Chapter 125

Ji Qingqing discussed with Qin Yue about the new schedule for the TV series and then hung up. She turned to Old Lu and said, “Grandpa, I’m sorry. I might not be able to accompany you every day after a few days.”

The waves were quiet. Old Lu was still strong for his age, he was able to endure sitting there steadily for hours.

“What happened?”

“I have to return to work.”

Old Lu smiled at her lovingly, “Go ahead. It’s natural for young people to work, so there is no need to apologize to me. I’ll be satisfied if you’re able to visit me after your work ends.”

“Don’t worry! I will definitely visit you as soon as I have time!”

“How long will you be gone for?”

“I’m not quite sure. It will depend on how efficient the crewmembers are, but I estimate that the filming will at least take a month.”

Old Lu pondered for a moment before he said, “You’ll be out for a month…remember to take care of yourself.”

Ji Qingqing nodded her head obediently.

During dinner, Ji Qingqing informed Aunt Pei that she will be busy filming with the crew in two days. Aunt Pei sighed in pity because the couple was often busy with their work. Lu Lixing would head to his company very early in the morning and return home late while Ji Qingqing would be away from home for a certain length of time due to filming. Aunt Pei saw herself as Ji Qingqing’s mother-in-law; she wondered when the household would finally be blessed with a child.

Aunt Pei believed that it was her duty to encourage Lu Lixing to quickly produce a child.

When Lu Lixing returned to the villa late in the evening, she brought up supper to the study. She asked him a few questions.

“Young master, is your company busy these days?”

Lu Lixing’s head was buried in a pile of documents. He looked up at Aunt Pei when he heard her question and answered, “It’s moderately busy.”

“No matter how busy you are with work, you should still pay attention to your health.”

“Aunt Pei don’t worry. I know my own body well.” Lu Lixing had been working in the company for many years, and there had always been a lot of work he needed to deal with. The people who worked for him were often busy with work too. They were all used to the amount of work after a few years, so they don’t feel tired, they just have as much leisure time as other people.

“You and your wife, did you…”

Lu Lixing’s hand paused and asked, “Aunt Pei, did something happen at home today?”

“No, nothing of that sort. I just believed that you should spend more time with your wife since the two of you are newlyweds. Recently, you always head out to work early and return home late. There’s nothing for your wife to do at home alone, so it must be quite boring for her.”

“I don’t have a lot of time to spend with her since I’m busy with her.”

Aunt Pei sighed, “During tonight’s dinner, your wife told us that she will be heading back to work in two days.”

Lu Lixing was unconcerned as he stated, “I didn’t ask her to stay home alone all the time. She has her own job and I will not interfere with her job.”

“Fine, fine! Young people, these days are always busy. Young master, if you have anything you need, please don’t hesitate to ask for me.”

“Okay.”

Aunt Pei’s gaze lingered on Lu Lixing for a few seconds. She wanted to say something, but she stopped herself.

When the clock on the wall struck ten o’clock, Lu Lixing finally finished stifling through the stack of documents and returned to his room. Ji Qingqing was not asleep yet; she was sitting on the bedside reading a book. It seemed as if she was waiting for him.

Lu Lixing headed to the bathroom without saying a word.

“Wait a moment.”

Lu Lixing turned around and asked, “What’s up?”

“There is something I have to tell you.”

“Speak.”

“You told me earlier that you have helped me ask for a seven-day leave from work, but I have to leave tomorrow.”

“Leave?”

“I have to head back to work. If I don’t work, someone else will replace my work.”

Ji Qingqing was not a major celebrity in the entertainment industry, so Lu Lixing would not be informed about her schedule.

He didn’t take Ji Qingqing’s words to heart because it was normal for someone to have a job. Lu Lixing didn’t ask for details and believed that she should’ve recovered by now seeing how she was so full of energy and lively right now.

“If you want to go, then you should go. There is no need for you to ask me for permission.”

“Really?! Then I will be returning to work tomorrow!”
