Chapter 436

Chapter 436

Liu Chunfang felt nothing but troubled. This could have been her husband and she could have very well been the wife of Director Han, but it just had to be Lin Lan who took advantage of the opportunity.

She felt sorry for herself and cried uncontrollably. Despite the fact that they weren’t a couple, she believed that Han Qingsong would come up to comfort her and even couldn’t help fantasising the possibility of him walking over to pat her shoulder, consoling her. Perhaps, he might even… Her indecent thoughts started to cause her cheeks to burn.

Han Qingsong didn’t speak as he watched her do nothing but cry. He was feeling really impatient, so he said coldly, “Sun Zhuowen!!”

.

Sun Zhuowen hurried in, “Director Han?”

“What kind of messed up family member is this?”

Sun Zhuowen glanced at Liu Chunfang, a little puzzled, before he looked at Han Qingsong’s expression and immediately understood that he made a mistake.

The main reason was that when he saw Liu Chunfang declaring her intentions to see Director Han, it seemed as if her expressions and her words conveyed another meaning. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that he sincerely thought there was something going on between the two, so he assumed that this was his Director’s wife, who had apparently gone through some trouble at home and showed up at her husband’s workplace to talk about it.

Who would have thought that it wasn’t the case.

He couldn’t help but feel agitated, “Who are you?”

Liu Chunfang hurriedly apologised and said that she was from the same village as Director Han.

Sun Zhuowen broke out in a cold sweat as he quickly apologised with a shy smile, “Director Han, it was my fault for not clarifying it properly. This will not happen again.”

Han Qingsong said, “From now on, besides Lin Lan, you need not entertain anyone from my village who wishes to see me. Instead, refer them to Luo Haicheng and Han Qingyun.”

Sun Zhuowen hurriedly nodded in agreement and asked Liu Chunfang to leave whilst wiping away the layer of cold sweat that formed on his skin.

Liu Chunfang immediately grabbed her son, “I… we are here to make a report.”

Han Qingsong became even more impatient as he waved his hand, telling them to find Luo Haicheng.

Liu Chunfang didn’t expect that he would be this unreasonable and ruthless to her. After all, they went on a date before, so there should have been a minimum amount of politeness in his tone even if they couldn’t be intimate with the other.

She sobbed twice, “Qingsong…”

Han Qingsong frowned before he suddenly asked, “Which family do you belong to?”

In general, determining seniority in the countryside depended on the men. Some men who were mindful of their image would also refrain from simply addressing or contacting another man’s wife. After all, it was an unspoken rule to always seek the husband first when it came to discussions.

Hence, Han Qingsong asked this question.

Liu Chunfang said her husband’s name. He was from the Hui family and according to his generation, he was technically Han Qingsong’s nephew when it came to their age(1).

(T/N: This doesn’t mean they’re related, but it wasn’t clearly explained in the original novel. I assume that at some point along the line, the Hui family married earlier and had children faster, which resulted in their descendants being one generation ahead of the Han family’s)

Han Qingsong looked at her sharply, “Address me as uncle from now on.”

Liu Chunfang’s lips moved, “But…F-for our Liu family, I have always called you brother.”

“Now that you’re married, you should follow your husband’s method of addressing. In actual fact, our Han family is technically a senior to yours as well. That’s enough, you go ahead and make a complaint,” Han Qingsong waved his hands impatiently before he continued to work with his head bowed.
