Chapter 250: Moment of Grave Danger
Chapter 250: Moment of Grave Danger
“Hey... don’t freak out, don’t freak out! Well, at current speed of free fall, this guy would need about seven to eight minutes before he hits the ground and turns into a pancake. In other words, I have to come up with a plan before that happens.”
Myna gripped tightly onto the corner of Grimm’s shirt as strong gusts of wind battered its feathers. A pair of eyes were darting around to look for any ideas.
After a few silent minutes...
“Argh! It’s impossible to come up with anything. Lord Myna wasn’t born to mull over situations like this! Do I really have no other choice than to let him turn into pancake and then allow his Soul-Fire Prime to reside in my body?
Myna kneaded his head with his wings, swaying it left to right as if frustrated with the small volume of brain he was born with.
The key issue was that in this form of free fall, opening Grimm’s Crystal Ball was impossible for Myna.
‘Whoosh!’
Suddenly, three mechanical objects flew over, each was about two meters tall and humanoid shaped. They were composed of an unidentifiable metal—similar to human skin.
These were apparently three worker ant-level Mechanical Marionettes.
Its obvious that the Principal Void Fortress detected some unidentified living beings over here. Unable to establish communication, they still had the Magical Wave, so they sent these three Mechanical Marionettes to investigate the situation instead.
Just after experiencing the Shadow Calamity, the Void Fortress was extremely wary towards any anomalies in its surroundings.
“Caw? Mechanical Marionettes? There’s a way now!”
After Myna’s cry of joy, he warped into a shadow before flying to the front of the Mechanical Marionettes’ eyes in a flash. He dodged three energy beams with ease as he started yelling towards the marionettes’ Elemental Eyes.
“To the guys in command, this sorcerer over here is a Demon-Hunter Sorcerer entrusted with a mission by the Great Tomb Segja. He is currently unconscious and needs immediate medical attention.”
The Mechanical Marionettes halted their consecutive barrage and the Elemental Eye started pulsating randomly as if awaiting further orders by high command.
On the other side, Grimm was already countless meters down as he continued his free fall.
After a full half minute, one of the marionettes said with a robotic voice in short bursts, “The fortress–has–ordered–the–deployment–of–professional–medical sorcerers–please–be patient–and–hold on.”
After finishing the sentence, these three Mechanical Marionettes flew back in the direction of the Void Fortress.
Myna’s eyes widened in disbelief, staring into the sky for a brief moment before reacting in a fit of anger and frustration.
“Hold on? Hold on my ass, this guy’s gonna get pancaked in the next moment! I should’ve tried finding a soul slave for help instead, damn it! Has the fortress high command of the Sorcerer World gone batshit crazy?”
But complaints were merely complaints In the next moment, Myna used Grimm’s infinite coordinates to link up with him, flying to his side.
Grimm’s condition before his eyes shocked Myna.
“It’s over, over, over... This guy’s dead for sure.”
Myna was panicking like ants on a hot brick. Grimm’s free fall was quickly coming to an end. After the Great Cataclysm, hot lava was flowing across the ground’s surface, spitting white hot flames into the air.
“Sigh, I can’t think of anything else at the moment, so I might as well do something meaningful. Hmm, I wonder how this guy is gonna meet his end? Will he be roasted by the heat wave of the flames, or will he die from the impact then be roasted into ashes? Or will he be reduced to ashes after collapsing onto the ground after his Cell Life Force diminishes? Caw, caw, go to hell
Little Myna, I, Lord Myna has finally... Hmm?”
The sinister smirk on this slightly demented Myna came to a froze as he looked over to the skies above him.
Buzz...
A mechanical bee swooped in at Mach speed like a phantom, with its sound wave casting a trail of air waves behind it while heading directly for Grimm.
“Ugh...for God’s sake! Do you really have to wait till the last minute? The little sorcerers of today really like to play exciting games huh? Fiddle with my heartbeats? I curse you little brats. You’re all just a hive of tiny bats.”
Myna cursed without end.
The Mechanical Bee rushed over in a flash to a few meters away from Grimm’s side, maintaining the same rate of free fall. The door opened, revealing a Demon-Hunter Sorcerer standing behind it.
