, widened his eyes at Zhan Qipei and then at the pile of files that resembled a mountain. He thought to himself, how did you manage to say that with a straight face?

After hanging up the phone, Zhan Qipei looked at Tang Yan, “The rest of the work—I’ll leave to you.”

What?!

No sooner had Qiao Jing just gotten home than Zhan Qipei followed, helping to wash the vegetables.

He finally got to eat the meals made by Qiao Jing once again.

These past few days, Qiao Jing was always busy at Professor Qiao’s institute, coming back home very late.

Not being able to eat Qiao Jing’s cooking made him lose quite a few pounds.

Zhan Nanqing stood outside the door, hesitating for a while before going up to knock.

Upon opening the door, she saw Zhan Qipei with a handful of vegetables.

“Why are you here?”

Zhan Nanqing stared at the vegetables in Zhan Qipei’s hand, opened her mouth in astonishment, “Brother, what are you, uh, doing?”

“Washing vegetables,” Zhan Qipei replied, very nonchalantly.

Zhan Nanqing blinked, at a loss for words.

“Is there something you wanted?” Zhan Qipei asked.

“No, just came to see how you were.”

“Alright, you can leave now,” Zhan Qipei instructed her to leave.

Zhan Nanqing’s mouth hung open.

At that moment, the voice of Qiao Jing came from the kitchen.

“Zhan Qipei, what are you doing? Hurry up and wash the vegetables; they are waiting to be cooked.”

“Oh, coming,” Zhan Qipei responded, then with a “clack—” closed the door.
