Chapter 164: 163. Disapproval
Although Reina's mood was improving, Alice's was doing anything but that.
Alice was so shocked at the sight, she let out an audible gasp and exclaimed with a bright red face, "Lucius, what's the deal? Why are you still hanging out with this woman even after getting into Sanctuary? She is a bad influence! Lucius, I know you. You are a good person; you shouldn't be hanging out with this bad woman!"
Alice still remembered the horrible things that Reina had done as the leader of a bandit group and the suffering inflicted on her victims.
Lucius still knew about all those things, but he had actively decided to forget about them. Reina's potential, abilities, and even her ability to earn him love points were enough for him to ignore all her past actions and sweep them under the rug.
This was the fundamental difference in the ethics and views of the two people.
One was the future Saintess of Light, destined to save people all over the continent.
The other was a vicious and villainous opportunist that would do anything for his own benefit.
Unfortunately for the Church of Light, Alice couldn't see through Lucius's true personality and was still deceived by Lucius's shameless acting.
Lucius, however, still hadn't determined the reason for Alice's anger and could only look towards Camilla for help, but this time Camilla didn't do much and just shrugged at him, leaving Lucius stunned.
Although Camilla didn't say anything, Lucius had already annoyed Camilla by bringing along Alice. Now that he brought Reina along, he actually wanted help from one of his women to help calm down another two that were fighting.
Thinking about it from that direction, it was indeed a little shameless.
Besides Lucius, Camilla showed what could only be described as strong displeasure for Reina and her roughness.
In her mind, she shows absolutely no respect for Lucius despite knowing his highly important and dignified role as the leader of the revolutionary army, not to mention she was the vixen that had even taken Lucius's first time.
In Camilla's mind, what Reina needed wasn't help; it was the death penalty!
Knowing that even the trusty Camilla wouldn't help him out this time, Lucius turned back towards Alice but was soon quickly met with a barrage of words.
"Lucius, I've also been hearing rumors that you're actually affiliated with some group of thugs and gangsters in the outer city. At first, I didn't believe it, but now I know it is the influence of this woman on you! Lucius, it's because I know that you're a good person that you shouldn't be going down this path!"
As Reina heard the words coming out of Alice's mouth, she almost slipped and fell over!
Reina was a vicious bandit, she would be the first to admit that, but Lucius? A good person?!
What was she missing here?!
Even if you were planning on lying to people, shouldn't you at least try to make it believable?
This so-called "good person" was out here torturing people from sundown till daybreak.
Although they may have been after his life, a truly good person would have swiftly sent them to the afterlife to end their misery.
Lucius's subsequent actions truly opened her eyes to what it meant to be a truly ruthless person.
His torture was so terrifying that even her vicious heart couldn't handle it, and her legs went queasy.
Even if you beat her to death, she would never admit that someone as ruthless as Lucius was a good person!
Lucius could only try and helplessly explain himself. He tried to reassure Alice that he was still a good person and was only dealing with Reina and involved in the messy gangs of the outer city because his circumstances needed it. He even tried convincing Alice that Reina wasn't a bad person.
But Lucius seemed to underestimate Alice; she was naive, not stupid.
You could trick her on a few things, but to paint someone obviously bad as secretly good was like trying to tell someone the color white was actually black. As long as you had eyes, you could easily see through such ridiculous levels of gaslighting.
Alice saw Lucius's reaction and his feeble attempt to defend Reina and was genuinely puzzled.
In her mind, Lucius was a noble hero, someone that everyone should aspire to be like.
What about the possibility that Lucius was just a bad person?
What a joke! Alice would never believe the slander that people were spreading about her good friend!
In her mind, how could someone who would risk his life for strangers be a bad person?
What about the time he got into a fight for his classmate and didn't hesitate to fight a senior for her? In addition, didn't he dare to fight against the descendants of the heroic families just yesterday to stop some bullying he saw?
If someone as noble as Lucius was considered a bad person, then society would not be far from being destroyed.
Lucius could never be a problem; then the blame would have to fall on the people around him.
When she looked at Reina once again, it was as if she was struck by a lightning bolt.
'Yes, that's it!' thought Alice in a moment of realization.
Now everything was beginning to add up!
Although Alice didn't want to admit it, the woman Reina was quite beautiful.
In addition to that, she had a well-developed body and a sort of mature charm that even the other girls her age in the academy couldn't provide.
Her mother had warned her to be careful around good boys her age because no matter how good things were going, they could always be seduced.
When she first heard this, Alice had no clue what her mother was talking about. Now she only wanted to thank her mother for instilling such wisdom into her early on.
The reason for Lucius's behavior was not because he was a bad person, no, it was because he was being seduced by this bad old woman!
