Chapter 427 Trouble after Trouble
Chapter 427 Trouble after Trouble
But when Alex and Lady Rosalba arrived at the city and made their way toward the city guard building to meet the captain general, they were surrounded in moments, with the two early Sixth Stage captains coming to detain them.
Alex knew he was not being attacked because the soldiers recognized him as the one who was caged in the dungeon for disrespecting the Seraphina patriarch because his mask was changed, and Lady Rosalba was also in disguise.
Alex tried to calm the situation but was told that he could only expect a merciful death by giving them the man named Yarikhas he and his group had taken from the dungeon.
Alex didn\'t need to be a genius to know that something had happened in the dungeon while they were away, and seeing how the guards seemed to know who they were, he instantly knew that this was something done by Halagax.
As team members, they could track each other general location, so in an instant, Alex checked the location of Halagax, and sure enough, that bastard was present in the guard building.
Alex told Lady Rosalba to leave as he sensed the wild aura coming from the building, and just as he did, a peak Sixth Rank Seraphian, the city guard captain general, came out.
Alex tried to tell the general how he knew about the core for the ancient weapon, Angle\'s Wrath, and even shared where it could be found, but his words fell on deaf ears as he was called a liar and a threat to the Seraphian clan, who needed to be detained.
So, with no choice left, Alex engaged with the general, but their battle did not last long as the moment Lady Rosalba decided it was best she should die and not waste any of her strong skills, he made his escape.
Alex and the team were chased around the city, and just two hours after making no progress, Gregnor, the monk, said he would get caught and try to make the situation clear and also share the location of the core.
But just as they feared, Gregnor was detained with all his words taken as lies as he was only asked to share the location of the man named Yarikhas Rafeon, a prisoner they supposedly took from the dungeon, while the monk was mentally tortured into answering.
After seeing the situation going nowhere, Nereus made it clear that the city was a lost cause and that he would rather spend his time hunting and farming points than try to find a way to convince the people coming for his life that they wanted to save the city.
Lady Rosalba suggested that when the situation was dire, they could tell them of their finding again, and surely the Seraphian clan members would be dumb enough not to take their words seriously when the core was their last hope of survival.
However, Alex knew that Seraphian had pride like that of a mountain, and before they had some chance of convincing them of their words, but after they were painted criminals and threats to their clan with their words, nothing but a way to deceive them, it was going to be nigh impossible to convince them.
But Alex was not ready to just stop now when he knew that making a million or two individual points wouldn\'t matter, and the only way to do well in this event was by saving the city.

(16 hours into the Sixth Day)
"This decade of the Blood Eclipse will go down in history as the worst ever witnessed, and seeing how bad today was, I fear for the worst possible case,"
"We are only halfway into the Sixth day, and out there are at least as many beast kings present on the battlefield today as the worst recorded last day three decades ago,"
"We have already lost all three islands of the second ring, on top of the loss of thousands of brothers and sisters, and at the rate, those monsters are showing, I do not know how this day will end, let alone the final day of this accursed apocalypse,"
"The unexpected arrival of multiple beast kings even cost me three members of my team," A bald-headed bearded man lamented, his voice heavy with the weight of sorrow.
The pub room, bustling with thirty occupied tables, which should normally bustle with laughter and small talk, was now shrouded in an eerie silence.
Each patron sat with bowed heads, the atmosphere heavy with foreboding as they braced themselves for the impending doom looming on the horizon.
"I understand that everyone is feeling down after experiencing the recent unexpected misfortune, but I can assure you that the city of Skypolis will not fall, and the clan will protect us like it has done so for decades," The man clad in silver armor said, but before he continues further, he was stopped.
"Captain Zrmrius, I understand you are trying to push our morale, but we mercenaries are mourning the loss of our lost members."
"So it is best if you leave us alone, or I will surely lose my temper." A man with blazing red hair and a scar running across his face said, his dense mana pressure permeating through the room laced with thick killing intent.
Amidst the crowd of tables and small chatter, Alex sat before Halagax, the assassin, with his cold eyes silently staring at him, who just ignored him as he ate his steak.
"What was your mission in the dungeon?" Alex questioned, but he was met with silence.
"I know it was not your plan, and you just took an opportunity that best benefited you, but now that you have made your ten million individual points, I would appreciate it if you tell me the whole story of what you did for Klaed," Alex said, keeping his calm even though half of the Sixth day was already gone and he had made no progress.
"I appreciate your sportsmanship and understanding, not holding my actions against me," Halagax said with a calm smile, like he had expected such a response, knowing as much as his action cost his team, they were justified as the second stage was never about teamwork.
"As you could have guessed, the whole quest of looking for the weapon Core was just a goose chase, and I did what I did to make sure that you would leave me in the dungeon, but even if you did free me, Klaed had a plan to make sure I stay in the dungeon,"
"After you lot left and the battle against the beasts was at its peak, Klaed tried to infiltrate the dungeon, making the Seraphian Elder keeping watch over the dungeon come for him,"
"At that moment, I left my cell, went to the fifth floor, and using the key given to me by Klaed, I entered the hidden floor of the dungeon, but not before changing my form to that of a woman,"
"The woman was the wife of the prisoner I was tasked to free, named the Yarikhas Rafeon, and after we left the dungeon with the aid of the people working for Klaed,"
"I convinced the Yarikhas to give the location of the dark core he acquired from killing the Undead King that arrived three decades ago and almost killed the patriarch of the Seraphian clan,"
"It took some time, but the dead and broken man could not say no after he was made to believe that he was talking to his beloved daughter, whopromised revenge and all that he could want to hear after three decades of torture,"
"Everything went smoothly, and I acquired the dark core, and following that, my last task was to make sure I don\'t meet you the following fifteen hours," Halagax said, and Alex couldn\'t help but raise an eyebrow.
\'I am n\'t certain, yet a dark core which was acquired from the undead King that sounds very familiar to the core imbedded in the mythical artifact, the Crown of the Lich Monarch,\'
\'The same crown that would be worn by the fallen Seraphian who will arrive on the seventh day plus would become the reason for the destruction of the city of Skypolis even though it is one of the few cities that houses an Elemental Ruler,\' Alex thought, as he connected the dots.
Alex had a small flashback as he remembered the last battle of the city of Skypolis, which is one of the majority popular videos on the internet as it was the first time a player saw two Elemental Rulers moving all out plus doing so in the open space.
