Chapter 422 - Something’s Wrong
Chapter 422: Something’s Wrong
“Go to your grandfather’s study later and pick out two things you like.” Jun Wanzhi patted Chi Jiao’s hand. “We can’t let you work for nothing.”
“Jiaojiao, everything in Grandpa’s study is valuable. You have to choose carefully,” Dongfang Linlin said in a joking tone.
Chi Jiao wasn’t the kind of person to demur. She knew that if she didn’t do as Jun Wanzhi said, Jun Wanzhi and Ruan Dechun wouldn’t feel good, so she smiled brightly and nodded.
“I’ll choose carefully, then. Whenever I lack money, I can even use it to exchange for money.”
“That day probably won’t come. As long as you properly manage the company your mother left you, you can still support yourself,” Jun Wanzhi said with a smile.
Only then did Chi Jiao remember that her mother had left her an inheritance as well.
It was a skincare cosmetics company, and the profits were not bad.
Although it wasn’t a particularly large company, it wouldn’t be a problem for it to support her.
While they were talking in the living room, Gao Fengxia suddenly returned with Ruan Xiaoxiao.
Gao Fengxia didn’t expect to meet Chi Jiao, and a glint flashed across her eyes.
The moment Ruan Xiaoxiao saw Chi Jiao, her mood instantly turned gloomy.
“Dad, Mom.” Gao Fengxia stood before Jun Wanzhi and Ruan Dechun. She greeted the two elders first before turning to look at Chi Jiao. “Jiaojiao is here, too.”
Hearing Gao Fengxia calling her nickname in an intimate tone, Chi Jiao had goosebumps all over.
Recalling how Gao Fengxia’s attitude toward her the last time wasn’t that friendly, Chi Jiao smiled widely and greeted her.
There must be a reason behind this abnormality.
She wanted to see what Gao Fengxia was up to.
Ruan Xiaoxiao walked over as well. She greeted Jun Wanzhi and Ruan Dechun first before greeting Dongfang Linlin and Chi Jiao.
When her gaze landed on Chi Jiao, Ruan Xiaoxiao smiled and greeted her.
Chi Jiao nodded indifferently as a greeting.
“Dad, I’m here to give you this.” Gao Fengxia took out a few invitation cards from her bag and placed them on the coffee table in front of the sofa. “This is Xiaoxiao’s invitation to the upcoming art exhibition. This is also Xiaoxiao’s first personal art exhibition. In order to make it easier for the two of you to attend, Xiaoxiao especially gave up the chance to hold an art exhibition in Shang Jing and changed the venue to our White City.”
As she spoke, Gao Fengxia couldn’t hide the smugness and pride in her tone.
Chi Jiao glanced at Ruan Xiaoxiao and saw her stand straighter with a proud smile on her face.
Ruan Xiaoxiao looked quiet and even a little introverted, but Chi Jiao knew very well that she loved to show off and curry favor with others.
Ruan Xiaoxiao was indeed quite capable. She had some talent in Chinese art. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been admitted to Country A’s University of Fine Arts at the age of 15.
It was one of the top educational institutes in the world. It was like the students who came out of it were gilded with gold. Their futures were limitless.
Chi Jiao had also received an invitation from this University before, but it wasn’t for her to be a student. Instead, it was for her to be a professor.
Painting was just a recreational hobby for Chi Jiao. Therefore, she rejected the invitation without hesitation.
