Chapter 50 - "Cooperate with me by putting on the appearance of a loving wife. Start off by remembering to call me hubby." (2)
The more she thought about, the more she felt that Lu Lixing's condition was gradually improving.
The gloom had been hanging over Elder Lu for the past month had been swept away. He said with a smile, "The doctor said Lixing is on the path to recovering. He's already out of critical condition and okay now."
Aunty Pei was frozen in surprise again and again as she heard these words. She felt incredulous.
"Is that true? Young Master, is this true?"
Lu Lixing nodded. "Aunty Pei, I'm sorry for making you worry."
Aunty Pei pressed her together in a prayer position and let out a long sigh. "I knew it! I knew Young Master would be okay. Heaven helps the worthy. Thank the heavenly gods!"
After saying these words, Aunty Pei seemed as if she had remembered something. "Oh right, I have to go prepare pomelo leaves so Young Master can wash away the bad luck."
(T/N: There a Chinese superstition that taking a pomelo leaves bath will wash away bad luck.)
"Aunty Pei, you don't have to do that."
"Don't have to? How can I not? You just came back from the hospital. You stink of disinfectant. Go, go, take a bath to wash away the bad luck!"
Faced with Aunty Pe's nagging, Lu Lixing could only acquiesce.
A servant entered the villa and reported that there was someone here to see Elder Lu. This visitor had an appointment.
Elder Lu hadn't been feeling well for the past several days. He had been resting in his room to recuperate and had forgotten about any appointments that he had made.
The visitor was a slightly fat middle-aged man dressed in a new suit and he was holding a new suitcase. His narrowed eyes lingered as he scanned the inside of the Lu family's villa. He uneasily took the tea that Aunty Pei offered.
Elder Lu asked, "You're...?"
The visitor solemnly looked at Elder Lu and introduced himself. "Elder Lu, my last name is Wang. You can just call me Little Wang. I feel really bad that such a thing has happened to you. I hope that you'll be able to pull yourself together soon. The thing that you entrusted our company to do, we've already completed it."
"What did I entrust your company to do?"
Mr. Wang took out the documents from his briefcase and pointed at the photos. "Please look, you asked us to look for cemetery plots. These are the ones we found for you. These are all good places with enchanting scenery that have mountains on one side and water on the other side. The highest and best spot of Panlongtai Cemetery has been left for you. This one is Xishuiwan Cemetery. There's also this one. All of these are first-class cemeteries. Whether it's the natural scenery or geomancy, these places are all especially good. Please look. Which one do you like?"
Mr. Wang only cared about selling his top-notch cemetery plots. He didn't care about the expression on the faces of the people around him. He didn't know that the actual client for his products was sitting across from him with a fake smile.
Elder Lu didn't say anything, but the happiness on his face had been completely swept away by Mr. Wang.
Three days ago, when Lu Lixing had returned home from the hospital, Elder Lu had assigned Qin Shao to handle Lu Lixing's funeral arrangements. But now that his grandson was recovering, it was bad luck to continue preparing this type of thing.
(T/N: Just in case it was too long ago, Qin Shao is the guy that briefly appeared in chapter 10 to fetch Ji Qingqing from her apartment and bring her to the hospital.)
Mr. Wang, who still hadn't heard any response, finally realized there was something wrong. He stopped his sales pitch and looked at Elder Lu's gloomy expression. He probingly asked, "Elder Lu, do you feel that none of these cemeteries are good? That's okay, our company has even better cemeteries available for sale. Everything will be just right Mr. Lu's funeral arrangements!"
"Haha -" Ji Qingqing truly couldn't hold back her laughter anymore.
Lu Lixing furrowed his brow. He picked up the photos and documents that Mr. Wang had presented and flipped through them. "Panlongtai Cemetery looks pretty good. Let's just pick this one."
Mr. Wang obviously hadn't seen Lu Lixing before today. "Sir, you have such good taste. Panlongtai Cemetery is the best one here. It's definitely the best choice. But, um, you are...?"
"You picked out these cemeteries for me, but you don't know who I am?"
