Chapter 110 - Incentives

When Monday and Tuesday passed by without any problems and Lena didn\'t see the car she spotted from Sunday following them either day, she felt less concerned about this and was drawn to believe it must\'ve been a coincidence that her mind jumped to because of how on edge she was.

The only mystery that hadn\'t yet been solved by Romeo or the crew she had assigned to it was who the man who had returned Samuel\'s wallet was. He had apparently completely disappeared into thin air. One would imagine that this would be normal since he was a stranger they knew nothing about. The one problem was that the crew Lena assigned from her family to find out about him had an extensive network that hardly ever failed her when it came to finding out anything about anyone she was curious about even if all they had to go off of was a picture or description and nothing else.

The fact that they hadn\'t been able to find anything about him told her that he hadn\'t just disappeared naturally. No, he most likely purposely disappeared after that so that they wouldn\'t be able to find him which meant that he could still possibly be a lurking threat. She was putting higher on her list the priority of getting Jeff assigned to be Samuel\'s personal guard.

She had other things she had to take care of earlier on in the week before that happened though. Today was one of those things and against her better judgement she decided to bring Samuel along with her to meet Genson and Eve.

At first she didn\'t think that it was something that he should be a part of, but later on she realized it would be unfair for him to not have a say in the matter since he was the one who found the discrepancy in the money in the first place. Plus, she also felt that he was fairly good judge of character and she could trust as still being someone on the outside of her family to give her an honest opinion as to whether or not both or either one would be a good fit to find out what problem was going on in the company.

Samuel was rather surprised that she decided to include him in this process. He had assumed that it was part of the job that he was still yet not allowed to be a part of. He did ask on the way to the office that morning whether or not they would know they\'re engaged to which she responded.

"Yes. In job like these, they are made to sign a form in which they agree to not disclose any of the information that is discussed during the initial meeting regardless of if they are hired and anything that takes place afterwards if they are hired." She explained.

"Thus they wouldn\'t breath a word to anyone else about it knowing what repercussions there would be if they did. If anything did get leaked, it wouldn\'t be that hard to track them down and solve the problem at the source so nothing else like that would happen again." The way Lena talked about it made it sound like it wouldn\'t just be a matter of a discussion to resolve the issue but that it would result in something much worse for the person who broke this kind of form.

Eve and Genson were like night and day to Samuel when he met them in the office with Lena.

Eve looked to be not a day over thirty with jet black shoulder length hair and sharp chocolate brown eyes. She was dressed in black button down blazer with a white dress shirt with black slacks and shoes. Her face like Samuel had seen the princess be oh so often was blank and gave no hint of what she was thinking underneath the mask she had on.

Genson on the other hand was a man in his mid forties with short brown hair, green eyes with well trimmed stubble covering his chin and curved around the bottom part of his face. His brown dress shirt was crinkled and he wore faded blue jeans with platform black boots.

The small smirk that was on his face as he leaned back into sofa with his legs cross made him ooze with the appearance of narcissism and smarminess. Samuel immediately didn\'t like him and why wondered why the princess would pick him.

"Since we\'re all here, why don\'t you get us started by explaining what you\'re looking for Ms. Scarlet." A bit of a southern drawl was noticeable as he said the last syllable of \'Scarlet".

"I\'ve already told both of you what I\'m looking for. So instead, why don\'t you tell me what you think is the best route to take and deal with this problem. I won\'t be the only having final input on this matter either." She replied, fixing Genson with a sharp.

"He\'s the fiance you mentioned?" Eve asked shifting her attention from the princess to Samuel who was sitting next to her.

"That\'s correct." Lena replied.

"If you want an easy solution to the problem, why don\'t you just change the way the computers are used to better track who the culprit might be." Genson suggested

"Or you could setup security cameras where the computers are and find out that way. Then you wouldn\'t even need us to hack the system."

"I already explained to you that I don\'t want to change anything on the surface level because that could become suspicious and whoever is behind this might disappear which I don\'t want."

"You want us to get into the system and find out but also be your eyes and ears so as to be able to catch whoever is behind this?" Eve clarified, already considering in her mind what best options for this would be.

"If I might speak up." Samuel spoke before Eve had a chance to again. Lena looked over at him as she waited for him to continue.

"If you want someone to find out that you\'re on to them why don\'t you hire them to work here for you? Or at least one of them and the other could work behind the scenes to set something up that wouldn\'t raise any flags."

Genson

"I think maybe kid you don\'t quite understand the work we do and are qualified to do." He spoke with a bit of reproach in his voice and one eyebrow raised as he took in the boy that was supposed the fiance.

"I don\'t think it\'s bad idea." Eve interjected looking between the who would be responsible for choosing if they got the job or not.

"You don\'t have to talk the job if you don\'t lit it Genson, I can do both parts myself without help. I would recommend though considering your previous track record in dealing with people that you be the one to work on the inside and I\'ll take care of the background work."

"What made you come to that conclusion?" Lena asked. Genson certainly seemed to be as high maintenance as others had mentioned before but he didn\'t seem daft. By Samuel\'s expression though she could tell that he wasn\'t that fond of the older man\'s personality.

"Because, Genson was a previous con artist and worked in other jobs where he needed to gain trust in difficult situations. Certainly he\'s also good with technology, but whereas I have more experience in hacking and computer related work to know how to do everything behind the scenes without raising any red flags to employees here, I don\'t have the same people skills he has."

"You ain\'t wrong about my people skills, but if I wanted to work a 9-5 job, I certainly wouldn\'t have come here as my first stop." Genson said as he sat up not liking where the conversation was heading, he liked flexibility in his schedule.

"You shouldn\'t be disappointed then to find out you\'d be working most likely from 7-7 each day instead." The smirk dropped off when she said this.

"I need someone here before everyone shows up and until after everyone leaves. Considering the price you\'re asking for and that I\'m willing to pay extra and possible a long-term job out of this- I expected to meet someone who was a bit more flexible and willing to work hard for what they want." Genson could feel the sarcasm in her voice as and spoke and narrowed his eyes slightly knowing she was daring him to turn down the off and prove to her how petty she thought he was.

"I suppose I could work with that. Not my ideal job." Genson replied with a slight shrug of his shoulders as the smirk returned.

"Especially if you\'re willing to pay a bit more for it and there\'s the possibility of other incentives involved." Although it was unspoken, Lena knew by the look on his face what he meant by \'other incentives\' and she didn\'t like it.
