Chapter 180: 177: It's Really Too Cool!
On the third day of their migration, Bi Fang’s fever not only failed to improve, but it became even more severe, to the point where last night’s tent was pitched by Etienne alone, taking a full two hours.
Bi Fang’s face was completely devoid of color as he took the stomach bag Etienne had filled with water. Having just eaten dried meat and feeling quite thirsty, he gulped down the entire bag of water.
The temperature of the water was just right, neither hot nor cold, and quite pleasant.
Etienne was very attentive, first boiling the water with stones, then partially immersing it in the lake, using the lake water to cool it quickly, and only taking it out when he felt it was about the right temperature.
After finishing the water, Bi Fang saw Etienne did not leave but rather stared at him with puppy-dog eyes.
Bi Fang leaned against a tree and asked curiously, “What’s up?”
Etienne scratched his head and glanced at the nearby camera, somewhat embarrassed, “Do you still have any paper on your side?”
Bi Fang immediately understood, “You want to use the bathroom?”
Etienne scratched his head and gave a sheepish smile.
Well, it had been two or three days, so it was perfectly normal to have such needs.
Bi Fang looked around at the nearby woods and saw that they were all coniferous forests; if they were to be used, one would hope not to plan on sitting down on a flight for the next two or three days.
[That’s right, I don’t think I’ve ever paid attention to this issue before, but has Master Fang never taken a shit?]
[He definitely sneaks away and deals with it when we aren’t looking.]
[Speaking of which, what do you use to wipe when you’re pooping in the wild?]
[Isn’t there a lake right next to us? I think just washing off after doing your business should be fine.]
[Eh, is it really okay to discuss this kind of issue so seriously? I’m grossed out.]
After pondering for a while, Bi Fang finally told Etienne, “Use snow to wipe.”
“Ah?”
“Ah what? These are the conditions; I still need to save the paper for calculating latitudes and longitudes, I can’t let you waste it like that.”
Etienne was unconvinced, “But that paper was given by me… ”
“Actually, snow is much nicer than paper and also very clean.”
Bi Fang felt he needed to win people over with virtue and demonstrate the power of scientific knowledge. Wilderness survival: knowledge is the primary productive force.
“There are only so many sheets of paper, and we have to keep going for at least a month; this little amount won’t suffice for that purpose, so sooner or later you’ll have to get used to it. Of all the materials that can be used in the wild, snow is most suitable. Later, when we’re in a lower latitude, you won’t even need it.”
Both Etienne and the viewers in the live stream were shocked.
“Don’t be surprised, this is actually a very serious wilderness survival tip. Choosing the right material is also crucial; first, it should be soft to the touch, preferably waterproof, and secondly, try to choose something that won’t impact the environment.”
“In the wilderness, there are two things that are even better to use than toilet paper: snowballs and lichens. The former has a grainy texture and a fine quality, with a built-in rinse buff, while the latter is very thick and similar to shaggy carpet, both of which are great materials.”
“Next come stones and leaves; don’t be shocked, they really are viable options, but you have to find the right kind. Large leaves with a fuzzy underside are best. If I can find other materials, I wouldn’t choose leaves first because most leaves are too slick to clean properly.”
[Wow, I learned something new.]
[There are so many tricks to pooping in the wild?]
[Of course, otherwise what would you do if you wiped too hard, caused bleeding, and got an infection?]
[I’m just going to slowly type a question mark here…]
[Master Fang has tried them all? I won’t watch any reviews unless you’re in them!]
Seeing how seriously Bi Fang spoke, Etienne had no choice but to believe him. He nodded solemnly and headed towards the deserted snowy landscape.
“Remember to pack the snowballs tightly, and afterwards, wipe again with some dry material.”
Bi Fang called out to Etienne’s retreating figure, and for some reason, the silhouette seemed to stagger.
Ten minutes later, Etienne returned with a flushed face.
“You said it is really true!”
“Right? Why would I lie to you, snowballs are really useful.”
[My god, I can no longer look at Little Wolf King directly…]
“Alright, let’s continue our journey. Once we reach a lower latitude, maybe I’ll be able to find some herbs, and then I’ll recover much faster.”
Bi Fang wobbled onto the glider, and Etienne, having packed up the campsite, set off again.
The deer meat had dried and was wrapped in deerskin; the plane finally looked like a plane again, not like the balcony at grandma’s house during New Year.
Having gained flight experience yesterday, today he was much more skilled at takeoff, which was very smooth, and he could even adjust the altitude according to the wind speed.
“Looking at the map, we might be able to fly out of Finland tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,” Bi Fang directed from the back seat.
Elvan’s map was very detailed. The red lines indicated the places where we couldn’t stop, blue was for possible stops, and purple tags marked places where we could rest for an extended time. There were also yellow tags with many notes attached.
There was a stretch of red route coming up, indicating human settlements where we couldn’t stop.
Bi Fang glanced at the fuel gauge: “We have enough fuel for three days; the day after tomorrow, we’ll need to look for supplies left by Elvan along the way.”
The glider was custom-made by Elvan, with an especially large fuel tank. However, the primary power source for the glider was actually the wind. The propeller was mainly to enhance its takeoff speed.
After folding away the map and chatting with the viewers, Bi Fang felt sleepy again. He had been lethargic for the last two days.
“Sister, look, the birds are following the airplane!”
At a port, a little girl pointed excitedly at the glider in the sky.
The girl’s sister looked up and was also stunned to see Etienne piloting the plane. Was that a flock of geese beside it?
Were they flying together by chance?
But why were the geese migrating just now?
Out of curiosity, she took out her phone to record and zoomed in, then cried out in shock.
The glider was actually leading the geese!
And what was up with the deer head in front?
That was too cool!
The excited elder sister recorded a video until the glider disappeared, then eagerly uploaded it to the internet, adding the caption: My god, this is unbelievable, someone is actually leading a migration of geese with a glider!
Having a few thousand followers of her own, the video quickly garnered comments online.
[My god, is this real? Are the geese actually following the plane?]
[The deer head on this glider is so badass! I want a plane like that too! Even a toy version would be great.]
[I can’t believe what I’m seeing. This scene is so magical.]
[Wait a second, these two look familiar. Isn’t this the hunting video posted by Spider-Kid? My god, it’s really them! I would recognize that handsome Huaxia man anywhere!]
[OMG, I remember now! It’s that great master! The world’s number one survivalist! He’s the one with those skills!]
The elder sister grew curious and couldn’t help but inquire about the hunting video…
Meanwhile, Bi Fang and his companion were oblivious to all of this, still focused on leading the geese in their migration.
In the afternoon, Bi Fang suddenly asked Etienne to land.
Etienne was puzzled, as it wasn’t evening yet—why did they need to stop now?
But he did as Bi Fang requested and, as the plane descended, Etienne suddenly realized something was wrong. Why was steam coming off the lake?
“This isn’t an ordinary lake, it’s a hot spring!”
Bi Fang’s eyes shone; his cold was about to be cured!
