Chapter 61: 61:Blackmail Complete
"I'm in deep trouble, and now you're adding more to it?"
"It's good that you are in hospital otherwise I would personally break—"
Before Jay could respond, Darpan cut the call abruptly, leaving Jay and Denna seething in their own frustrations.
.....
The results came out soon.
In just two days, the entire scenario seemed to have changed.
Evan's problem with the food license disappeared and he also received an email stating that he could resume his business and it was them who had mistakenly seemed to have tested other resultant test samples.
Evan expected this result, but what was expected was a report card.
Even before his 8th-semester projects could be submitted, Evan was passed and all work was done.
It was just the icing on the cake and with this, all the obstacles on his first mission had been overcome except for the final goal of achieving a net worth of 10 million USD.
With all the developments, that goal now seemed just a flick of fingers away, especially with the huge gift Darpan was going to send him.
_____
Two days later….
A convoy of jeeps lined up in front of the 5-Star Hotel…
From Convey, several men dressed in black suits walked out before gathering around the center.
A man took the lead and opened the door, from which a handsome young man emerged, causing the onlookers to wonder and murmur.
"Huh! Who is this young master? I don't think I have ever seen him before."
"Maybe he isn't from here but from one of the big cities."
"Hey, stop murmuring and quickly help them. Maybe we can get some good tips."
A wave of awe spread around, and the young man in the midst of this made an embarrassed expression.
Evan glanced around and wanted to lower his head but that would be too embarrassing, isn't it?
In fear of Darpan playing tricks on him, Evan had hired many bodyguards for help. Each was directly picked with the help of Ryan from the detective agency.
Each bodyguard was highly skilled with fighting strength with the peak at the beginner or Intermediate stage. So, unless Darpan hired specially trained combat guards or troops, there wasn't any danger.
Yea, unless a sniper was lurking around.
Thinking this Evan felt a chill.
If possible, Evan didn't want to meet the person anymore, but Darpan had insisted since he couldn't transfer the money online or by cheque since it may be prone to some problems and so he needed to sign a fake agreement as a disguise the transaction, or else Evan's home would be raided by the income tax officers.
Evan didn't know he was bluffing, but after contacting Abhijeet, he realized one thing; although they couldn't be sure about Darpan, Evan's home would surely be raided.
"Evan, what are you thinking? Are you still worried about safety?"
Evan snapped his head toward the detective, who was like a distant friend.
"Nothing, let's go."
_____
Inside a privately owned room, only two people were present.
Darpan Biswas…
Contrary to his previous look, his expression was quite darkened with a haggard-looking face, with two dark circles around his eyes.
Because of the fatigue, he ordered coffee along with some other things to supplement and refresh his mood.
Meanwhile, beside him stood Mina, who was sneaking curious gazes at him. She didn't know what had transpired in the background since out of nowhere, her boss went mad and asked her to draft documents.
Just then…
CRUNG!
The door of the room was opened, and two black men entered, followed by Evan and a few more.
The cup in Darpan's hands almost slipped and he choked, coughing loudly as he saw Evan approaching.
"What is this?" Darpan couldn't help but ask in bewilderment.
"Precaution. After all, who knows what you could do to me," Evan answered, taking his seat before Darpan, whose eyes twitched.
Seeing him dazed, Evan pressed on. "Did you accept defeat? It's just hard to trust people like you?"
Darpan stared at Evan's complicated expressions and sighed.
"Hmph!" He then snorted and spoke with a furious tone.
"Did you compare me with some brain-dead guys who grew up on their parent's money? I worked hard, founded this company, and got here with my own efforts. I know when I should push and when to stop."
"Oh, really?" Evan chuckled and folded his arms, "Then tell me about such an instance."
Evan didn't know if he was dragging it out, but he took a moment so that he could finally see this guy's panel.
[ Name: Darpan Biswas.

Professional Leadership [250/1000]
Impression: 13 ]
Witnessing this, Evan was so dazed that he wasn't able to react.
13 impression points…fucking hell, even his own adopted parents didn't think so highly of him.
To hide his clumsiness, Evan could only mutter briefly.
"Do you know Esplanade Mall…? The land belonged to me. Being at the center of the main city, when BBSR had just started developing, I wanted to make a housing complex there, but…"
Anger flashed on Darpan's face and he clenched his fist and continued, "But using his family power, a son of bitch kidnapped me, put a gun on my head and forced me to sign the deed and transfer the land. With no option, I cried tears of blood."
"That's unfortunate," Evan nodded, showing a saddened expression, "My condolences.."
"Was it Noah's father's doing, cause as far as I remember it…"
"Yes, it was indeed that fuckers Beats…" Darpan confirmed.
"And this wasn't even the worst of it. There was a time when…"
Seeing Darpan and Evan conversing, Mina, Ryan and the bodyguards were startled, wondering if this was a dream since both of them talked as if they were some old friends and not enemies.
Meanwhile, Evan was genuinely impressed by the stories. He didn't know how much of them were true, but all the lands Darpan mentioned were indeed sold and there wasn't much money earned from them. It was a novel experience to hear another man's woes, especially when it was his enemy.
Darpan, who had lost himself in his talks, suddenly paused and then stared at Evan.
"Hey, did you do something to me? Why am I wasting my time on all this bullshit?"
"Who knows? Let's proceed with the deal?" Evan smirked with a sigh. It seemed this was the end of Darpan's ill will.
Mina drew up an agreement. It was a fake agreement about a business where Evan was going to strengthen the cyber security of Biswas Enterprises for the substantial sum of….
Seeing the huge money, Darpan almost faltered, trying to hide his tears. The money was saved to open a few private hospitals and Medical Colleges, but since it was gone, he could only resort to his secret savings of black money.
Taking the agreement, Evan read the terms carefully. Using a video call, he sent it to Abhijeet for further consultation.
In it, there was a clause where Evan couldn't leak any details of Biswas' enterprise. It was a binding hidden term sneaked in by an old fox.
As expected of the cunning guy, once Evan signed, if he leaked anything and even if Darpan went down, he could drag down Evan along with him. The team asked Evan to change it, but Darpan was adamant as it was a safety measure.
Finally, Evan agreed since it didn't mean much once he got the money. He laughed inwardly at Darpan.
Just because he couldn't leak it himself didn't mean that others couldn't. He just needed to use someone else to stab Darpan in the back.
As for deleting everything, both of them this was impossible, so all Darpan could do was swallow his pride and regret provoking Evan.
After signing the deal, Darpan and Evan shook hands, but at that moment, Darpan held Evan's hand tightly.
"Evan, did you do it?"
"What?"
"My son's injury. Did you have a hand in it?"
A bead of sweat was formed on Evan's forehead. This old fox was cunning.
Suppressing his intrusive thoughts, Evan shook his head, "No…"
"Why do I need to do something useless when I can just use you to twist his neck for earlier grievances…?"
Darpan expression twisted. He had thought that it would surely be Evan, but if it wasn't him, then who was?
Evan got up to leave but before that decided to throw in one last question.
"Why didn't you people kill me, or you are planning to use it later?"
"I am not a fool to do this," Darpan clicked his tongue.
"Killing is quite common out here, but it always leaves evidence since there is no perfect crime. Your enemies just need to know you have killed someone and once they do, they won't even need evidence; they can just forge people and use various means. And unlike many, I don't have the huge family backing to suppress this, so I don't want to take a step and allow others to kill me entirely."
"I lost a huge sum, but still it's like a drop…"
Hearing this, Evan screamed in his mind.
'Damn! I knew this…I should have squeezed this fucker more…'
