Chapter 49 Restraing Order
*************
CHAPTER 49
"Seriously now!" Wu Bai thundered and slammed the file in his hand against his work desk.
He turned around, evading the unaffected face of Lawyer Chang. "I thought I was done with you and her. How can she do this to me?"
"Do not forget that you harassed my client, Mr Wu. She is only taking precautions where necessary," Lawyer Chang explained.
"Precautions." He turned to face him again. "Look here, Lawyer Changee or whatever your name is. I do not know whatever nonsense you are feeding your client with but all I can say is that, stop brainwashing her into thinking I want to harm her."
"Whether or not you like how this is going, it is your cup of tea, Mr Wu. There is no brainwashing or cleansing. Miss Kai seeks what is best for her."
"I know what is best for her," he declared and slammed his palm against the table. "And neither you," he pointed at him, "nor anyone else out there gets to determine that."
His breathing ragged, as his nostrils, flared in rage. Regardless, the lawyer was unaffected and watched him with a smile on his face from where he sat across from him.
"Whatever you have done to her, know this. Andromeda Kai would come back to me."
His laugh was sudden and short, engaging a dimple. Lifting his gaze, Lawyer Chang smiled at Wu Bai. "You keep deceiving yourself. I do not know whether or not it is due to the fact that you think your ex was a fool or something but you should know, you are clearly mistaken."
"Excuse me?"
"Yes. You are excused for your stupidity, Mr Wu. This is a restraining order. Abide by it, else you shall face the consequences the court brings."
"Hey!" His eyes widened as he parted his lips before letting out a scoff. "What? Do you think I am a nobody? I can end your career as a Lawyer so you know," Wu Bai threatened.
"Good. I am glad you feel so. We would see what the court has to say about you threatening me."
"What?"
His eyes scanned the Lawyer seated before him as though he could find what secret was hidden there but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn\'t.
"I see you are all bluff. All bark and no bite. Tsk," he straightened up properly and was about to turn when an idea came to mind.
Without speaking, Wu Bai placed both hands on the desk by his side and leaned forward, till his face was close enough to look into Lawyer Chang\'s eyes.
His lips held a faint smile while his eyes twinkled with mischief. "It would be great to watch as you go down and get back to the street begging for a case. I would ruin you if you dare me."
"Is that so? I never knew you were this bold, Mr Wu. Yet you were stupid enough to let a gem go all for the sake of a harlot."
His veins popped out at the side of his head at the insult and he balled his hand into a fist on the desk in a threatening manner. "I dare you to say that again."
"A word said is enough for the wise, Mr Wu."
Dipping his hand into his pocket, Lawyer Chang took out something slowly to add to the suspense that was killing Wu Bai. He lifted his head to look at him.
When his gaze came back to Wu Bai\'s face, a slow smile erased the creases between his brows. "Ta-da."
He shook a small device in front of him. It was a mini recorder with blue lighting flashing on it. "You were saying, Mr Wu?"
"I…" He swallowed hard before laughing. "Good one, Lawyer Change. Looks like you are not so stupid after all."
\'What can I say? I have faced worse." His eyes remained sharp as he stared daringly at Wu Bai, watching him drop his head in defeat.
All of a sudden, Wu Bai whipped his head up and tried to snatch the recorder from Lawyer Chang. Sadly for him, the Lawyer was prepared and pulled his hand back, away from his reach.
"You really have no shame?" Lawyer Chang commented as he got to his feet, watching Wu Bai retreat and stand straight as well. "You still think I am foolish, huh?"
His smirk broadened and he dipped back the recorder into his pocket as he picked up his briefcase quickly. "One has to be careful with someone like you, Mr Wu. But here is a piece of advice."
"Really? Now I am getting schooled by the likes of you," Wu Bai chirped.
"Say what you want, Mr Wu. Just a matter of awareness. Whatever is recorded here, is dutifully backed up. Anything happens to me, and I am sorry. This tape goes viral."
"Are you threatening me? Wu Bai asked placing both hands into his trouser pocket.
"No. Just a friendly reminder. That would be all now. If you would excuse me." He took several steps backwards before he turned around. It was not until he got to the door that he turned his head to the side and smiled at Wu Bai.
"Do not forget, Mr Wu. 50 yards away from Miss Kai. We wouldn\'t want to see each other in court," he reminded.
Before Wu Bai got a chance to say anything, he opened the door and stepped out.
"Watch where you are going," a feminine voiced out in disgust.
"My apologies." Wu Bai lifted his head just in time to see Beatrice walk into his office. She pushed the door to a close and cat-walked over to his side.
"Hello darling," a seductive smile accompanied her hand as it made its way up to his chest. "What\'s with the mood?"
"Nothing. I am just…"
"Ahan…" she tsked at him. "I do not buy that. Wasn\'t that Andromeda\'s lawyer who just walked out?"
"Yes." He released a sigh and pulled away from her arms. Immediately, Beatrice\'s smile dropped but she did not give up and walked over to where he stood by the window.
"Tell me, why was he here?"
"To deliver a restraining order."
