Chapter 60 58- A Letter From Home

Alone now, Xi Shen then sunk into his thoughts once more, ‘I’ll definitely start keeping tabs on this Bai Xiaofung. The fact that he was able to cause such phenomenons when concocting pills using that pill furnace is extremely strange, especially since we\'re dealing with Chaos Qi. As for the pill furnace, I’ll have to find a way to get my hands on it. Hmm, I guess this explains the closeness shown by the Bai Clan and the Lin clan for the past few years. I glimpsed a piece of information in the secret archives that mention how the Lin Clan Patriarch\'s only daughter had joined the Sovereign Sword Faction, which is led by the eldest son of the Bai Clan Patriarch.’

After thinking that, Xi Shen flipped over his palm and the black invitation that Meiling had delivered to him before appeared in his hand.

A thoughtful look appeared on his face, and he was contemplating several ways to use this invitation to his advantage.

However, he ultimately gave up on the thought as it would be a dishonor on his part if he joined a faction created by one of the Seven Major Clans.

He’ll just have to find a way to discover what’s going on between the Bai Clan And Lin Clan some other way.

Maybe getting to duel cultivate with that Meiling girl would be a bonus as well. If he could, it would help strengthen his Spiritual Physique and give it the upgrade it needed to become balanced with his Heavenly Physique.

After a moment, Xi Shen let the invitation fall to the floor, but where he was holding the envelope suddenly began to age rapidly and before it could touch the cobble-stone ground, the entire envelope with the invitation inside turned into scraps of papers, that were blown away in a slight breeze.

Xi Shen then thought about his two God Beasts, and another plan started to form in his mind.

Ever since Tai and Little Snow had appeared before him when he was still a baby, he had found it very convenient to sneak around without anyone discovering him.

With both of their powers working together, Xi Shen could even hide from high-level experts in the Soul Transformation Realm within pocket spaces. Well, that’s if they weren’t releasing their Divine Will’s into the surroundings. If that was the case he could be discovered.

And as for their illusion ability, it similarly would be difficult for Soul Transformation Realm cultivators to see through his real appearance.

Thinking about his two God Beasts, Xi Shen realized that he hadn’t sensed them around for a while.

With his telepathy link to them, a feature that comes with that is the ability to sense when they were hiding within pocket spaces close by. But since the Freshmen Disciple Competition had ended, he hadn’t sensed them until now.

Though Xi Shen only took small notice of it and wasn’t too worried about his God Beasts.

They still looked like they were young, but they’d been roaming around this part of the Galaxy for a few hundred years before they sensed him. This was what he had been told by them both.

There were some close calls, but an existence that could threaten them wasn’t found on this planet, let alone this continent.

While Xi Shen was sipping the last remnants of his tea, Yang Su finally returned and Xi Shen couldn’t help but noticed an excited expression on his face.

Curious, Xi Shen asked with a raised brow, “What has gotten you so excited all of a sudden?”

Coming up to Xi Shen, Yang Su excitedly said, “Elder brother Xi Shen, a letter from my family back in my home village just came!”

Yang Su had a wide grin on his face as he said that.

Xi Shen smiled at Yang Su’s enthusiasm and asked, “What does it say? I guess they are wondering about your well-being?”

Yang Su nodded his head vigorously and said, “My mother and father are saying I should return when I’m not busy.”

Hearing that, Xi Shen felt a bit ashamed of himself. He had taken Yang Su under him and hadn’t even thought to ask him about his family even once.

However, just when he was about to ask about Yang Su’s family situation, and if he had any siblings, Yang Su seemed to have remembered something as he said, “Oh! Elder brother Shen, a letter had also come for you as well.”

“For me?”

Xi Shen was surprised at the news.

He then saw Yang Su handing over a sealed envelope that had the character ‘Li’ written elegantly on the front.

Seeing this, Xi Shen had thoughts of who had sent him the letter.

Taking it from Yang Su’s hand, Xi Shen slowly opened the envelope which was sealed by a drop of red wax, before he took out a single piece of paper that was folded up to fit inside.

Opening the folded paper Xi Shen read the extremely short message written on the top of the page in extremely fancy handwriting.

Soon after reading it, an extremely sheepish smile appeared on Xi Shen’s face and he couldn’t help but chuckle in awkward amusement.

Yang Su who was seated across from Xi Shen was surprised by Xi Shen’s reaction upon reading the letter. He hadn’t seen his elder brother make an embarrassed expression like that before. He usually had on a confident and know-it-all expression perpetually on his face.

Xi Shen read the message again and even turn it over to make sure he hadn’t missed something.

On the paper, the message only read, “Oh how I wish my unfilial son would come to visit his lonely mother.”

That’s it.

That was the entire message.

Thinking about his mother, Xi Shen wore a slightly helpless smile on his face. But there was still that warm feeling that always welled up in his heart when he thought of his rather eccentric mother. He hadn’t felt this feeling ever since he was around this age in his past life.

He quite enjoyed it really.

However, as said before, his mother could be quite dramatic just from looking at this letter and how it was worded. It was as if she was trying to guilt-trip Xi Shen into coming back to the Palace to visit her.

What kind of mother would make his son feel ashamed for not returning home to visit after only leaving for a few months.

But Xi Shen supposed it had to do with his fourteenth birthday that was coming up at the of the end year as well.

‘I think I should go visit her before, I got a more worded letter than this.’

As Xi Shen thought that he suddenly remembered that Yang Su’s parents wanted him to visit as well.

After contemplating for a moment, Xi Shen said to Yang Su, “I have to return to the Imperial Palace, so I won’t be able to accompany you to your village. Maybe next time in the future when the opportunity arises again.”

Yang Su nodded his head in understanding and then said, “It’s alright elder brother Shen, I’ll be fine on my own.”

Still worried a little though, Xi Shen lifted his palm and manipulated the wood elemental Laws in the surroundings.

Yang Su watched in fascination as several small roots appeared between the crevices of the cobble-stone floor, and after wrapping around each other at the end in the shape of a small wooden slip, it landed in Xi Shen’s outstretched hand before the remaining roots retreated into the ground.

Xi Shen then sent out his Divine Will, and branded his soul signature onto it. He then handed it to Yang Su and said, “If anything ever happens, and you need help, just break this wooden slip that has been branded with my soul signature and I’ll know immediately and come help you.”

Yang Su carefully took the wooden slip with both hands while saying thank you to Xi Shen and then placing it within his storage ring.

After that, the two discussed a few things before Xi Shen decided it was time to leave.

Yang Su was going to stay for a day before heading back to his village, but from the letter Xi Shen received, he suspect that if he didn’t show his face to his mother within the same day of receiving it, then she would turn up here and start scolding him for the entire Celestial Academy to hear.

Xi Shen was already on the tip of most people’s tongue so he didn’t want any more unwanted attention on him, especially for something as embarrassing as his mothering berating him for not being a filial son.

A term that she loves to casually throw out, usually coupled with a bemoaning expression so she could hoodwink anyone nearby and make Xi Shen feel ashamed of his actions.

Thinking of his mother, Xi Shen let out a nervous laugh and braised himself to return home.

‘Hmm. I’ll check up on that elder brother of mine while I’m back as well.’
