Chapter 365 - 365 Bidding
Starfire Shop was seeing a surge in crowd, attracting more and more players. Kagura, who was keeping a close eye on the activity from across the road, was green with envy.
However, he knew that all of this was just like adding fuel to the fire, and that once all the equipment sold out and Starfire Shop could not restock, no matter how high the shop was currently held, it would fall just as hard.
“Humph, why don’t you continue supplying epic-quality silver equipment? I don’t believe the Silver Moon Commerce would strongly support you like this!” Kagura spoke through gritted teeth.
This time, because the Silver Moon Commerce was invading the Sunfire Commerce territory, the help given by the Sunfire Commerce was substantial. They had early on formed a consensus that they could not let Silver Moon Commerce step a foot in Zone B under any circumstance.
However, within the Silver Moon Commerce, there was considerable controversy over Annie’s management and her actions weren’t supported all that much. The main support relied solely on Annie’s personal influence and connections.
This was also the reason why the sales in Starfire Shop had been zero for more than a week. The senior executives of the Silver Moon Commerce were generally ambivalent about their operation, adopting a win-or-lose, it- doesn’t-matter attitude.
Within half a day, most of the other equipment in the shop were sold out. Even if their prices inflated by 30%, these players were still fervently grabbing at mainstream green and blue equipment with good attributes.
Almost everyone’s gaze was now fixated upon the silver-quality Frost Shield;
“A hundred thousand! That’s crazy! I can buy a gold-grade equipment with that amount of money!” Someone murmured.
“Exactly. Fifty thousand, the Blizzard Alliance is willing to offer fifty thousand Doomsday Coins for this shield. So, what do you say? Will it sell or not?”
“You want to buy this epic shield with fifty thousand? Hehe, the Firefox Alliance offers sixty thousand Doomsday Coins!”
The leaders of many alliances in the City of Hymns rushed to Starfire Shop after hearing about the shield. Each leaving them drooling after seeing the attributes of the shield. But the cost of one hundred thousand Doomsday Coins was just too much. To spend that much on this one shield could affect the development of their alliances, leaving them bankrupt.
The price of the shield finally stopped rising after it reached between sixty and sixty-five thousand. But Vera didn’t budge. She pulled out an abacus and began to calculate today’s sales;
“Five thousand three, plus two thousand eight, plus four thousand one…” Vera was calculating the price of the sold items, and was surprised to find that in just half a day, the sales had reached close to one hundred thousand. If this silver- quality epic shield sold, then it would be two hundred thousand in total revenue achieved. This meant that one-fifth of the task would already be completed, all within half a day!
Thinking about this, a satisfied smile surfaced on Vera’s face.
Just as players were discussing and hoping for Starfire Shop to lower the price, a rush of hooves was suddenly heard outside the shop. At this moment, a middle-aged man, dressed as a butler, jumped down from a horse and hurried into the Starfire Shop. Upon seeing the shield displayed, he let out a sigh of relief;
“Hey, it’s Butler Henry from the Violet Family, what is he doing here? Could it be that these NPCs also heard about the top-quality silver shield?” The onlookers were taken aback upon seeing Butler Henry.
“The Violet Family, who told them? They’re picking a fight with all the players!”
“Damn it, with the NPCs stepping in, we can’t get this shield. Why do good items always end up being snatched by them? It’s so infuriating!”
“There’s no way around it; they’re rich and powerful. They’re more extravagant than we are, pity such an epic shield!”
Seeing Henry walk in, almost all of players’ looks became grim.
In the City of Hymns, this was not the first time, and certainly would not be the last, that NPCs outbid players. Compared to NPCs, who had been in the game for decades or even hundreds of years, the players who had just begun exploring the game were unable to compete in terms of financial or actual strength. Once a desirable item appeared, there was hardly any chance of it ending up in a player’s pocket if these NPCs set their eyes on it.
“Is the steward here? Steward?” Henry strode in and called out. Vera lifted her head to look at Henry and quickly moved forward to curtsy, “Oh, isn’t this Lord Henry from the Violet Family? What brings you to our humble shop?”
“Gosh, because of this epic shield! When my young master heard that there was an epic silver shield for sale here, he immediately instructed me to rush over and buy it at all costs. As you know, my young master will be coming of age in a few months. He’s been chosen as the reserve knight by the Dawn Church, but he’s lacking a suitable shield!”
“Oh, is that so? If we had known, we would have sent the shield to your residence first for your young master to examine. We apologize for the oversight. However, as this item belongs to a consignor and is not the Silver Moon Commerce’s own property, we cannot provide any discounts. What should we…” Vera said, with a troubled expression.
“What discount? Just being able to buy it is good enough! Hurry up and wrap it up for me, so I can take it back!”
Henry pulled out several gold tickets from his robe, handed them over, and said, “Here are gold tickets worth a hundred thousand Doomsday Coins, count them.”
Vera was about to accept the tickets with a smile, but suddenly felt a slap aimed at her wrist. She retracted her hand reflexively and raised her eyebrows in anger.
“Ahem, the one who offers the highest price gets the item. Henry, are you trying to break the rules?” An old man, who appeared to be in his sixties or seventies, walked into the shop slowly, leaning on a cane;
“Tulip Viscount, Butler Henry of the Violet Family sends you his greetings and wishes you good health and longevity!” Upon seeing the old man, Henry’s face darkened. But he still respectfully bowed towards the old man;
“Fine, Henry. This shield, the Tulip family would like to have it. I’m willing to pay one hundred and ten thousand Doomsday Coins! I believe that Silver Moon Commerce would not reject a higher price, am I right?” The random gaze aimed towards Henry clashed with his eyes for a moment. Viscount Tulip turned to Vera with an edge of arrogance on his face and continued;
“This is really putting me in a difficult position…” Vera showed a troubled expression and looked at Henry.
Feeling shocked internally, Vera originally marked this shield with a price that was almost impossible to sell, aiming to attract more people’s attention, but unexpectedly, she seemed to have underestimated the potential price of this shield.
“Apologies, Tulip Viscount, but our young master has said that he must have this shield!” Henry, stark white and trembling slightly under Viscount’s gaze, replied hesitantly, “I’m willing to pay one hundred and twenty thousand Doomsday Coins to purchase this shield!”
Wow~
The onlooking players gasped. This price was far beyond that of a silver quality shield!
