Chapter 306 Mysterious Player
Shea smiled playfully, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "BattleGoddess isn\'t our enemy, so you don\'t need to worry about it," she reassured them.
Everyone\'s attention turned to Shea, intrigued by her cryptic response. Jane couldn\'t help but blurt out, "Huh? I thought all players were our enemies in this game."
Larissa chimed in, "Yeah, isn\'t it a PvP game for us? We have to be careful with every player we encounter."
Shea shook her head, her smile widening. "Yes. But not her," she stated in a firm tone.
Allen arched an eyebrow. "Is she the company\'s advanced AI or something?" he guessed.
"No. But she is indeed from the company," Shea replied, a hint of intrigue in her voice.
"Who?" asked Jane, her forehead creasing with curiosity.
"BattlGoddess is player zero," Shea revealed, her eyes glinting with excitement. "She was the very first beta tester of this game and, believe it or not, she\'s the daughter of the game\'s owner," she explained.
The others gasped in astonishment. "The owner\'s daughter is a gamer?" Vivian said in disbelief.
Shea nodded, a playful grin on her face. "Yes, and not just any gamer. She\'s a true gaming prodigy," Shea confirmed. "Her father is not just the owner of this gaming company, but also a pro veteran player himself. He had the brilliant idea of creating this VR game, and it\'s become a massive success. Well, this company isn\'t his only business."
"But if the owner has a daughter who is good at playing games, why doesn\'t she become the devil emperor?" asked Allen, trying to analyze the situation.
Shea chuckled, finding Allen\'s curiosity amusing. "Ah, you see, that\'s where the story gets interesting. While BattleGoddess may have exceptional gaming skills and an attitude fitting for the devil emperor role, she does have her fair share of flaws."
The others leaned in, eager to hear more about this intriguing player.
"She can be a bit reckless and arrogant at times," Shea continued. "You know, the classic spoiled princess type. She\'s used to getting her way and doesn\'t always know when to stop pushing her luck."
"Ah, so she\'s a handful," Vivian chimed in.
"She sure is," Shea agreed, nodding. "She\'s got the potential to be a formidable villain, but her attitude and impulsive nature hold her back from taking on such a crucial role."
"So, the company decided not to give her the devil emperor position?" Allen summarized.
"Yes, that\'s correct," Shea confirmed. "They didn\'t want to risk such an important position in the game being controlled by someone who might not be able to handle the responsibility."
"It makes sense," Larissa added. "Being the devil emperor comes with a lot of pressure and influence over the game."
"So, she\'s emotionally imbalanced?" assumed Larissa with a frown.
"And a bit childish," Shea added.
"She looks okay when I meet her," said Zoe in confusion.
"She might seem fine during casual encounters," Shea explained, "but it\'s when the stakes are higher and the pressure is on that her true colors tend to surface."
Allen and the others turned to Zoe, their curiosity piqued by her unexpected encounter with BattleGoddess.
"Wait, you\'ve actually met her in person? That\'s amazing!" exclaimed Vivian, her eyes wide with excitement.
"So, what was she like?" Larissa asked eagerly, leaning closer to Zoe.
"She seemed friendly enough, I guess. We exchanged a few words, but she didn\'t stick around for long," Zoe replied, recalling the brief encounter.
"Hmm... does the owner know about this? You know about this BattleGoddess participating in the event thing," Larissa pondered, her mind racing with curiosity and intrigue.
"He should have known. After all, he banned his daughter from playing Hell\'s Gate without his permission," Shea replied with a hint of certainty in her voice.
"I see…" Larissa muttered, her mind still processing the information.
"The first generation of this game\'s advanced A.I. is made based on her and the owner. But then they thought it lacked a kick, so he decided to let the players play it," Shea explained, bringing attention back to the fascinating topic.
"He surely likes to gamble," Jane chirped, adding her own perspective to the conversation.
"The owner?" Shea clarified, seeking confirmation.
"Yeah," Jane affirmed.
"Maybe," Shea replied with a nonchalant shrug, acknowledging the possibility that the owner might have a penchant for risk-taking and innovation.
"Since this BattleGoddess challenged and defeated the Doppelganger. Does that mean the owner\'s daughter wants to know about Allen?" Vivian questioned, her eyes shining with curiosity.
The group fell into a contemplative silence, pondering the implications of BattleGoddess\'s actions. Allen, in particular, couldn\'t shake the feeling that there was more to this encounter than a mere test of his abilities. He had faced countless challenges in Hell\'s Gate, and this was just another in the long line of battles he had fought. Yet, there was something different about this one, something that made his instincts stir.
"Yes. I think since he couldn\'t challenge him openly, she decided to test his ability via the Doppelganger," Shea assumed, breaking the silence with her insightful analysis.
"Is that the reason why the company invited us?" Allen finally spoke up, breaking the contemplative silence that had settled over the group. It had been almost a month since they signed the contract with the gaming company, and soon they would receive their first payment for their contributions to the game. However, instead of the usual bank transfer, they received an unexpected invitation from the company. The message stated that they were invited to a special meal at the owner\'s mansion, as a token of gratitude and a celebration of their successful collaboration.
The invitation had raised some eyebrows among the group and it confused Allen.
"Yes," Shea confirmed, nodding her head. "It\'s highly likely that the owner wants to meet you all, especially after what they saw. You know the montage and all. I think it was the reason why he let BattleGoddess fight your Doppelganger."
