Chapter 280 Grace of Saintmage And The Resurgence Of The City of Dawn!
Chapter 280 Grace of Saintmage And The Resurgence Of The City of Dawn!
William tried to calm everyone down. He hastily walked to the fortune-telling hut. It would be foolish of him not to make use of an all-rounded Enchanter.
Clues?
Evidence?
Apologies!
They were not important to William.
To many powerful forces, pieces of evidence were not important. A strong suspicion was good enough.
Only the weak would resort to evidence.
William only needed Moses to find out the perpetrators. He would retaliate without any evidence!
Even if Moses could not identify the perpetrators, William would choose a certain target.
In short, there must be a scapegoat.
It was just a choice of selecting who it would be.
For example, whenever the Americans could not figure out the truth, they would put the blame on their most hated terrorists…
That was regardless of whether the victim confessed or not. They would have to take the blame, even if they did not commit the crimes.
A team of professionals with high-quality equipment rode on their wargs and left Emerald Grand Duchy, heading towards East Sea Metropolis.
They were all professionals and the lowest ranking professional was an Advanced warrior. There were two Grandmaster experts in the group.
All of them wearing black windbreakers, their hoods hiding their faces.
When they entered an abandoned town, the Lord of East Sea Metropolis, Bernard, slowly walked out.
He looked at the tens of professionals and said, “What’s the progress of the assignment?”
“Our methods are exactly the same as the Blood Shadow Assassins. As long as the Lord of the City of Dawn has some brains and takes care to collect the evidence, he will conclude that it was done by the Blood Shadow Assassins.”
“Good, these magical stones are yours!”
“No, no, no. You have to pay us three times. Let’s not talk about whether we will be exposed or not. From now on, we’ve stepped on the toes of Lord William.”
Bernard laughed coldly and said, “You’re just a bunch of bounty hunters, and you’re treating yourselves as mercenaries. Even if you had not stepped on the toes of Lord William, you’ll still be attacked whenever the professionals see you.”
“The deal is off. We’re all vampires. Do you think that as a neutral lord, the Human empires will treat you as their own people?”
The team leader’s voice was cold. He gently caressed the head of his warg to restrain the creature from baring its fangs. A wolf had to look meek in order to kill its enemy at the right time.
Bernard squinted. The bounty hunters were vampires like him. They knew each other’s capabilities and limits.
However, their paths were different.
The nickname of the leader was ‘Sharp Fangs’. His subordinates were powerful bounty hunters, and he controlled a large mercenary team.
Unfortunately, even if the mercenary team was large, it could not be compared to the power of the City of Dawn. Moreover, the City of Dawn was being supported by the Mercenary Guild in deploying its mercenaries in many nations.
The competitive behavior had antagonized many mercenary teams. Some small and barely surviving mercenary teams had been disbanded.
lerce
The unemployed mercenaries had to find degrading jobs in desperation.
Many mercenary teams decided to collaborate and fight against the City of Dawn. If the City of Dawn gained a foothold in their world, the other mercenary teams could only choose to quit or defect to the City of Dawn.
The City of Dawn was forcing them to a dead end.
Besides defecting, what could they do?
They could not compete for business and they were not as powerful as the City of Dawn.
The discreet Sharp Fangs had accepted the mission from the Lord of East Sea Metropolis, Bernard, who did not wish to give up his current power and influence.
It was not easy to give up power. The more powerful the Lord was, the harder it became for him to give up his power.
Bernard could only increase the reward, magical stones, in order for the mercenaries to shut their mouths.
Sharp Fangs gazed at the extra chests of magical stones. He kept them in his space ring without checking them. Then he rode on his warg and left…
But Bernard did not know that Sharp Fangs had gone for good.
Even the Sharp Fangs mercenary team that he secretly controlled had been abandoned.
The reason being that Sharp Fangs had got the chills after he completed the massacre mission.
It was as though his heart was in the grasp of his enemy. It was a sixth sense that many professionals had. Sharp Fangs was able to survive for so many years, only because he was cautious.
He would rather believe in his sixth sense than the facts, so he left the place of contention. He did not wish to be involved in a war with the City of Dawn.
As for why Bernard had instigated Sharp Fangs for the massacre, it was because Bernard’s spies in the Dark City had discovered a piece of information. The Blood Shadow Assassins had fought with the City of Dawn several times, but in the end, they had been defeated. Hence, the assassins had become infuriated!
Bernard knew that the Lord of the Dark City had a map of the blood essence of the Blood Dragon. He wanted to frame Ottoman as the instigator for the massacre of the mercenaries of the City of Dawn.
Bernard wanted William and Ottoman to fight so that he could reap the benefits.
But he had overestimated his plan.
