Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Black Community
If something serious were indeed provoked, let alone Nisen, even he, the Chief Tax Officer, might not be able to withstand it.
The Omaha Family had far too deep roots in Las Vegas.
If they could be taken down so easily, then their National Tax Bureau Lakeside District Sub-Bureau Branch would have acted long ago!
Chastised like this, Nisen\'s face alternated between shades of green and purple.
According to the partner system of the National Tax Bureau.
Although this tax affair of Three Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand US dollars could be accounted as half his achievement.
But from Lewis\'s expression just now, it was clear he knew that the main credit for this tax evasion case rested on David\'s shoulders.
Fearing that his own merit wouldn\'t be enough for promotion, he had bitten the bullet and volunteered to investigate Dieter\'s case, only to be so unmercifully rejected.
"Chief Tax Officer Lewis... "
"Enough, don\'t say more!"
Nisen still felt unwilling, but before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Lewis, who then looked at David, saying, "David, you handled this case so cleanly and decisively. I presume the case of the Black Zero Purchase Participant won\'t be too much for you all, right?"
"Piece of cake."
David understood the meaning behind Lewis\'s words. He wanted him to keep an eye on Nisen, ensuring he didn\'t cause any trouble, while investigating this current case as per the previous assignment.
"Good, then go on!"
...
"Shit, we just received such a huge sum of tax money, and not only does this Lewis barely praise us, but he also won\'t let us get involved with Dieter\'s case!"
On the way back, Nisen, who was driving the car, was seething, occasionally pressing down hard on the accelerator, venting his frustration.
"Don\'t think too much about it. I\'ve heard that the Sub-Bureau Branch is preparing to form a special task force to investigate Dieter\'s case. It\'s normal that they don\'t want us involved!"
David could understand Lewis, to be honest.
To tell the truth, if he were in Lewis\'s shoes, he wouldn\'t allow these two to meddle in that case either.
After all, they were about to be transferred.
If, at this crucial moment, their career paths were affected because of the Omaha Family affair, it would be a loss not worth taking.
Moreover, speaking of which.
It\'s true that the National Tax Bureau wielded significant power, but that was only as an institution itself. They were merely the most basic inspectors within this institution.
When facing the likes of Anthony, these robbers, or other ordinary people, they naturally exuded authority.
However, when really up against a family like the Omaha Family, they were still somewhat lacking.
But different from Nisen, David wasn\'t disheartened.
He had the \'golden finger\' on his side, and no matter whom he wanted to investigate or whatever case it was, who could escape him?
What he needed to do now was to brush up on some \'experience points\' first.
Once his abilities were fully recognized by Lewis and the leaders of the Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch, even if he didn\'t take on Dieter\'s case, he believed those leaders would end up begging him to do it!
"Sigh…"
Nisen sighed helplessly, lightly pressing the gas pedal to slow down the car until it came to a complete stop at the side of the road, and said, "Let\'s leave it at that for now, David. See you tomorrow!"
David glanced outside, and without realizing it, they had arrived at the base of his building. He nodded and got out of the car.
The next morning.
As instructed, the two arrived at 236 Richard Avenue.
This is a rather large Black community in the Lake District of Las Vegas, with tens of thousands of Black residents.
Upon stepping through the entrance, a foul stench hit their noses, causing both David and Nisen to feel extremely uncomfortable.
Glancing around, they noticed that the community was incredibly dirty, disordered, and shabby to the extreme.
Trash littered the ground; flies buzzed around; many dilapidated buildings looked ready to collapse; walls were covered in graffiti; roads were pitted and uneven, with puddles and sludge everywhere.
"Oh shit, these damned Blacks, not taking care of their own community, are nothing but parasites!"
Nisen couldn\'t help but curse aloud at the environment.
Although David didn\'t say anything, his impression of these Black people fell another notch.
Actually, sometimes you can\'t blame everyone for being so prejudiced against Black people; there are obvious reasons.
Of course, it\'s not to say that all Black people are societal parasites.
Take, for instance, the former President of the United States, Obama, as well as figures like Jordan and Kobe Michael Jackson; they represent the elites among the Black community.
However, they make up a very small part of the Black community overall.
As for the majority of Black people... well, those who understand, understand!
Putting his thoughts aside, David took out a document from his pocket and after carefully reviewing it for two minutes, he finally found a direction, and both men started walking.
As they ventured deeper,
the traces of Black people gradually became more numerous.
Some were playing basketball, some were smoking marijuana, and others were gathered together, talking about who knows what.
But when they saw David and Nisen, they couldn\'t help but stop what they were doing and observed the two with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.
"Asian monkey, what are you doing in our community?"
After staring for a while, a thuggish Black youth spoke up provocatively.
It might have been due to racial suppression.
Despite being on his home turf, he still didn\'t dare to act rashly towards Nisen, who was White, and instead chose David, who looked easier to bully, for his provocation.

After checking the information that appeared above this guy\'s head, David, who should\'ve been angry, revealed a slight smile.
According to the information they had received, they were supposed to be looking for someone called \'Osborne\' today, who was said to be the ringleader of a Zero Purchase scheme.
But unexpectedly, this young fellow in front of them was also a participant in Zero Purchase.
This was somewhat of an unexpected gain!
Since that was the case, there was no need for pleasantries!
David put away his smile, stepped forward toward Sidorf, and soon came face to face with him, asking amiably, "What did you just call me?"
Such a stance stunned the initially cocky Sidorf.
Generally speaking, this is a Black community, filled with their own people, and the person confronting him was Asian, not likely to dare cause trouble.
Yet not only did David seem intent on causing trouble, but he also dared to confront him face to face. This wasn\'t something the average person would dare to do.
