Chapter 499 - [Bonus ] Three Dragons
"Well.. should we make plans for the trip to Myreen?" Emmelyn sat back on her chair and reached out for the wine jug. She felt overwhelmed by all the information she received earlier and wanted to calm her nerves down with wine. She raised one cup and asked Maxim, "Would you like a cup of wine?"
"Yes, please." Maxim nodded. He waited patiently until Emmelyn poured him a cup of wine and another one for herself before he took the cup and raised it to his mouth. "Thank you."
They both drank together, feeling happy. Emmelyn was happy because Queen Maude was willing to help her because she felt sympathy for Emmelyn as a mother.
Meanwhile, Maxim was happy because his mother seemed to like Emmelyn and the two women got along well just now. This was a good start, he thought.
"By the way, Max. You told your mother that we will take Aslain to Myreen... AND Renwyck?" Emmelyn asked Maxim. She lowered her cup and looked at the man seriously. "Is that true?"
Maxim nodded. "Yes. That\'s right."
"Oh... can we three fit on Aslain\'s back?" Emmelyn thought she would go together with Maxim riding Aslain to save time. However, apparently, Renwyck would join them?
Maxim chuckled and said, "No we can\'t. That\'s why he will bring Eris and Sand too. Those are Aslain\'s sons. We will get one dragon each."
"Huh? How many dragons does he have?" Emmelyn\'s mouth was agape. "Aren\'t dragons rare mythical creatures? Where do you keep the dragons in the city? Don\'t they scare people?"
Emmelyn had heard stories about dragons before, but she only encountered one when she met Maxim.
She was already in awe when she met Aslain since she knew how rare it was to see a dragon, let alone to ride one, but it seemed Renwyck had two more?
"Well, Renwyck has his own place on the mountain over there. He lives with his dragons and he raised them since when they were little. They are like his family," Maxim added, "I didn\'t know they were actually his wife\'s dragons. So, I guess, he keeps them to remember her memory."
"I understand." Emmelyn thought Renwyck and Dolores sounded very impressive.
She felt sorry for Renwyck who had to lose his wife and unborn child all at once. And seeing how he still didn\'t remarry after so long… it showed how much he still held on to his wife\'s memory and didn\'t want to fall in love again.
This made Emmelyn feel curious about Dolores. She wished she could have the opportunity to meet the witch in person.
Ah, Dolores The Firebringer must be such an amazing woman to be able to tame and have a close relationship with dragons, that even after she passed away, the dragons remained loyal to her husband.
Ahh… this reminded Emmelyn. She had to let? Mrs. Adler know that one of her witch sisters had passed away.
The old witch would be sad, but at least she would know what happened to Dolores and get her closure.
"Wait… we will get our own dragon to fly to Myreen?" Emmelyn\'s ears suddenly perked up when she realized Maxim mentioned they would travel with three dragons just now. "Is that what you were saying?"
"Yes, I did say that," Maxim replied. "Dragons are not horses. We don\'t really use them for transportation. They are prideful creatures. If the three of us ride one dragon, they will feel offended."
The king added, "Well... maybe two people can ride together for a short period of time as it was leisurely, but for a long time? No. And Myreen is quite far away from here. We will need our own dragon."
"Oh…" Emmelyn was very excited at the mention of riding her own dragon to Myreen. She only rode Aslain to go up and down Mount Tempest several weeks ago. It was an exhilarating experience.
If she could do it again, she would be very happy, especially because it could bring her faster to her destination: Myreen.
Suddenly, a thought came to Emmelyn\'s mind. She remembered Edgar that had to go through a long journey to get to Draec. If he had a dragon, he could arrive faster and Queen Elara could be revived faster too.
Wouldn\'t it be nice to have a dragon that could take him home?
"You are thinking of something?" Maxim furrowed his brows when he saw her expression.
"Well…" Emmelyn didn\'t want to be presumptuous, but she really needed to ask Maxim if it was possible for him to lend Edgar one of the dragons so he could go home more quickly?
She tried to find the right words to say, but it was so hard without sounding entitled. She owed Maxim so much already.
"Tell me, what do you have in mind?" Maxim asked Emmelyn. "Is there something you want? If it\'s within my power, I will make it happen."
"Actually yes, but... I am sorry if this sounds entitled, I don\'t mean it. I just want to see my mother-in-law wake up as soon as possible." Emmelyn bit her lip and looked at Maxim in her best puppy eyes.
She uttered her question carefully, "Will you be willing to... ask Renwyck to lend one of the dragons to Edgar? The journey home will take five months. If you can help him to arrive faster, I will be very grateful."
Maxim looked at Emmelyn with a playful glint in his eyes. Actually, he could already guess what Emmelyn was thinking after he mentioned the fact that Renwyck kept three dragons with him.
The gleam of excitement in her eyes already told Maxim what he needed to know.
"How grateful?" Maxim asked Emmelyn with a big smile on his face.
Emmelyn bit her lip and thought about his question carefully before she replied. "I will give you whatever you want."
It was only fair, she thought. She owed Maxim so much already.
