Chapter 166 166 – Dragon’s Heart
[Vorn\'s POV]
I helped the fourth girl onto a horse carriage. They still looked timid around me, even though I already hide my horns.
"It\'s okay." Smiling, Ayre distributed blankets to those women who were not dressed appropriately. "You won\'t be taken to a worse place than that house. The prophet spoke to you to come to us, right? If you girls don\'t believe in us, believe in her."
One of them ventured to ask. "Is miss prophet okay? I look so sad."
"Well, you\'ve seen it yourself, haven\'t you?" I replied to them. "She was shocked to see the true face of the government of this country."
"I see." She answered softly. "Thank you, sir."
"Just remember my name." I widened my smile. "I\'m Vorn."
Before they could react, I closed the door and signaled the driver to move the carriage.
"The prophet is really taking time." Ayre looked at the house of Gerald, the councilor, a few yards from where we were. "She should have gone out with those girls."
I shrugged. "Well, maybe she still has much to say to the councilor..."
I narrowed my eyes at the bright light coming from one of the top windows of the house. That thing reminds me of the color of fire.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Ayre hissed.
"Yeah. Maybe I better check it out." I replied
As I started running, I saw the light getting brighter. And next, I felt pushed by an invisible force accompanied by a deafening roar.
Yes, that house exploded, sending up a huge, soaring fire. Ayre and I were thrown several feet down the marble path, and rubble fell all around us.
"Shit!" I hurriedly got up. Paying no mind to the pain in my back and ringing in my ears, I ran towards the giant fire from where Gerald\'s house should have been through the scorching heat. "Velvet!"
However, having just taken a few steps forward, I stopped. The flames gradually took on a familiar shape, with a lizard-like head, gigantic wings, a massive body, and an incredibly long tail.
Yes, the fire forms a dragon. At first, I just gasped, but soon my mouth let out a small chuckle.
"Amazing." I shook my head as the form solidified with glistening red and gold scales. "It\'s so beautiful."
"Is that the prophet?" Ayre caught up to me. "Yeah, I agree. She\'s gorgeous."
The dragon let out a gigantic roar. I felt something dark and sad in that creature\'s voice.
Is she crying?
I shielded my face with my arms because of the enormous wind from the creature\'s flapping wings. She started flying into the air.
"We follow her, Ayre." I gave the order. "I\'m not going to let her go just like that."
Ayre summoned a pocket dimension portal, and soon an undead wyvern emerged from it. Emily has made that lifeless creature obey my orders, even though I can\'t use necromancy.
The two of us climbed onto that thing, then flew to follow the dragon, which had begun to move away.
"I wonder where she\'s going." Ayre, who was sitting behind me, said.
"Well, maybe because of her mental state, she will go to a quiet place to calm down." I\'m making a guess.
And that was my chance to persuade her to be my wife. She will be very vulnerable and feel that she has no one anymore. I will look like a savior who will pull her from suffering and pain.
However, she stopped near a house the same size as Gerald\'s. Not that she landed on the ground. That creature stays in the air by flapping its wings but does not move forward.
And a fireball formed in her mouth. Instead of fear or surprise, my heart was filled with excitement.
She shot that fireball into the house, causing it to explode.
I spread my arms with joy. This is totally unexpected, and I love it.
The dragon started moving again, and I caught up with her at maximum speed.
"My love!" I called her. "Let the rage burn your heart! Destroy those who have tricked you! Finish off the councilors and the other officials!"
She just glanced at me and accelerated her flight.
I stared at the gigantic flame formed by the explosion just now. Yes, there may be many innocent victims from this incident. However, I\'ve learned many times that sometimes you have to make enormous sacrifices to get something.
From giving Emily an eye to destroying a country, I\'m aware of consequences like this.
"They are coming." Ayre pointed in a direction.
"Damn, they\'re fast." I glanced at those dozens of wyvern-riding warriors from a distance.
Instead of confronting them, I went to Velvet, who happened to stop again near another house.
"The soldiers will try to stop you!" I shouted again at the dragon. "Let us deal with them. Focus on what you\'re doing."
She glanced at me again, then I changed course to fly fast at the wyvern riders.
"Ayre, give me a hand!" I shouted while the shapeshifter general gave me various kinds of buffs. "We\'ll finish them off!"
"Sure, my lord!" Ayre answered, starting to shoot concentrated heat from her hands.
I moved my undead wyvern to dodge the flames from the creatures. Occasionally, I countered them with freeze shots from my wyvern\'s mouth.
And when I got close to them, I pulled one of the soldiers from the wyvern. Then, I threw his body at another soldier. Both of them bounced and fell, screaming.
Several other soldiers maneuvered to help their two comrades. And that becomes our big chance to attack them. Ayre and I took down several more wyverns in no time.
"Just let them be!" A person in a shiny blue robe called out. It seemed he was the leader of this party. "We need to focus on fighting them!"
Stupid. Even though they could move fast, they were too arrogant with their wyverns. They didn\'t even have contingency plans if their comrades fell in an aerial battle like this.
I continued to maneuver to avoid their flames. Occasionally Ayre and I counterattacked.