Bernard was not aware that the Lord of the Dark City, Ottoman, had no intention of fighting with the City of Dawn.
It was so because his fortune-teller mentor had warned him.
William did not use the normal methods to gather clues of the massacre. Instead, he looked for Moses.
“Sharp Fangs? East Sea Metropolis?” William narrowed his eyes. After knowing the truth from Moses, he shifted his attention to the East Sea Metropolis.
“It’s him, that wily old fox. It’s unfortunate his luck is changing for the worse!”
William sniggered and said, “In the game version 3.0, Bernard would not gain the upper hand in the multi-faction vampire fight. But even though he is not very capable, he likes to create troubles. He is fond of fishing in troubled waters. Is he trying to create a war between the City of Dawn and the Dark City so that he can reap the benefits?”
“He’s naive.” William stood up and was about to leave. He intended to launch an attack on the East Sea Metropolis.
As for ‘Sharp Fangs’ and the bounty hunters, they were difficult to capture, so he would leave it to a later date.
Moses waved his hands and beckoned William to sit down and not move.
William was bewildered but he obediently sat down and asked, “What’s up?”.
Moses ignored him. He took out a magic wand and uttered an incantation that William could not understand.
William was surprised to see magic tendrils entering his body. But the information panel did not provide any prompts.
William could have become a guinea pig…
“As long as I’m not used as a sacrifice,” William consoled himself. He could not defeat Moses, so he could only endure it silently.
Moses uttered the incantations for half an hour. After which, William noticed strands of dark lines leaving his body.
He gaped in astonishment. What were those things?
But when he examined the information panel, he discovered that his luck points were increasing!
Although, it was only a single-digit increase.
Every point increase was a doubling of his luck points!
2, 3, 4, 5, 6…10.
“Gosh…”
William was overjoyed.
But then, half of the black lines that were floating in the air returned to his body.
While the other half vanished in the air.
William frowned. His Luck Point was still one. There had been no changes in the end.
Moses frowned. He looked at William in disdain and said, “You have too many bad luck curses. I intended to dispel all your bad luck. But, I only managed to dispel the curses of the ‘Sword of Hegni’. I’m unable to dispel the curses of Lady Bad Luck.”
William did not make any sound. He showed a thumbs-up gesture and said, “You’re only an enchanter but you tried to dispel Lady Bad Luck’s curses. You’re awesome.”
Moses muttered, “It’s good to have you as a guinea pig. You’re helping me to understand curses and luck. They are two aspects of magic that I can’t understand.”
“Are they magic too?” William gaped in shock.
“Yes, they are considered magic, but I’m not specialized in those areas.
“Hmm, those are two areas that I’m not familiar with.” Moses nodded firmly. He was embarrassed that he did not understand some magic.
William used his insight on Moses again.
[Moses Holyvein (Legendary)]
[Occupation: All-rounded Enchanter.]
(Level: ???]
[Endowment: ???]
(Endowment: Grace of the Saintmage, you will be able to get insights on the various kinds of magic and remember all the magic skills. Your speed of learning magical skills will be increased by 500% and the requirement for experience points is reduced by 80%.]
(Endowment: ???]
(Luck: 1]
William was able to check Moses’ luck points long ago. Moses only had one point of luck, but he did not wish to test himself. Instead, he used William as a guinea pig.
Moses was thinking of removing his own curses.
William knew that Moses had a lot of curses that limited his power, and he was about to remove them. Now Moses was starting to research ‘good luck’ and ‘bad luck’ aspects of magic.
That day, William discovered a godly endowment of Moses.
Grace of Saintmage…
“Oh my god, if this endowment is given to a player, wouldn’t he level up like a rocketship?
“The speed of training is accelerated by 500%. This means that the experience points are multiplied five times. It’s better than any pills that double one’s experience points. It’s a permanent effect without any cooling period.
“The 80% reduction in experience requirement means that the experience points requirement for magic skills is only 20%. That is the reason why Moses is a powerful enchanter at the age of twenty.” William pouted.
William had only gleaned the tip of the iceberg about the details of Moses!
The Grace of Saintmage did not increase Moses’ combat power. It just reduced his training period and difficulty.
But William could imagine that Moses had other endowments that increased his combat power.
William was sure that Moses was a reincarnation of a certain God.
Because the NPCs who reincarnated from a God would be powerful beyond measure.
There were already examples.
The Thunder God!
The Fire God!
And the God of War!
The characters who had been Gods before, had reincarnated in the fourth era.
William stood up. He brushed off the thoughts about the Gods. He was going to launch an all-out war.
It would be a war against the East Sea Metropolis.
He had to resolve it within a month!
He had to occupy the territory and hang Bernard’s head at the city gate!
He wanted to give a warning to other factions.
Nobody could stop the resurgence of the City of Dawn.
