Chapter 244 - 244 Map Copy
“Don’t trust her, she’s lying to you!” Panic flashed in Canaan’s eyes as he roared loudly.
“Little dwarf, if you keep talking nonsense, I’ll turn your green skin red.” Jierna threatened Canaan with a menacing expression.
Canaan immediately shrank back, looking wronged as he hid in the corner near the wall.
Song Jian glanced at Jierna, seeing that she still had some tricks up her sleeve. It was unclear who would win if they continued to fight. Song Jian’s task was not to kill Jierna but to safely escort Canaan to the Kantelu Ruins.
“Alright, let’s cooperate. My only goal is to bring this little dwarf to Kantelu Ruins and see if there’s any advantage to be had. Continuing to fight would be pointless!” Song Jian shrugged, speaking in a relaxed tone.
Jierna hoisted the battle-axe onto her shoulders with her right hand. Hearing Song Jian’s words, she revealed a satisfied smile and slowly pulled her left hand out of her waist pocket.
“Haha, wise choice.” Jierna walked up and kicked the Red-tailed Beasts twice before muttering, “Get up, useless creatures.”
The Black Dragon cub’s golden eyes were still fixed on the Red-tailed Beasts, as if ready to pounce and devour them at any moment. Even reprimanded by Jierna, the Red-tailed Beasts didn’t dare to move under the pressure of Dragon Might, lying on the ground with exposed bellies and wailing pitifully.
“Hey, can you put your pet away? These two won’t even dare to walk otherwise.” Jierna looked at the Black Dragon cub, a hint of envy flashing in her eyes.
“A Dragon cub… I never thought that this human could actually tame a Dragon cub as a pet…” Jierna pondered, her eyes darting back and forth. “If the Dragon Clan finds out that someone has tamed a Dragon cub as a pet, this human in front of me will be in big trouble. Should I secretly inform the Dragon Clan?”
Song Jian raised his hand, and a summoning circle appeared beneath the Black Dragon cub, quickly absorbing it into the Pet Space.
Since the Black Dragon cub had been hunting monsters near the mansion earlier, Song Jian needed to first retrieve it into the Pet Space and then summon it from there. Now, to dismiss the cub, he could only send it back to the Pet Space and not relocate it near the mansion.
“Alright, little dwarf, bring out the map of your exploration. Let me see how much ground you’ve covered,” Jierna menacingly said as she grabbed Canaan, who was cowering in the corner.
Canaan resentfully glanced at Song Jian and handed over the sheepskin scroll.
“Hmm, not bad. You’ve already explored such a large area. This will save me a lot of time!” Jierna scanned the scroll, her eyes lighting up, and she nodded with satisfaction.
Jierna had only explored about a third of the area, also depicted on a sheepskin scroll. She combined the two scrolls with a flash of white light, merging them into one. Immediately, the terrain of more than half of the Kantelu Maze was revealed to everyone present.
“A magic map?” Canaan’s eyes filled with envy. He murmured, “A magic map can automatically record any place and path one has been to. It’s like a divine artifact for explorers…”
“Aren’t you a great merchant of the Goblin Clan? Don’t you have one of these?” Song Jian turned to Canaan and asked. He also coveted the magic map.
Compared to the Zombie City map given when starting the game, this was much more advanced.
“No!” Canaan’s face darkened, thinking of something unpleasant.
“Jierna, are you selling this map?” Song Jian asked.
“What do you think?” Jierna rolled her eyes, snorted coldly, and walked ahead with an arrogant air.
Song Jian shrugged, not paying it any mind as he followed behind Jierna.
Jierna entered the ruins from a different entrance, covering a different area from Song Jian’s party. This meant that only one-sixth of the area remained unexplored, which must be where the Kantelu Ruins were located.
Jierna ordered two Red-tailed Beasts to scout ahead. Their tough shells acted like steel armor, making it difficult for conventional traps to harm them. Whenever they encountered monsters, Jierna charged in without waiting for Song Jian, single-handedly slaughtering all the opponents.
“Too weak! These monsters are seriously weak! None of them can put up a fight!” Jierna pulled her battle-axe from the skull of a level 20 ordinary monster and glanced at Song Jian as she loudly declared.
Song Jian could also kill a level 20 ordinary monster, but he wouldn’t look as relaxed as Jierna. Seeing her provocative gaze, Song Jian pursed his lips and looked away.
Seeing Song Jian look away, Jierna smirked and snorted proudly.
The magical map was amazing – without the need for continuous drawing, it accurately recorded the paths they had traversed. In less than three hours, the three of them managed to explore the remaining area of the maze and found the entrance to the Kantelu Ruins.
Now, the trio stood at the end of a passage, facing a faintly gray, misty light-gate. On either side of the gate were stone carvings of two dragons dressed in heavy armor, howling at the sky – not images of the Kantulu Clan.
“This is the place!” Canaan’s eyes lit up with joy, and he heaved a sigh of relief.
“Hmph, you’re just lucky to have found a powerful guard. Otherwise, you’d never have made it here,” Jierna coldly snorted.
Canaan chuckled, looking slightly ingratiating: “Should 1 go in first and check if there’s any danger?”
“Since when did the Goblin Clan become so brave?” Jierna mocked with a sneer, and gave Canaan a kick on the butt: “Go on, scout ahead.”
The moment Canaan’s figure entered the light-gate, Song Jian received a system prompt that he had completed the protection task.
“The whole Goblin Clan is full of troublemakers – stingy, calculating sorts. Even if you’re on guard, you can’t help but be taken in by them!” Jierna couldn’t help but exclaim while looking at Song Jian.
Song Jian nodded and said, “Yeah, he tricked me from the start. He said 1 could take anything from his bag as a reward, but turns out he had multiple storage items, and the bag was full of junk!”
Jierna couldn’t help but laugh, clearly delighted by Song Jian’s misfortune.
Jierna took out the magic map and peeled off a layer.
With a swish-
A thin sheet of parchment was lifted off the surface of the magic map and handed to Song Jian.
“This is a replica of the Kantelu Maze. I’m giving it to you! I see quite a few notes from the Goblin Clan on it, presumably they’ll be useful to you,” Jierna said.
This was another feature of the magical map – the ability to replicate any map. Jierna was now giving Song Jian a map of the Kantelu Maze. As long as the maze didn’t move within the next month, Song Jian could enter it repeatedly.
Song Jian’s eyes lit up and, gratefully accepting the map, he said, “Thank you, Jierna.”
