Chapter 981: Rowena Wants To Save Julian
Chapter 981: Rowena Wants To Save Julian
"Rowena," King Draco frowned at her. "This is difficult for me to do and I\'ve spoken some things out of anger at what happened, but you must understand that I\'m doing my best to treat you. So tell me the truth, are you still seeing and hearing things?"
Rowena lifted her head and saw Julian in the corner of the room. His face was filled with grief. Julian shook his head.
"... No, Father," Rowena replied flatly.
King Draco sighed inwardly in relief. His goal of ascending to Cretea and obtaining the immortality potion was not hindered.
"Good. Then I suppose you finally come to your senses," King Draco smiled mockingly. He could tell she was lying. However, that was what he actually wanted. He didn\'t care if Rowena was crazy and seeing things, as long as she controlled herself and kept acting like she was normal.
Seeing her lie convincingly like this made him feel relieved. It was better like this, he thought to himself.
Rowena stared blankly at her father and looked down at the bruises on her wrists. The healers were rough with her when they forced her to take their medication.
"Now don\'t give me that look," King Draco frowned. "I only did what I thought was necessary for our sake."
Rowena no longer gave an answer.
King Draco shook his head and then went out to the door. "I suppose you\'ve gotten too weak after drinking only medications–I\'ll leave your favorite Lady to take care of you."
Once King Draco disappeared, Lady Liz rushed forward into the tower with tears in her eyes.
"Your Highness, Your Highness are you alright?" Lady Liz gently helped Rowena up and looked at her sadly. "I–I wish I could have helped you, but your father is–"
"You couldn\'t do anything." Rowena eyed the older woman. "I\'ve heard that before already."
An ashamed expression fell over Lady Liz\'s face and she nodded. "I\'m afraid so, Your Highness. However, at the very least, please let me treat you and help you."
Rowena glowered at Lady Liz and yet she knew that she couldn\'t blame her either. It was just the exhaustion and anger that tore through her chest that made Rowena want to lash out.
However, it was finally over now.
"Alright–" Rowena said but then collapsed in Lady Liz\'s arms.

The past few days of medication and treatment for Rowena were torture, but now that it was finally over, Rowena\'s body and mind finally succumbed to rest. It was Lady Liz who stayed constantly by Rowena\'s side throughout the rest of her recovery period.
She helped Rowena eat light meals, treated the injuries on her wrists and knees, and had to report to King Draco about how Rowena was doing.
"I\'m glad that they\'re healing quickly," Lady Liz said as she tenderly checked on Rowena\'s wrist. "When your fiance comes back, I believe they will have faded already."
"And if they hadn\'t?" Rowena asked.
Lady Liz smiled sadly. "Then I\'m afraid that your father would request us to cover them up to hide the bruises."
"Of course," Rowena said flatly.
"Your father wants to see you soon so he could check himself," Lady Liz said. "But I\'ve been doing my best to delay things and say you need more rest. Hopefully, you\'ll only see your father when this Raphael is around, alright?"
"I doubt you can keep me away from my father for that much, Lady Liz," Rowena said as she ate some of her soup. She couldn\'t handle full heavy meals yet. "However, I do appreciate it."
Lady Liz blinked back her tears. "I wish I could do more for you–but you only need to wait for a while longer, alright? Patience, my dear."
"O-of course." Rowena faked a smile.
***
After several hours together in Rowena\'s tower, a knock disrupted the time between Rowena and Lady Liz.
Rowena froze unsurely, heart pounding all of a sudden–what if it was her father?
Lady Liz noticed the fear in her face and bravely stood up. "I\'m sure it\'s just some servant to deliver your dinner, Your Highness. Allow me to check."
Rowena stayed rooted in her place until Lady Liz opened the door and then broadly smiled. "Jarvis!"
"Liz." Knight Jarvis smiled a little, but then bowed lowly to Rowena. "Forgive me for the intrusion, Your Highness. How are you doing?"
Knight Jarvis politely came to visit his fiance.
"Much better than before, Knight Jarvis." Rowena greeted him. "Definitely better than before."
"I apologize for not being able to protect you, Your Highness." The older man looked helpless and sad about what Rowena went through.
"Think nothing of it," Rowena lied. "My father only did what he thought was necessary for his daughter."
"...If that is what Your Highness says."
"Yes." Rowena smiled. "But please do not let me hold the two of you back from this fine evening. You can leave now, Lady Liz."
"Your Highness–"
"I\'ll be fine," Rowena said. "Thank you for taking care of me for the past few days, but I can survive one evening without you."
"But His Majesty ordered–"
"And he won\'t know about it. Who would tell?" Rowena raised a brow. "I\'ve lived the past two years on my own, I\'m no longer a child to be protected, Lady Liz so please leave."
Lady Liz hesitated but then curtsied. "Thank you, Your Highness. Please don\'t stay up too late, alright?"
"I won\'t." Rowena lied.
"And if you hear anything, see anything–"
"That won\'t be an issue, Lady Liz," Rowena said and gestured to her table. "My father has ever so graciously left so many tonics for me to drink, hasn\'t he?"
"Of course," Lady Liz smiled sadly but then finally left with Knight Jarvis.
Once the two finally left Rowena\'s room and she couldn\'t hear their footsteps, nor their sweet nothings being exchanged, Rowena sighed in relief.
"I apologize…" Rowena slowly said as she gazed around her room. "You\'ve told me to be patient for Raphael to return. As if he\'ll save me from this mess that I\'ve created–but he doesn\'t have to do it."
Raphael was not obligated to save Rowena, especially when she lied to him.
"What do you think you\'re doing?" Julian appeared as Rowena grabbed things from her closet. "And why are you going to the window, Rowena? Rowena? Rowenaaaa!"
"I\'m saving my friend." Rowena checked the perimeter and found no guards in sight.
"I\'m right here—"
She took a deep breath and descended down the tower.
Rowena couldn\'t wait any longer for Raphael.
The only way out was to save Julian from King Draco\'s clutches.
"I\'ll rescue you and be able to tell him the truth."
Rowena made her way to the ice cave.

Thank you so much for your kind support and understanding. I am feeling better now and will resume writing my two books because I really need to start writing my new books for WSA. I have one story planned that I really like, but I don\'t want to write it before I end Harlow\'s story. I don\'t want anyone coming at me with pitchforks. XD
If you liked The Cursed Prince, I think you will love the new one. It will deal with an arranged marriage, a centuries-old curse, a very hot beast prince, and a replacement bride who was only needed to give the prince an heir.
It will have more angst than this book, but the ones that will make you
addicted, not pull your hair in annoyance XD.
I hope to finish Harlow\'s story by early June and publish the new book right away.
By the way, the app that stole my book "The Cursed Prince" and turned it into an audiobook is called Pocket FM app. It\'s available on Google Play and Appstore. If you have free time, feel free to search The Cursed Prince there and listen to the audio version.
It has a really nice voice-over, they even fixed the grammar and made the dialogue better, etc. Don\'t forget to leave a review telling people that it\'s stolen because they turned it into an audiobook without my consent and they put some guy named Robert as the book author.