This Demon-Hunter Sorcerer wore a top hat and was loosely clad in a green sorcerers’ robe. He had a face wrinkled like a tree’s bark, looking nearly indistinguishable from other Bright Sorcerers.
The old sorcerer glimpsed at Grimm and was shocked at the sight, ‘how does one end up in this condition?’
Behind this old sorcerer stood a Medical Sorcerer who is highly experienced in Medical Treatment Sorcery. In contrast, this sorcerer was much calmer. He nodded his head and said in a low tone: “He still has a life force, his Soul Will is still present.”
“Mhm.” The old sorcerer nodded his head. He raised his Magic Staff, mustering the Force of Nature.
The Force of Nature looked like green stripes of silk ribbons, accumulated towards Grimm that was still in free fall. It eventually formed into a gentle hurricane, lifting Grimm up lightly towards the interior of the Mechanical Bee with Myna trailing in from behind.
With no time to spare, Grimm, who had only his skull and parts of his battered torso left was being stabilized inside the Mechanical Bee. The Medical Sorcerer first poured over multiple bottles of medicine repeatedly, and then scattered white-colored worms the size of a rice grain all over Grimm’s body.
“Wha–!”
Suddenly, the Medical Sorcerer called out in surprise, making Myna and the old sorcerer turn their heads. They too were shocked by the sight.
The tendrils on Grimm’s body had started consuming these medicinal worms. His torso then started forming into another shape, one that looked the soft body of some other-worldly creature.
This is the symptom of the collapse of one’s Life Code.
“What kind of Hematology Sorcery is this? Has it begun to reject its host?”
The old sorcerer muttered to himself, then started expanding his magic—creating a protective barrier around Grimm’s torso.
The Medical Sorcerer on the other side was lost in thought for a moment, then retrieved a bottle of medicine in the form of small purple beads. He locked eyes with Myna, before uttering, “My private brew of rare medicine, that would be five Sorcerer Essences.”
Myna pointed his claw at Grimm and said without blinking, ” This guy’s got nothing but Sorcerer Essences, don’t be hesitant.”
The Medical Sorcerer opened his mouth as if wanting to say something but then proceeded to carefully pour out a third of the purple beads into his hands.
With a loud puff, these beads grew into individual sprouts with arms and legs as they stuck onto the bloodied flesh of Grimm’s torse. They started rooting and growing, enveloping his body with a plant cocoon within a short amount of time.
The old sorcerer looked at the dying Grimm with furrowed brows, then looked at Myna.
“He’s merely a level-one sorcerer yet he’s still alive despite sustaining injuries of such degree, his life force is truly resilient. Oh yeah, did you guys meet strong Amonros when you were engaged in a secret mission in the Chaotic Layer? Was that how you were able to get the high command to order specialist help from us?
Myna flapped its wings and flashed the old sorcerer a look. “This is a secret mission, you’ve violated the rules by asking that question.”
“Oh...hahaha.” The old sorcerer laughed, not saying anything afterward.
The Mechanical Bee traveled at uncomparable speeds, it was just a few moments before they arrived at the Void Fortress. Consequently, they entered the hangar door at the base of the Void Fortress, traveling to its interiors.
At this moment, rows of large machines and teams of strict, highly disciplined sorcerers were all busy with their tasks, which surprised the onlooking Myna from inside the carriage of the Mechanical Bee. It seems that the void fortress of modern sorcerers had greatly evolved from that of the ancient sorcerers.
Buzz, buzz buzz.
After the Mechanical Bee touched down, a Mechanical Marionette that looked like a bed frame flew over. It had three pairs of robotic legs underneath its body, similar to that of a cockroach’s as it moved around in a life-like motion. Master Deidarion stood nearby alongside five other level-two and level-three Demon-Hunter Sorcerers, looking anxiously into the viewing port of the Mechanical Bee.
As the door of the Mechanical Bee opened, some of the high-level sorcerers sensed the atmosphere within it. Deidarion sighed in relief while the other five sorcerers shook their heads before walking away.
Grrrrrrr! The mechanical bed caught hold of Grimm, who had turned into a ball of soft mush under the plant layer. Under Deidarion’s order, it emitted a ray of red light, then flew into the distance at an unnatural speed.
All Demon Hunters and large mechanical robots in its path had no choice but to stop and give way to the mechanical bed.
