Chapter 39 39. Landon
All races on the continent were faintly suppressed by the power of inanity and humans showed obvious signs of becoming the number one hegemony on the continent.
But without the binding force of external threats, the once tight alliance had started to fracture as everyone competed for their own personal interests
Now humanity was showing faint signs of dividing into two sides:
The Empire and its secular power vs. the church and the religious theocracy.
With such a conflict on the horizon, a talent that could compete with the heroic talents of the noble faction was only a five to be feared.
But looking at the current naive Landon that was smiling and talking with commoners as well as some low ranking nobles that hadn't even caught onto the situation, Lucius couldn't help but shake his head.
Since, in terms of the timeline, the novel had just started Landon naturally lacked some personal character development so he should still be in his happy go lucky phase. So with this kind of mentality, Landon was completely clueless as to the schemes floating around him and is still walking around happily.
Suddenly Landon seemed to feel something and briefly turned in Lucius's direction
All of a sudden a pair of ice blue eyes met with a set of burning crimson pupils.
Faced with the sudden gaze of the protagonist, Lucius was only briefly stunned before he calmly returned a polar smile and Landon even nodded in return.
There was no grievance between the two so it was natural for them to maintain some polite and cordial impressions.
If only Landon knew that the man he just met was breaking his back trying to figure out how to steal all his women….
Naturally, if such a thing got out Lucius could never have a good time, but unless his brain was fried Lucius would never say such a damning thing.
Not just Landon, I'm afraid any man would look at Lucius unfavourably if they realised his main purpose in their life was to steal away somebody else's woman!
As Lucius was having these strange thoughts, Landon too was having some thoughts of his own.
'What a strange guy…' Thought Landon
He wasn't surprised by the attention he was getting from the strange man. After all, ever since he awakened his [Saint of Light] talent, people had been watching him wherever he went. The only strange thing was that instead of the awe, envy and jealousy he had seen all day, this guy had looked at him with a strange expression.
It was almost like…. Pity?
Landon found the entire event to be rather strange.
'He's clearly not strong, but I somehow get a strange inexplicable aura from him.'
Landon's confusion only lasted for a while before it quickly turned to excitement
'It's just like the old man said! The Sanctuary is filled with all sorts of people and monsters! I really can't let my guard down in this place!'
Thinking like this, Landon walked down the corridor even more excited than before.
Now he was eager to walk around and explore Sanctuary even more. He couldn't wonder what other strong fighters and mages he would meet doing the way!
After all, back in his village, he was already the strongest.
Be it the chief guards or even those wild man-eating monsters that everyone seemed to fear, they were simply no match for him.
At first, it was kind of fun.
Being the number one strong man in the village was quite satisfying and people were kind to him wherever he went, but not long after it soon became extremely boring.
The small village was all the same every day and he couldn't even properly test out his training because there was nobody else he could fight.
His decision to leave was definitely the correct one!
Only in the big capital would he be able to meet other strong people and find all sorts of adventures.
….
A lot of time passed since the buzz of the assessment, and Lucius had long since settled down.
Now Lucius found himself in front of a fashionable white hardwood door.
Lucius walked into the room and couldn't hide his amazement.
He looked at the ID card gagging on his neck and just chuckled
Hero Class 1-17 Lucius
It seemed like the name Hero Class wasn't just for show.
The Hero Class was the highest ranked in the entirety of The Sanctuary
It was a place reserved for only geniuses with purple and golden rank talents. These guys were destined to become the leaders for the generation so long as they trained Hard.
The resources and help they could get from Sanctuary would be higher than others. Naturally, such treatment would leak into their living conditions.
His place was quite luxurious.
As he had said before, although the world was quite backward in some ways, for example those distant villages were still living in conditions not too different from the Middle Ages, Nobles, especially those from the capital would be an exception to such rules.
The quality of life and magic engineering led them to live a life of comfort not to be behind those from Lucius's modern day.
With advanced magical engineering and design, Sanctuary can offer its best students top quality facilities
The room Lucius was in right now and we had a comparable room in a modern day five star hotel.
Although the room wasn't too large, it was of exceptional quality.
A soft comfortable bed made with excellent fabrics and an elegant designed room that made one feel comfortable just by being inside it.

Thinking like this Lucius couldn't help but lay down on the bed and was pleased to feel the soft cushiony against his body.
"What a day…" sighed Lucius
